The English Beat – Save It For Later Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is about a guy who falls for a girl, but later finds out she's really a slut. "Two dozen other dirty lovers Must be a sucker for it" and I agree that it is about getting oral sex: "Your legs give way, you hit the ground" "Sooner or later You hit the deck, you get found out" dropping to her knees..? It's like he doesn't want to know, but he does and he can't get it out of his mind. But he knows it's inevitable. That's why he's asking her to "Save it for later" In the mean time, he figures he'll get some easy sex out of it: "Don\'t bother trying to explain them Just hold my hand while I come... [obvious pause] ...To a decision on it" and "I don't know how I'm meant to act with you lot Sometimes I don't try I just now, now, now, now ,now ....." |
? And The Mysterians – 96 Tears Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is said to be the first punk song. Even though it fits more into the "garage rock" genre, I agree that it is in a way the begining of punk music - a bunch of kis in a garage, simple but effective instrumentation. Oh, and the keyboard in the song is a Farfisa, a cheap crappy keybard with a distinct sound that got really popular back then because of the awesome sound. |
Freddy Cannon – Palisades Park Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Watch the movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, and you will learn all you need to know about this song. |
Tenacious D – Papagenu (He's My Sassafrass) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
When I saw the movie for the first time and he sang the part "Sasquatch is my Daddy and he's going to protect... ME!" I just about shit my pants I was laughing so hard. I love this song. Since when does sasquatch protect diamonds? hahaha |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Let Me Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this is a song about falling in love with a person you she had a one night stand with. It keeps referring to one night " Like the day you took me home" and "like the night we hit the ground". It seems like he left her abruptly "Can't for get about you still, all the sudden all alone, I'm Calling out I'm calling" but she knew it was coming "we counted every minute left to go" thats what I think when I hear the song. this is my favorite yeah yeah yeahs song. |
Tenacious D – Friendship Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I run naked in the sand with my friends. |
Weezer – The Prettiest Girl In The Whole Wide World Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Do yourself a HUGE favor and download this song (there is a live bootleg copy on limewire). This is quite possibly my favorite Weezer song ever. And I'm practically obsessed with Pinkerton. This song is so simple and perfect, and so blissful. This song makes me feel more in love that when I thought I actually had been in love. |
Dusty Springfield – Son Of A Preacher Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Voodoochilde is right about the mistake in the lyrics. The song was not written by dusty herself, but by john hurley and ronnie wilkins, so it is safe to say that it has nothing to do with lesbians. she was one decent looking lesbian, back when she was young, i might add. |
Elvis Presley – Don't Be Cruel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The drum sound in this song rocks my world. Elvis is the king. too bad he had to die on the shitter. |
Rancid – Roots Radicals Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh yeah, and the Stiff little fingers song came out one year before the Jimmy Cliff song did, for the record |
The Breeders – Cannonball Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The "mmmmm mmm" in the begining, does that sound like the e-woks in Return of the Jedi when they were worshipping C-3PO? I know that sounds geeky, but I have heard someone else say the same thing, so I wanted to see if anyone knew |
Modest Mouse – Polar Opposites Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Notice the part where he makes fun of people with loud stereos and lowriders? "Hi-fi Gods try so hard to make their cars low to the ground" and "Primer gray is the color when you're done dying" Can't figure out why that is included... maybe he just doesn't like lowriders with loud stereos |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Miles Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song seems to me to be about some woman fleeing from the place where she killed her lover. "As the cars go by under the sun like an enemy, you wonder..." Sort of like paranoia you get when it seems like everyone knows what you did. and the whole "Miles, miles away" and "Looking in the car rear view mirror" seems like she is fleeing from somewhere. And I'm pretty sure the line "dressed again in the hot water" means she is sweating profusely. thats my best guess. any other theories? |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Pin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It says "I like to sleep with him, pushing in the pin...we're gonna go back in..." This is obviously talking about sex. And it sounds to me like she is making fun of his size, with the line "things are feeling thin" and the fact that she is talking about the "Pin", a very small object. (listen to the song "bang" and the whole size inuendo becomes a reoccurring thing in their music) I agree with beatjunkie, he is moving on to another girl with the line "lost my seat again, I'll go, I'll go" |
Rancid – Roots Radicals Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Does this song remind you of "Roots, Radicals, Rockers, & Reggae" by Stiff Little Fingers? Rancid was clearly influenced by them, and I think it is a little too big of a coincidence. Both are awesome songs, just thought I'd point that out. |
