The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony Lyrics | 17 years ago |
disgustingly repititious but, then again, so is Hey Jude so it's still awesome, yo |
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thank you, tsreyb I second - don't base your personal interpretation on anybody else's, even Fogerty's himself Because everybody can take away something different from this song |

Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics | 17 years ago |
and, for the record, yes - grey would be the colour if I had a heart is quite possibly the cheesiest, lamest, uncreative, most predictable line ever close second to bruce springsteen - murder incorperated out on the street your chances are zero but still, the grey heart gets an obligatory prize package *hands easter basket lookin thing full of useless shit* |
Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I still recall the taste of your tears Echoing your voice just like the ringing in my ears My favorite dreams of you still wash ashore Scraping through my head till I don't want to sleep anymore" goddamnit, I wish I could've been brilliant enough to fucking write that, man This is one of the roughly 8 songs in the entire world that bring out emotion in me really strong - fantastic song to listen to while looking accross the street at a house burning down you set on fire yourself especially if it's a house with some sort of sentimental value...bad memories....apartment you and your ex shared, whatever - just try it |
Dave Matthews Band – The Stone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song has one specific meaning for Dave, but he wrote it and plays it in such a way that it has a personal meaning for every Dave fan who hears it. That is the brilliance of Dave. I know I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. "Why do I feel as if I'm in too deep?" It makes my own personal demons rise up and confront me. Just like Dave meant it to. The man is a genius. |
Bush – Glycerine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ENJOY THE CORRECTED LYRICS!!! took me 3 fuckin hours to do strait by ear... especially the bridge great-ass ledgendary love song that does a good job of not being sappy well, it is grunge I spose :D |
Bush – Greedy Fly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think everybody needs to see this music video at least 9 times before they die warning - be prepared for the possibility of not being able to sleep ever again and have a nice large bucket/tub positioned a nice 2 feet or so directly beneath your mouth I thought it was fuckin cool, but it'd probably sick most people out Gavin's got a cool sense of evil..... He'd be the baddest badass of grunge if it wasn't for Cantrell and the whole G Stef thing......wtf was he thinking...... |
Jack Johnson – Good People Lyrics | 17 years ago |
aaaaaaaaw...what's wrong lukasa? did someone not give you a puppy dog for christmas to play with when you were a little kid? ah, fuck you..... this is awesome right before you listen to this, listen to the joker by Steve Miller Band yeah I know |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Name Lyrics | 17 years ago |
haunting in its undeniable beauty |
Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This aughta clear up that issue. Lyrics from his song "Mother Father": There's no God above And no hell below Oh, it's here with us It's up to us To keep afloat Anyway. This song also has nothing to do with drugs. Dave would never be petty enough to do something so stupid. Unless he felt like pissing off people like me. Which he might. |
Melissa Etheridge – No Souvenirs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
no comments on her only song worth a damn? go figure :\ |
Sarah McLachlan – Drawn To The Rhythm Lyrics | 17 years ago |
fabulous song enjoy the new coat of paint for the lyrics I submitted I had to for compensation to the dumbass lyrics that were posted previous..... nice job, lazy-ass mothafuckin copy/paste loser..... concerning the second half of the third verse, some people argue that it's supposed to be "That heaven is a stranger place than WHAT I've left behind" as opposed to "than THE ONE I've left behind" This might very well be true, but I'm pretty sure I'm right but I absolutely know for a fact that it's not "I wake only to find" or "You wake only to find" it's "Awake only to find" with the 'You' understood and implied god, that pisses me off every time I get into an argument with someone about that one fucking line..... regardless, the song is cocain enjoy |
The Allman Brothers Band – Dreams Lyrics | 17 years ago |
3 words molly hatchet cover |
Peter Gabriel – Secret World Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yep obviously about an affair "I stood in this sun sheltered place Till I could see the face behind the face" this line hits hardest the sun is representing all the opprotunities he could've taken with other women, but didn't just to prove right a suspicion that turned out to be sadly true, showing how desperately he tried to hold onto the relationship. I don't cry over songs, but if I did.....this would most definitely be one |
Queen – Under Pressure Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one of the primary things that helps me get up and face the day even on the roughest of mornings is the glowing satisfaction of the fact that Vanilla Ice is gonna die one of these days, and probably before I do. :) happy things..... |
Cypress Hill – (Rock) Superstar (feat. Chino Moreno & Everlast) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
everlast? pfft....can you say "wannabe sublime"? difference - Cypress Hill is......oh, how would I put it....... good |
Alice in Chains – Would? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's about andrew wood and it's about andrew's heroin addiction and it's about layne's heroin addiction the best way to sum it up is andrew's perspective and what he would say if he could speak to his peers (including layne) one last time verse 1 is about how andrew was an inspiration to him and a role model the first part of the chorus is about how andrew, after trying to be said role model, fell back into his haroin addiction. "same old trip it was back then" - nothing's changed from his past experiences, his addiction still remains the same the second part is about how he should learn from andrew's mistake, and (mentioned in the first verse) carry on the second verse is simply about being stoned out of your fucking mind whacked off herion the outro is him questioning himself, his actions, and it's reflection on everyone else "have I gone and left you here alone?" - pure guilt the haunting part of the song is the last 5 words If I would could you? because......well, on April 5 2002 he did..... makes you shudder R.I.P. - Andrew Wood, Layne Staley |

AC/DC – Ride On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Everyone's right-except for one person. It's a great song It's an inspirational song It's ironic under the consideration of Bon Scott's death It's a differend AC/DC to say the least but.... demau senae is wrong the opening lyrics are: It's another lonely evening IN another lonely town not and another lonely town not to nitpick, but you're just plain wrong GREAT FRIKIN SONG!! |
Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
well, some people who've written about this have been on the right track, and some are just clueless, bumbling drooling gimps tumbling into things with half the intellegence of a speed bump. It's about someone who's suffered through a lot of pain in his life, and slips into a drug-induced coma before a concert. Then, some people inject drugs to counteract the drugs he's taken so he can stand up, walk in front of a microphone, and lip sinc without passing out. Throughout the next songs, he lines up concert members against "The Wall" and shoots them in an act of pure insanity, possibly egged on by the drugs and the anti-drugs that just happen to be more drugs. Then It goes through the wait for the trial, the trial, etc. Well, glad we cleared that up. |
Fury in the Slaughterhouse – Radio Orchid Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oi. Howyadoin, I'm in the US and I love this album. Radio Orchid Is actually kind of a sad song, and It's followed up well by the song with a rather angry tone, Waiting for Paradice. |
Dire Straits – Telegraph Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
whoops. Gee, i wrote this a while ago and wanted to check for replies. Didn't realize i submitted my over-oppinionated statement twice. sorry :) |
Rush – The Trees Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Jesus, we got a lot of rush fans in the house. I'm rather dissapointed, however, under the consideration that rush fans are generally more eclectic than this. It's about politics. Not work force. Not communism. It's about the struggle for democracy amoungst the political system, and the lack of realization for the dangers to equal rights. For ex: Johnny's a genius MIT grad, and Dirk's a moron HS dropout workin in a muffler shop. Should Dirk make critically effecting political decisions, or should he just leave his trust to Johnny? I think I'm right but I'm willing to accept the possibility of a double-meaning here. Rush rocks rules. Dire straits-better, but Rush rules. |
Rush – Hand Over Fist Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Couldn't tell you what it means for the life of me, but it's a great song. No, Neil's drumming carries MOST of Rush's songs while Alex's acoustics carry this song, but, yes, Lee's vocal performance to this track is impressive. |
Barenaked Ladies – Light Up My Room Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song might as well be hexed, which I think it is. Nothing can quite make depictions of the good life like this. You have nothing to strive for, so no frustration. You don't have it all, so there's a purpose somewhere. And most importantly, you're enjoying life with what you shouldn't have to settle for. The line: "But in our house, we never get bored cause we dance to the radio station that plays in our teeth" tells all. |
Rush – The Body Electric Lyrics | 18 years ago |
A basic robot gone haywire song, comparable to the killroy story, told in the lyrics of Mr. Roboto by Styx. An overall amazing song. |
Harry Chapin – Dreams Go By Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No comments yet? Why? It's about a young man and woman with multiple dreams throughout their lives, and in each stanza, they always never have their aspirations, but always each other, which is also the ending of the song. The you gotta dream when you're young line is the specific moral of the song, at least to me. Go ahead and dream youngins before you realize you won't get exactly get what you're looking for. A melancholy song to extremeties, however maintaining a bouncy, springy, put your hand on your bud's shoulder and sing as if you were in an Irish pub feel. I personally recommend the live version, with a comical opening. Great overall song. |
Gordon Lightfoot – The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's easily Lightfoot's best song about a frieghter, aptly named the Edmund Fitzgerald, carrying a heavy load of taconite, or small iron ore pellets, sank as a result of 27-30 foot waves on a trip from Superior, Wisconsin to Detroit Michigan on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. It was true that the ship was due course to Detroit and not cleveland, but the taconite was headed to Cleveland via Highway from Detroit. At 7:10 p.m. the ship's final chilling radio message to a sister ship was "We're holding our own". |
Led Zeppelin – Going to California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
An amazing acoustic song making a nice little break after the mammoth "Stairway". A great acoustic song with, if you're looking for it, obvious influences to Pearl Jam's Given to Fly, also a great song. |
Dire Straits – Telegraph Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My fav. lyrics in the song are also the "they can always fly away" line. I have listened to hundreds of bands and thousands of songs from several genres. So when I rate this as my #1 song of all time, my opinion should be considered legitimate. Rock on, Mark. |

Thin Lizzy – Whiskey in the Jar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ur both right. The awesome Thin Lizzy version inspired an enhanced Metallica cover. I'm impartial. |
Metallica – Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The fact that Metallica cut out the 20 second opening and the first chorus Thin Lizzy's version had was a disappointment, almost to the consideration of a failure, but Metallica made up for it by enhancing the main riff and the percussion. James and Lars are seriously slammin it. Thin Lizzy's version is awesome, but my reccomendation goes out to Metallica on this one. What a great song. |
