The White Stripes – This Protector Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I think this song is about having a good friend who is always there no matter what. The part:
You thought you heard a sound
there's no one else around
looking at the door
it's coming through the floor
is about being alone in a thought or emotion and having no one else who believes you except for your protector. A good friend does believe you and stands by you no matter what the circumstances.
Easily the best song on White Blood Cells. |

The Fiery Furnaces – Bitter Tea Lyrics

The best song off of Bitter Tea and quite possibly my favorite Fiery Furnaces song. I don't believe that FF lyrics are meant to be interpreted critically. They are meaningful as they stand. |

Lee Hazlewood – Some Velvet Morning Lyrics

This song was given to me on a mix CD and I adore this song. It reminds me of the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed's voice, but better! I'm checking out more Hazlewood. |

The Fiery Furnaces – My Dog Was Lost But Now He's Found Lyrics

This song changed my musical life.
I was listening to Blueberry Boat for about the second time and this song came on. I was really intrigued by the lyrics and kept listening. When Elenor came to the last few lines, I realized the pun. It took me by surprise so much I started crying. I don't know why, but I was just overcame with musical brilliance. The Fiery Furnaces wield something magical. |

Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics

In SPIN magazine, Sufjan said that he doesn't prioritize sin. He believes lying to or deceiving someone is the same as killing thim. I think this explains why the narrator says "I am really just like him." |

Sufjan Stevens – Chicago Lyrics
|
I simply took this song to mean that the narrator was coming to Chicago to escape from the things haunting his past. "I've made a lot of mistakes in my mind" makes me think he's done something wrong, but he's making it out to be a lot worse than it is. He's crying for freedom because he can start over in a new city without people judging him.
This song and John Wayne Gacy create a theme of regret and remorse throughout the album. Anyone else agree? |

We Are Scientists – Inaction Lyrics

Wow. This is the first really rocking song of 2006! I ordered the CD from Amazon and it should come tomorrow! It' my first CD purchase of the year! If the rest of the CD is similar to this jump-up-and-dance energy, I will be quite pleased.
The video for this was actually played on MTV2. I recommend anyone who likes this song to check it out. |
