Morrissey – The Loop Lyrics
|
I think he's trying to reach out for someone...but at the same time...wants the person to call, (to know he's still part of his/her psyche)..just so he can have the upper hand and not answer...:) |

Morrissey – Trouble Loves Me Lyrics
|
I think this song is about being alone, being content with that...when "the balance seems serene"...and then being a "fool"...and going out and falling in lust/love with some again "flesh rampage"...charming them with your "ready wit"....even though you'd promised yourself you wouldn't do that ...you know it's going to be a waste of time they're going to be "the wrong arms"...you know the relationship is just going to be trouble... |

Morrissey – Speedway Lyrics

I don't know...Morrissey HATES Joyce...wishes him pain...this song sounds more like he loves the person..deeply. Could it be about Marr? |

Morrissey – Let The Right One Slip In Lyrics

What no comments on this song? I adore this song...it's so much fun. I think it's about letting the right person into your life...rather than just automatically rejecting everyone. |

Morrissey – Found Found Found Lyrics

Michael Stipe huh? Morrissey did say in an interview once that he was really amazed wheh Michael stood up for him re: the judge on the Smiths wages court case...or something. |

Morrissey – Boxers Lyrics
|
I love this song...it's so fantastic...the melody is divine. I think it's just about a boxer who has lost a fight and is dealing with the consequences...and figuring out who stays with you through the losses and who leaves you.
Although the title does imply an added component to it :) |

Morrissey – The Never Played Symphonies Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I love the lines
"The never-laid, that's the never played symphonies"
I think this is about suicide/death...and the the fact that before you die...you (or at least Moz) think of all the failures in life, rather than the good times. |

The Smiths – Reel Around the Fountain Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I think it's about losing your innocence (and liking it) but having the other person just see you as a sex object...while you see them as something more special. Even though you know they only want to sleep with you...you love them so much that you just cannot say no to another lust-filled 15mins.
Personally, I think that child molestation stuff is ridiculous nonsense... |

Morrissey – The Girl Least Likely To Lyrics

This song makes Morrissey sound so sweet..that fact that he's being nice to this girl who'll probably never make it...He seems concerned about her feelings. :) |

Morrissey – Our Frank Lyrics
|
hmm...I don't think he's talking to himself.
I think the whole "someone please stop me etc" lines are him asking himself to stop judging and thinking so much about the people he's with. I can relate to that.
The song is hilarious though...I don't know why Kill Uncle is still so badly received...there are quite a few great songs in there. |

Morrissey – The Slum Mums Lyrics

knowing Morrissey's hatred for the Tory government...I think he's taking the "bad guy" view in order to help one sympathise with the slum mums.
Is that heroin at the end? |

Morrissey – Wide To Receive Lyrics

Yeah..I think so as well...he's also creating the whole "is he isn't he" thing with the wording "wide to receive" :) |

The Smiths – Unloveable Lyrics

I love this song...over-the-top depressing...kind of making fun of himself and his fans...but also not entirely joking.
Only Morrissey/The Smiths can get away with lyrics like that ... |

Morrissey – Sorrow Will Come In The End Lyrics

|
This song is cool...a little disturbing...I would be freaked out if I was Mike Joyce...I like how it's kinda like circus music. It looks like Morrissey really does hold grudges like lonely high court judges. |

Morrissey – Suedehead Lyrics

Personally, to me it sounds like someone who has a homosexual experience with what was previously a really good friend. Both people are a little obsessed with each other...but Morrissey a little disgusted by it as well after the sex. |

Morrissey – I've Changed My Plea To Guilty Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
OMG...no-one has said anything about this amazing song. I think it's so beautiful. It's so sad...I think he's trying to say that he should be locked up, and that he doesn't desever freedom...because he's not playing the game of life "correctly"...especially since no-one loves him...and therefore noone will miss him. |

Morrissey – Sing Your Life Lyrics
|
This is the song that got me hooked on Morrissey and the Smiths...its a fabulous song...just the whole concept of someone saying to another...life is pointless, who cares if you can't sing, just grab a microphone and sing. I have to say though...the BEST version of this song is the KROQ single version....blows you away...I don't care much for the album version. |

Morrissey – Seasick, Yet Still Docked Lyrics

yeah...I agree Victor...the "I know it's gonna happen..." afterwards is such perfect placement for it. This song is so great...I agree with everyone here...I guess if you've found someone you love then maybe it's hard to relate to...but I really get...that feeling when you've had too much to drink...feeling like noone loves you...hating the fact that you don't have enough looks/charm...but still managing to think that you could have something to offer and that the other person is missing out. |

Morrissey – Alma Matters Lyrics

I really love this song...I like the uptempo-ness to it and especially the lines "It's my life to ruin my way". What is talking about re: alma matters? Not really getting it...doesn't alma mean soul? So how can it matter mind body AND soul.... |

The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I love this song...I really 'get' it...even though it may totally not be the meaning the Smiths intended. I just totally understand that feeling of wanting to get in someone's car and just go anywhere...and not caring where or for how long. I also think that anyone that's ever come into a shared-apartment situation can understand the whole "it's not my home, it's their home and I'm welcome no more". The again...the whole gay guy coming out the parents scenario sounds plausible as well.
I also totally adore the rather funny line about wanting to crash with a double-decker bus...so silly...but also strangely poignant...I think a lot of us have been content to die 'accidentally' w/someone if the moment is good enough.
Does anyone know what the line "there is a light that never goes out" actually means/is referring to? |

Morrissey – How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel? Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
When I first heard this song I thought it was about his High Court trial re: wages...where he lost the case. I can imagine the judge and police etc being rude to him. I think Morrissey likes to write about personal experience. I think this song is about him. I think the "15 miles of shit" refers to his lack of a record deal for like 7 years, plus his High Court trial.
I think the uniform comments are just his general hatred for uniformed officers etc... |

Morrissey – I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
OMG...this song is brilliant. In "Who Put the M in Manchester" concert he says "I know it's gonna happen someday to ME" in the last verse.
I think he wants love but kind at the bottom of his hear, he knows that it's never really going to happen for him...I think he's lost faith...even though ironically he's saying the opposite. |

Morrissey – Such A Little Thing Makes Such A Big Difference Lyrics

I love this song...the "bicycle chains" bit is so damn powerful...especially in "Who Put the M in Manchester"...I love it...I love the violence juxtaposed with the beautiful, gentle "leave me alone I was only singing".
The only bit I don't really 'get' is the line "some people keep their brains between their legs"...I mean...I get it obviously...but have no idea what it has got to do with the song. |

yeah...I agree febird...this is a definite grower...such a beautiful song. Morrissey expresses his sentiments so beautifully. I totally know the feeling...being in love with someone who you know will never really be with you because of the way you look.
love it.
I don't understand what bloody problems Morrissey has with himself however...he's sex on legs :) |

Morrissey – Hairdresser On Fire Lyrics
|
hmm...I don't know criminaleyes...I mean...one of the lines being "too busy to kiss me"...I mean, that generally doesn't happen on more hairdresser visits. :)
o.k...I know everyone hates making gay connections with Morrissey songs...but what popped into my head was
hairdresser on fire = FLAMING hairdresser.
I mean...it's a profession where there are a lot of 'flaming' gay men...I think maybe he liked a gay London hairdresser? |
