Lynyrd Skynyrd – Simple Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i first heard shinedown's version. then i was driving home one night, listening to a classic rock station, and i heard this song. I like both versions of the song. it's pretty much all of mother's wisdom, "don't forget there is someone up above." |
Rockwell – Somebody's Watching Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
today, as i was walking through the big hall in the college's library, i noticed some shiny black objects mounted on the wall. i can't be sure, but they looked like cameras. of one thing i'm sure, they weren't there last semester. i knew about the cameras in the library's west wing, but these things in the big hall are new. it always feels like.... |
Tori Amos – Yes, Anastasia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The line "there's something we left on the windowsill there's something we left yes" indicates having to leave the life she (Anastasia) knew very quickly, maybe forgetting or just not being able to take with her something she valued. then the lines "we'll see how brave you are/ we'll se how fast you'll be running" seem to turn Anastasia's situation into a broader one that listeners can relate to, being brave enough to start a new life and determined enough to leave a bad situation. The song is about facing changes in life with courage and determination. |
Tori Amos – Sleeps With Butterflies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
does anyone else think she had a nose job? i mean, her nose looks different compared to earlier videos. way too different to be just aging or makeup. if she did have a nose job or something, it would be pretty ironic. |
Yes – Heart of the Sunrise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I live in a rural area, so when i started toi go to school in the city, i would come home feeling very stressed out. i like to play this song, close my eyes, and just listen to it. here is what it means to me: "How can the wind with its arms all around me" is the peace and security in Nature. it's amost like the wind is a protecting force. "How can the wind with so any around me I feel lost in the city" is the detachment I feel when i'm in the city. the wind is ineffective as a protecting force, instead i'm lost in the crowd. "Dreamer easy in the chair that really fits you" is basically inviting the listener to come on a musical journey. anyways, that's how the song makes me feel, it is very relaxing and peaceful. i like sunrises. |
Yes – Changes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the "one word" is "changes". i think these lines are interesting: "One word from you One word from me A clear design on your liberty Who could believe when love has gone How we move on like everyone" I wonder what the 'clear design on your liberty' is. great story, Abzita. i wish i had friends who appreciate Yes |
The Beatles – Only a Northern Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
very nice meanings listed here, but this is what it means to me: quit trying to figure it out and enjoy the song! |
The Beatles – Baby You're a Rich Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love the cheerful sarcasm of this song. i would love to know how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people... btw, the money in the bag at the zoo is just plain hilarious. maybe it has to do with the fact that if someone really did do that, the money would be very useless, in the midst of a bunch of animals??? |
Electric Light Orchestra – Rockaria! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think that "the mayor" is wrong, it should say "the man", the Man is probably Jesus, the speaker is saying that the music was so pure, even Jesus was there lol |
Electric Light Orchestra – Showdown Lyrics | 18 years ago |
very odious lyrics. |
Simon and Garfunkel – The Only Living Boy In New York Lyrics | 18 years ago |
well, one night i woke up around 3a.m. and i got the weirdest feeling that i was the only person on earth, everything was so dark and silent. every time i hear this song, i think of that time. |
Jewel – Hands Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think that this song means that kindness is an expression of reverence towards God, the line "we are God's hands/eyes" the reason we are alive today is because of other people's kindness, and so we have a responsibilty to act kindly towards others who need our help, even if our 'hands are small', they can always do something good. |
Weezer – Chess Lyrics | 18 years ago |
you ever notice how it is easier to play chess if you're not actually playing, just watching and yelling advice at the people who are trying to concentrate? i think that that is what this song is saying: you're trying to figure out what to do and everyone else says that they can see the solution, you just have to ignore all this and do what you think is right. |
The Flaming Lips – A Spoonful Weighs a Ton Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i used to check this CD out of the public library, but last time i tried to check it out it was lost. :( |
The Who – Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i just hate how limp bizkit turned this wonderful song into your generic 'feel sorry for me, i'm in such pain' radio crap. I believe this song is about knowing who your friends are, And if I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat And if I shiver, please give me a blanket Keep me warm; let me wear your coat the narrator might not be a very good person, but they are struggling and feel 'fated'. in the first part of the song, the narrator is angry at someone, but by the end of the song, he is asking that this person look out for him, help him stay out of trouble. |
Weezer – Burndt Jamb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
you don't have any entries in your journal |
Weezer – Burndt Jamb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
click on the person's screen name, then click 'user journal' above the user profile. |
Kansas – Lightning's Hand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song flat out ROCKS! maybe it's about continual changes, revolutions, the sucession of world powers throughout history (the old man knowing from experiance what is going on and what to do about it, he just goes into home and lets it pass). or this could just be about a really cool lightening storm. |
Kansas – Sparks of the Tempest Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is the theme song for the new millenium. also, one of my favorite Kansas songs. |
Kansas – Portrait (He Knew) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought of Da Vinci too, i even made a poster where i pasted these lyrics next to a printout of Da Vinci's self-portrait. i don't think this song is about Jesus, becuse the person in this song is looking for the answers and searching. Jesus already had all the answers, that is why he came to earth. And Jesus did not "live alone with his vision", he preached to many and spoke in a clear, easily understood manner, not "The words that he said were a mystery". as for the person being Einstein, the mention of 'numbers' seems to support this theory, but what was the picture that he drew? Da Vinci was an artist, so it could be any of his works(i think the portrait was his self-portrait). |
Kansas – Closet Chronicles Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hmm, i thought it was about somebody like Napolean because of the lines, "I've held this nation in my hand and yet it's not my home" Napolean ruled france, but he was from Corsica(correct me if i'm wrong, 'cause i'm not sure which island, but i know he wasn't from mainland france). Howard Hughes makes sense too, because of the reference to "42nd floor", there were no buildings that tall in Napolean's day, so my theory is probably wrong. |
Yes – Wonderous Stories Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hmmm..paraclete may be partially right, but maybe it is about learning spiritual truths AND the stories. the stories are a means by which the narrator becomes enlightened, like when Jesus told parables, they were wonderous stories that the people would listen to and learn from.. To stand so cautiously at first And then so high As he spoke my spirit climbed into the sky ^^^to come to an understanding of univeral truths, at first you may be skeptical "cautiosly at first" then, when you come to realize some kind of truth, it can be like floating into the sky. |
Yes – Leave It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
where can i find the video? |
Yes – And You And I Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i just love how Yes metions nature so much in its songs. i think many people have forgotton how to enjoy and be in awe of nature. some of Yes's songs seem to capture the scaredness of love and nature. |
Yes – We Have Heaven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think this is about the coming of spring time. the first full moon after the spring equinox perhaps? (moon-dog and March-hare). "Yes he is here" could refer to the death of Christ because Christ's death is commemorated on the first full moon after the spring equniox. |
Yes – Siberian Khatru Lyrics | 18 years ago |
what about 'bluetail' and 'tail fly'? i always picture insects hovering in the morning air. hmm.. honestly i had no clear idea what the song was about. Bech Bum might be right for all i know, a better explanation than i could think of. |
Yes – Close to the Edge Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i bought the album a few weeks ago. i love the sound effects at the beginning. did anyone else notice how 'crufixtion' is mentioned several times on the album? i think it has to do with enlightenment by getting rid of old prejudices. |
Weezer – 367 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
weezernation.com |
Weezer – I Swear It's True Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, i thought of pinkerton too when i first heard this song. i think this is now one of my favorite weezer songs. |
Weezer – Perfect Situation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i like the single version of this song better, it's a little bit different. the video's pretty cool too! (just saw it about 2 minutes ago on yahoo!) |
Simon and Garfunkel – Red Rubber Ball Lyrics | 18 years ago |
paul simon wrote it, cyrkle covered it. gotta love the song. |
Cat Stevens – Hard Headed Woman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
He means that what will really bring happieness isn't necessarily what looks good on the outside. yeah, someone though, maybe stubborn, but in the end, genuine. |
Cat Stevens – Sitting Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"The power growing in my hair" might be a Biblical refernece to the story of Sampson. He was born a Nazertie and never cut his hair and Jehovah gave him the power of extraordinary strenght. But Delilah convinced him to tell her the secret to his strength, and then when he was asleep, she called in the enemy philistines, who cut his hair and took him captive. after awhile, his hair grew back, he repented of his mistakes(the involvement w/ Delilah), and Jehovah restored his strength. then Sampson tore down a big building, killing himself along with a bunch of philistines. well, i'm not totally sure if that^^^ is what Cat is referrig to, but if it is, well...that's interesting. |
Cat Stevens – Moonshadow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, and btw, the 'moon shadow' part means that the moon is giving off enough light to create a shadow, just not as bright as on those sunny days. sort of a metaphore. |
Yes – And You And I Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lovely |
Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics | 18 years ago |
here is what a few of the lines mean to me: "someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova" it's saying that 'you' will find 'me' in a state of total failure and/or being absolutly overwhelmed by life. for some reason, i keep thinking that a champagne supernova is a burst of fireworks-just the visual image. |
Gorillaz – Tomorrow Comes Today Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the line "I don't think I'll be here too long" and "I'll pay When tomorrow Tomorrow comes today" is speaking of how animated characters sometimes don't last too long and are eventually replaced by the next fad, like Spongebob Squarepants replaced Ren and Stimpy. often, it seems that the fads of 'tomorrow' come so soon like it were 'today' just my thoughts on the inpermanence of a 2-D life (yes, pun intended :-) |
The Who – Had Enough Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hmmmm...loosing faith in people in general? especially the references to christianity (love my brother/ won't turn the other cheek) interesting how he says 'i've had enough of being good' but then says the whole world is loosing its love. |
Weezer – Say It Ain't So Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i like Panama, but you're wrong hunter benedict, Pure and Easy by The Who is the best song ever. as far as Say it ain't So goes, it's excellant. |
The Who – Pure And Easy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
like a breath rippling by: this line expresses why i love this song, so beautiful. meaning: things pass, civilization changes, music remains. |
The Who – Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, i made the 1984/animal farm connection too. awesome. did anyone else notice something about the album cover of Who's Next? they had just peed on the monolith in the background. |
Yes – I've Seen All Good People: Your Move/All Good People Lyrics | 18 years ago |
just a fun comment, i love this song, it's totally true about 'don't surround yourself with yourself' because my dad is pretty good at chess and yet i can beat him if early in the game i put him in checkmate before he has freed up any squares for his king to move into. basically, that's the easiest way to beat someone at chess. yeah, this song was the first Yes song i really listened to and liked. they're an awesome group. |
Yes – Starship Trooper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i believe that 'sister bluebird' and 'starship trooper' and 'mother life'are the same 'thing' but whatever that 'thing' is is pretty obscure. i think the song as a whole is about humans' trying to grasp higher ideas. "the talks by the water" and the "proud sons and daughters" seem to be about another civilzation, perhaps an alien one. this other civilization seems to be able to grasp the higher concepts that are unreachable in human consciouness. i hope what i just said makes sense :-? |
Yes – Starship Trooper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
okay, it's a strange song (typical of Yes) but i'll try a few key lines. "Sister Bluebird" sister implies a familial closeness with something/one of feminine qualities, bluebird is something beautiful, innocent, and natural. i'm thinking "Sister Bluebird" is kind of like saying 'mother nature' except 'sister' implies that the speaker is equal to SB. gotta go, i'll try to post more later. |
Yes – Roundabout Lyrics | 18 years ago |
does anybody else notice that liverdude just posted the same exact thing on two different yes songs? how retarded, btw, yes lyrics DO have meaning, yet often they are nebulous. this song always makes me feel like i'm in the mountains, looking down on a valley through a telescope. |
Weezer – My Best Friend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
why do people think it's about a DOG??? i'm not sure where people keep getting that idea. there's nothing in the song that says whether it's about a dog or not. i'm just wondering... |
Weezer – Island In The Sun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
you're probably right. i've thought of the same thing before. |
Yes – Time and a Word Lyrics | 18 years ago |
wow, i'm the first to comment of this song? i think this song is about living in a balanced way, despite living in a self-destructive world. the main point is- the time is now and the word is love. |
Grandaddy – The Warming Sun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i like how it starts "in a dream..." there is always that time when maybe we could have done something different and maybe what is only a dream now could have been a reality had things turned out differently. being 'overmisunderstood', then just wishing he could be normal and 'enjoy the warming sun' wow, great song. i wish more people would comment on grandaddy songs. |
Weezer – We Are All on Drugs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
does any one know what's up with the changed lyrics? compare: "i want to confiscate your drugs/i don't think i can get enough" to "i want to reach a higher plane/where things will never be the same" ???? |
