It annoys me that people always relate DM to drugs and mistake Dave as the songwriter. Martin has written nearly all DM songs from 1982-2001! Also, Dave's drug abuse was not THAT serious during Violator, anyway. Please don't always see him as a junkie. The song is about being in love and not ruining everything with unnecessary words or caring about what other people say, obviously. The narrator is telling his girlfriend to simply enjoying being with him, enjoying the silence. |

Well, I think the song is about sex, not exactly S&M, but just sex in general. Will you give it to me? Will you take the pain I'll give to you Again and again And will you return it? These lines speak for it. As for its sinisterness, enjoying and craving for sex has been considered a sin. IMHO Martin uses the word for some shocking effect. Anyway, this is one of my all-time faves. Brilliant song! |

Well, I'm sorry to say this if it is not a public knowledge. Martin is/was currently undergoing a divorce and this song is said to be written about his children. The song is very Depeche-like. Nothing new but hey, it sounds good, anyway. Dave's vocals are amazing. |
