Until i met my girlfriend/fiancee, i had never heard this song. When we would talk about songs that remind us of each other...mine were mainly cure songs...hehe... and this one she said was about her... and lately ive seen this... and its true but painful. I've been looking in the mirror for so long. That I've come to believe my souls on the other side. Oh the little pieces falling, shatter. Shards of me, To sharp to put back together. To small to matter, But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces. i see this part speaking of her past....having no one to listen to her....she thinks nothing she thinks or says matters... and with people leaving her life as they do she thinks her happiness doesnt exist in this side of the mirror... its funny i not even thinking of this song...compared her to a piece of cracked and chipped glass i hold in my hands...and if i even nick the edge it would effect the whole surface....thats how delicate she is.. And all of this, Will make sense when I get better this part....i see as her before she met me....she was lonely and unhappy....now she smiles and feels someone cares about her and its not in her mind.. The way he views the "girl" in this song makes me think he realizes how special she is, how every step she takes, every breath, every touch she throws his way he will not take for granted. He found the one that makes him complete. It is true when guys fall in love they see the women as a girl..and all they want too do is please and make her happy, like when she was younger and didnt realize how cruel and unjust the world is. i said to myself many years ago that when i found someone like the girl in this song i would never let her go...Over the years as i watched myself grow older and the sand of time in my hour glass of life fall before me, i didnt think i would ever find this person... till a few weeks ago. Kristy. She is just like this girl to me... she has soo many levels i could never explore them all....she makes me wonder all the time... i can never reach her, and never make her as happy as she should be. Ill never make her see how much i care for her. She makes me feel so young and happy, i could just sit for hours and listen to her voice, watch her paint, or just be near her for hours. Shes the person i want to grow even older with, she makes me complete. She gives me the contrast i need in life, the happy and loving feeling and the sad, alone, and scared feeling when i dont talk to her.. reminds me that everything has a beginning and an ending...its the middle that matters.. She has completely turned me inside out and upside down, im lost inside myself b/c of her. Every time i will see her, ill feel like a 12 year old boy that just touched a boob for the first time.. This song is exactly how i see her in my mind and how much i love her...On a good note.. this song doesnt have a sad ending.. hopefully kristy and I will not. 2 people have talked about my favoruite line in any nirvana song...."Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld So I can sigh eternally", and i think thats is really sad. your too worried about the whole fucking song and the name, looking for clues on one of its meanings! yea big deal pennyroyal tea is an abortion chemical, I THINK WE KNOW THAT. Everyone knows kurt wasnt that forward, using it to cleanse his body makes way more sense. Anyway. leonard cohen was the guy in the heart shaped box video on the cross i believe from my days in nirvana, 90-95; so if thats wrong, im sorry, but i do remember reading he and kurt met at his house, and he or kurt gave them some kind of flower i believe you see in that video, and kurt asked him to be in that video. that is truly a powerful line in the surface meaning of it and the one you do not see. May the wind be with you kurt. happy birthday to you and me in 3 days .... you know its odd, if kurt hadnt of died and was a retired musicain now, would he be so popular? he became the oppisite of what he wanted to be. and he achived his goal of being on "people", after he died..... miss you. |

ive been listening to this song alot lately. i read a guy talk about this song about 6 years ago. i never had the single and heard this song till the boxset. its on my top 10 of the box set, hell top 5 really. this song reminds me of what i was and how i was like a couple years ago when i was doing alot better than i am now in every way possible. life turns too much to keep up sometimes. in any event i think this is robert looking back at when he was young, before he was in a band. and looking back at how this all effected mary. one song i can truly beileve its not about a book or poem hehe. robert, if you ever read this, heres some food for thought on your "growing older" thing thats always on your mind, from one of your favorite writers.. | the old saying "the hand is no different than what it creates" (something to that effect) ......this song...has that, and i think shows that in kafka and smith, i do think this is about kafka and felice, just elise if from elisabeth in terribles. this song started me into a journey of the mind of kafka.....Kafka books i think are a piece of him....example ...samsa is a cryptogram for kafka....telling his disgust, love , pain, and life. like robert does in each album and song. i read somewhere robert or his father wanted him or to be, an auther, if you look at this all the albums i think they are each a chapter of pain, love, and all the above in his existance.
