Run-DMC – You Talk Too Much Lyrics 17 years ago
“I said your mouth is big, size extra large
And when you open it, it's like my garage “

This song is highly amusing.

The Beatles – With a Little Help from My Friends Lyrics 17 years ago
It is clearly about masturbation… Just look at the lyrics. These parts are the most obvious.

“What do I do when my love is away?
(Does it worry you to be alone?)
How do I feel by the end of the day?
(Are you sad because you’re on your own)
No I get by with a little help from my friends,”

“Do you need anybody?,
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody?
I want somebody to love.”

“What do you see when you turn out the light,
I can’t tell you, but I know it’s MINE.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends.”

C’mon people! I mean… “I can’t tell you, but I know it’s MINE.”

I rest my case.

Bobby Pickett – Monster Mash Lyrics 17 years ago
MASH GOOOOOD!!! This song is great. Why am I the only one to say anything about it? Everyone has heard it. Come on people. Let's do the mash.

It makes me think of Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, George A. Romero, Bela Lugosi, Stephen King, Bruce Campbell, Peter Cushing, Brad Dourif, Roddy McDowall, Wes Craven, Linda Blair, Edgar Allan Poe, John Carpenter, the entire cast of “Freaks” and a hell of a lot of other horror legends hanging out at the Carnival of Souls or some place like that.

I would like to add that this song is played during the opening credits of the film 'Bride of Chucky'. The song works great in the movie. You all should see it.

The Kinks – Apeman Lyrics 18 years ago
Ray is saying that the human race consist of a bunch of losers that are only good at destroying the planet. He wants to get out of the crazy human way of doing things and “make like an ape man”. Now I would just like to add that I think Ray sings “Cos the air pollution is f**king up my eyes” and not “fogging up my eyes” even though the lyrics printed on the album “Lola Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround” claim differently.

The Kinks – Picture Book Lyrics 18 years ago
I didn't think this song was that well known. I always assumed it was an obscure song in the Kinks huge lot of songs. I wouldn't expect this song to have eight replies when so many other great songs by "the Kinks" have no replies. Well, anyway, it’s a great song and it is fun to play on my guitar.

It's not the best "Kinks" song ("Waterloo Sunset" is) but it's kinda groovy.

The Kinks – A Well Respected Man Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is a great song. It's a simple song, that is some how complex too, about a simple person, a well respected simple person, that probably shouldn't be as well respected as he is.

"And he hopes to grab his father's loot,
When Pater passes on."

Muhaha! That’s kind of mean and un-respectful. Wouldn’t you agree?

The Beatles – Helter Skelter Lyrics 18 years ago
This is going to sound strange but I always thought it sounded like it was either about making love or a slaughter. Yah, like I said it does sound strange but listen to the song and think about it.

Grateful Dead – Casey Jones Lyrics 19 years ago
WOW! I don't think anyone has talked about the song yet. All that is being talked about are hippies. Could we all just get of the talk about Hippies and talk about Casey Jones this is a great song.

The Who – Pinball Wizard Lyrics 19 years ago
Elton John’s version of the song is horrible he is always taking great songs by other artist and messing them up like his version of The Beatles “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” I don't know why Elton John does this; he is a talented musician and can come up with his own stuff which is normally not all that bad. Now off of my rant about Elton John and onto The Who’s Pinball Wizard. I think Pinball Wizard is a great song and I don’t have to go into the meaning of it seeing it has been said over and over again already.

The Doors – The Crystal Ship Lyrics 19 years ago
Dude Festizo it's groovy you listen to Syd Barrett. Barrett was a musical genius like Morrison I really dig their music. It's too bad they are both thought of as crazy by many people. They certainly where not insane. It was just the drugs that got to both of them. Now enough about that onto The Crystal Ship. The Crystal Ship is another masterpiece by the great Jim Morrison. Sure there is a great deal of drug references in the song but if you read the lyrics carefully you will see there is a deeper and more universal meaning hidden behind the hallucinations. It’s about life, how you should live life freely by not getting pushed around until you’re forced into conformity.

Pink Floyd – Vegetable Man Lyrics 19 years ago
I really hope this will be officially released some day (along with scream thy last scream) because it's a damn good song

anyway I recon the lyrics sound more like this

In yellow shoes I get the blues
Though I walk the streets with my plastic feet
With blue velvet trousers, make me feel pink
There's a kind of stink about blue velvet trousers
In my paisley shirt I look a jerk
And my turquoise waistcoast is quite out of sight
But oh oh my haircut looks so bad
Vegetable man where are you?

So I change my gear, and I find my knees,
And I cover them up with the latest cut,
And my pants and socks are caught in a box,
It don't take long to buy darn old socks,
The watch, black watch
My watch with a black face
And a date in a little hole,
And all the lot it's what I've got,
It's what I wear, it's what you see,
It must be me, it's what I am,
Vegetable man.

I've been looking all over the place for a place for me,
But it ain't anywhere, it just ain't anywhere.
Vegetable man, vegetable man,
He's the kind of fellow, you’ve just gonna see if you can,
Vegetable man

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Syd Barrett – Dark Globe Lyrics 19 years ago
Alright! Syd isn’t mad or schizophrenic but he is a genius. This song is so clear and logical I don’t see why you all find it so hard to understand. Syd starts off by asking where have the people he had at one time in his life depended and called friends all go. Then he goes into asking if he was to get hurt or killed would those people he once knew (most likely Pink Floyd) still even care enough about him to help or show him some form of caring emotion. The song is that simple he just wants to know if he was to go would he even be missed. I love this song even though it is so depressing.

Thanks Syd once again I have spent an hour of my life trying to decipher another one of your cryptic songs looking for meaning but once again came up with nothing. well not actually nothing I have about ten takes on what this song might be about but they are all creeping me out so I’m just not going to say anything other than Syd your the greatest

Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics 19 years ago
Its sounds like roger says “I used to read books but there so inefficient” or “I used to read books there inefficient” but than again he probably is just making noises

Now that I have tried to answer Dom Stapleton’s question and probably failed horribly. I have a question of my own not to say that Arnold Layne’s take on this song is wrong because I think he described it perfectly but I was talking to a friend of mine and he said the John being referred to was possibly John Lennon. Now he wasn’t really serious about it but I thought a bit about that and it made some sense. Roger Waters has said he is a fan of Lennon’s and he credits him as being the most important poet/musician of the 20th century. John Lennon we all know stood for peace and the world being one at peace with itself so lines such as the first two in the song that say “Fuck all that we've got to get on with these got to compete with the wily Japanese” may be saying fuck your position on peace and unity when there is war and competition out there for us instead. Also the line hold on john may refer to John Lennon’s song Hold On which has Lennon repeating the words hold on John. Now most of this theory is not mine it is my friend Walt’s so I going to stick with Arnold Layne’s explanation I just thought Walt’s was interesting.

Pink Floyd – Wearing the Inside Out Lyrics 19 years ago
Afenton is right you did at one time need to be there to understand what is being talked about. I have so for those that haven’t and need it explained to them I will explain it. It’s about a man that has basically isolated himself from the world and all he has is his depression. Within isolation he no longer has the need to talk seeing there is no one around to talk to when you’re staying out of sight. The man in the song no longer feels emotion nor has realized he has lost it. In time he dose realize that he isn’t doing well and slowly tries bringing himself out of his depression his living death you could call it. Therefore he is creeping back to life meaning leaving his depression and the part about his nervous system all awry means he is begging to feel emotion again. I really hoped I’ve helped explain it. I think this is the best post-waters song Floyd has.
