okay i have the making of the neon ballroom and daniel says that (and this is not a direct quote because i cant remember exactly what he said) this song is about not finding love, not wanting love, not caring about it.. i personally think that this song is about the stigma, the happy-couple-thing about being in love. how your supposed to feel and behave. the risk and the fear in being happy.. the alternative would be that this song is about a series of one night stands- or possibly even sex. haha who knows? |

To me, this song is about the futility of life, the sorrow in it. It is very much a wake-up call to those who do their best to be typical. It is like Brian sharing his great-inner-secret with us. This song is like painting a portrait; with what you hear, and what you feel, and what you recognise(re-learn). It is like a lament for the life he has turned away from. Repression of emotion- a dull life which is reflected in the narator's sexuality (not being able to sustain an erection). Dreams of a face that is "pure perfection", valuing physical beauty. A perfect face which perhaps reflects the soul? Or am i being sentimental? |

I really hate you all for over analysing these songs. Who the hell cares what molks was thinking of when he wrote this song. It has its own individual meaning to everyone and it just so happens that it's a beautiful song with equally beautiful lyrics and i love placebo for it. Ether is an anesthetic but im not sure if its used anymore.. like any drug, you could probably kill yourself with it if you overdose so the line "i'll be your ether, you'll breathe me in, you wont release", could be interpreted as suicide, yes. |

This is definitely my favourite song on the album, and even thought im not really sure what it's about i kinda just assume it to be about brian in love with another man. It's hard to know whether this is actually about a real experience brian's had, i just assume its made-up. It's basically about taking a beating for the person you love.. Learning to live with pain for the sake of still being with the person, which is sweet. |

I think the correct lyrics actually are; "With armageddon calling". Armageddon means the end of all things.. So this could be interpreted as the end is calling. I think the mud and the rains which brian talks about in the song is metaphorical. The girl which he talks about is "insane", maybe she's having a break down and the sliding mud is an indication of this. |

haha you guys are all wrong:).. Brian Molko used to live in Luxembourg and showed great leadership skills at an early age and then so almost became a priest. Instead he moved to london to study drama as he wanted to become and actor. Brian stoped going to church etc, he obviously turned away from the church/ religion. I think it would be taking it too far as to say that he is against religion and christianity and all that stuff, but to me this song is about Jesus. "God's in crisis, he's over". In this day and age people dont value morals and beliefs etc. Brian speaks of god as a trend and as we become more advanced, his trend is dying out. Brian speaks of a bleeding heart; "Everytime i rise i see you falling, can you find me a space inside your bleeding heart". At the crusisxion of Jesus, he was pierced in his side, I've always thought he was pierced through his heart.. I think its not so much that brian turned away from the church or god or whatever, i think its more that he feels that god turned away from him, like gods love for him has run out. Its not so much that someone feels unworthy or brian's love as someone wrote, i think its more that brian feels unwrothy of gods love. So if you put this song into the same context as one of brians love songs, he may seem arrogant or ambiguous when really he's eating humble pie. He's telling the story from the point of view of an ex-lover and he's heartbroken and feels let down etc. Its just that in this case, god plays the role of his ex-lover and he's writing a song about the aftermath of their realtionship. So anyway if you think about it, it makes sense.. |

This song is about brian molko- he wrote it about himself. Its track number 12 on "Without You Im Nothing" album. He grew up in Luxembourg and he hated it. He hated schooling because he was an outcast, and he thought that life in luxembourg was boring. At shows whenever he introduces the song he says: "I lived in Luxembourg for a number of years. He cant understand why it ended, although he's over the relationship she made him feel like he was the one for her. This girl was obviously everything he wanted.. laying on the grass in summertime chewing gum and also drinking alcohol. This is very much something men do together when 'bonding' instead he's drinking with a girl.. I just saw Foo Fighters live on TV perfroming this song, and i have a whole new meaning of the song. Dave is a legend, he was great with nirvana (although his talents were possibly wasted on drums) and i think he just keeps getting better and better. He's amazing. You can interpret the song as being very positive, speaking of new begining's and 'rebirths' so to speak, and when he sings "is someone getting the best.. the best of you" you feel happy, like he is telling you not to let yourself go to waste, to allow someone be witness to you and see the best in you. The other side to the song is heart-wrenching and quite mournful in a way. It speaks of death, pain, helplessness/uselessness, abuse etc. When dave sings "is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you", its almost stalking. He makes you feel taken advantage of, like you've been ripped off or taken for a fool. I have to admit, until tonight I'd only ever heard 2 of Foo Fighter's songs. Im a huge nirvana fan, but i think Dave has accomplished something more complex than nirvana. You listen to Foo fihgters, you watch them and you cant help but feel joy. You do the same with nirvana, and you cant help but feel the burden of kurt's sadness. You feel kurt's emptiness, and most of all his lack of absense. Maybe this is because dave's songs are impersonal, where as you have to make your own sense out of kurts lyrics.. Basically, I think there is more to dave than what meets the eye. I love this song, and i've become a deifnite foo fighter fan. |
