Daft Punk – Instant Crush (feat. Julian Casablancas) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Seems pretty straightforward. Three friends growing up who were all friends, 2 guys and 1 girl. This is apparent due to the line "I got this picture of us kids in my head". The point of view from the person singing the song never had the balls to ask the girl out, " I thought about what I wanna say, but I never really know where to go so I chained myself to a friend". The female took interest in the other friend noted in the lyric about the dog and her running off. The female has been confiding to the narrator all of the problems she's having with her partner and the narrator is getting upset/hurt because he has to listen to it and he's getting tired of hearing it which upsets her obviously because she was there for him at some point in time when he had problems and needed someone to talk to, "I listened to your problems now listen to mine. I didn't want to anymore." I don't think the feelings are mutual between the female and the narrator, but the narrator is doing enough that her partner/his friend is starting to catch on to how he feels about her and it would obviously ruin their friendship they've had since childhood. This line is really interesting to me, "Take it, I don't want to sing anymore." It's like he's breaking the 4th wall, the narrator is talking directly at us and he does take a break singing at that point. I don't know what to make of it, except maybe the whole song is him talking to a therapist...in which case the listener would be the therapist. |
Iron & Wine – Your Fake Name Is Good Enough for Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Anyone else hear Cousin It from adams family at like 2:30? :) Nobody taking a stab at the meaning yet? I have no clue. I can barely make an educated guess. Seems to hint at a third world country at times, maybe after a catastrophe...but then I get hints of an apocalypse and maybe good vs bad. Phones ringing...happy kids...and singing in every verse. I got nothing. |
Dr. Dog – The Breeze Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song reminds me of Nick Drake a hell of a lot... So good! |
MGMT – Of Moons, Birds & Monsters Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Am i the only one who will be eternally tormented by wondering what he is saying after the lyrics of "He's a rat" and before the lyrics of "To catch a monster". It kind of sounds like... "Hey, we could be falling in love but you could be with me. Now that you've fallin in love It's hard to think of you That can't be right because it doesn't make complete sense...but he is saying something! |
Spiritualized – Death Take Your Fiddle Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yea tele your lyrics are correct. This song reminds me of the movie "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly". In the movie a guy has a stroke, the breathing in the song just reminds me of that. |
Cut Copy – Feel the Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Thanks to fanjita I think I have been able to decipher the vocoder lyrics. Sounds like: "When I hold you in my arms you'll be finding what you are searching for. Put your lips up close, feel the love, into your arms I fall." |
Kevin Drew – Lucky Ones Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Why do people bother posting the lyrics if they aren't correct? |
My Morning Jacket – Strangulation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I can't believe nobody has commented on this song. The lyrics are pretty straightforward. I consider this to be one of mmj's best songs. |
The Weepies – Riga Girls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yea, I have no idea. I enjoy the song. I tried looking up definitions and whatnot of "riga" and all I could find was that there is a "gulf of riga" and apparently its the capitol of Latvia. |
Iron & Wine – Upward Over the Mountain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Am I the only one who sees this as a sad song? Its obvious its about a mother/son relationship. This is a person who is trying to break free from his mother, but at the same time is asking for some forgiveness. "Sons are like birds flying upward over teh mountain." Thinking of birds in real life, once they leave their nest thats it. I think flying over the mountain implies that he has the potential for great things...unlike his possible past involving lack of faith, "I lost all the fear of the lord i was given," and possible law trouble. There may have been a point in this sons life where he was stealing from his mother for his needs. However, once he got things situated hes telling her she has nothing to worry about. All i'm curious about is the, "remember the night that the dog had her pups in the pantry? blood on the floor & the fleas on their paws and you cried 'til the morning." Is this just a random memory? Or is this the point where things finally "broke down" in their relationship? Such strong words to just be a random memory...has to have some sort of significance. |
