The Breeders didnt make this song about heroin, it was always about heroin - at the time it came out it was a very controversial song. also, it isnt (or doesnt seem to me) a happy song when the beatles did it. its a great cover and i love it to bits, but the song has always been what its about - no one has changed the meaning (who do you think mother superior was always and always will be?) |

I love this song so much, but i cringe everytime i hear it now. I danced with some guy at a club to this song, and he spent the entire time trying to get on me. beautiful song - but i cant listen to it without my skin crawling now!

the verses are about one of the guys in the band (i cant remember which) but the 'im at beer class every thursday night' are when he had to miss band practice because of AA meetings. and the 'im in cedars every single night' are about him going to hospital after drinking too much. |
