A Silver Mt. Zion – Teddy Roosevelt's Guns Lyrics 14 years ago
Whether Teddy carried a gun or fought a war doesn't matter as much as the fact that to many people, Teddy is the traditional figurehead of modern Western imperialism. This song critiques Canada for riding the wave of imperialism to a over-indulgent, corrupt, lazy, greedy, loveless future.

OutKast – Gasoline Dreams (feat. Khujo) Lyrics 14 years ago
For me, this is like an updated "Fight the Power". It's all about how america is stifling the dreams of young black men through racism, drugs, brutality, and the ghetto. How can someone have dreams when all your role models are locked up, strung out, or paying child support? If the "youth full of fire" aren't given the chance to break out of the cycle of violence and poverty, their energies will naturally be used to ignite their own dreams.

OutKast – Toilet Tisha Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is not about suicide in my opinion. Why would that even make sense? I think what it's really about is a girl who chooses to perform her own coathanger abortion on the toilet, but dies in the process. The fatality she chooses is that of her baby, but she ends up dying too. I think the song has a lot more social meaning in this interpretation. There are lots of suicide songs already written, but not many addressing the complex issues of abortion, especially as it relates to the black teenage mothers in america.

Sum 41 – We're All To Blame Lyrics 18 years ago
Am I the only one who can clearly see that if Sum 41 was influenced by anybody in writing this song, it was Metallica? The intro says it all. And also, "influenced by" does not equal "shameless rip-off of". Just because every band in the 90's did songs with mellow verses and heavy choruses doesn't mean they were ripping off Nirvana. That said, this song is awesome. I like people singing about stuff that matters. I don't see where religion fits into it all though. Care to explain?

Buckcherry – Crazy Bitch Lyrics 18 years ago
OK...80's hair metal bands are legendary as "men who look like women" and "men who write really cheesy, dated guitar riffs", or "men who died from overdoses and STD's", or even "men who had sex with Pamela Anderson". Definitely NOT "legends of music". Enough about them. Buck Cherry? They have a catchy Aerosmith style riff that's cool enough to make me not change the channel. But in terms of lyrical ability and tact? They fail, miserably. And this site IS in fact about the lyrics.

The Black Eyed Peas – Where Is The Love? (Feat. Justin Timberlake) Lyrics 18 years ago
"negative images is the main criteria.
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria."

The black eyed peas are a bunch of hypocrites. If I look at this song without looking at any other song the bep have ever done, then I can say it's a good song. As soon as I notice that they've also done "My Humps", they lose all credibility.

Syphilis. This song reeks of syphilis.

Matisyahu – King Without A Crown Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is just so awesome. It's about the power of trusting God in everyday life. also from a Jewish standpoint, it refers to the wait for a Messiah that will come, but correct me if I'm wrong, in that some believe that we can reveal the Messiah through our actions.

House of Heroes – Serial Sleepers Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is a great call for Christians to stop living our routine, lazy lives and actually go out there and fulfill the Great Comission. We "slay" people we know by neglecting to tell them about the freedom that comes with knowing Christ, and allowing them to spend eternity without Him.

Muse – Plug In Baby Lyrics 18 years ago
Anybody real music freaks notice that the intro is basically a take on Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings? Makes sense why it could seem like it was meant for violin. Because 70 years ago, it was.

Switchfoot – Dare You To Move Lyrics 19 years ago
I was listening to this song today after struggling with an issue in my life, and just reaching out for the love of God... and as I listened to the words, "I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move like the day never happened
Today never happened before " and "Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself
Where you gonna go
Where you gonna go

Salvation is here...... " I realized exactly what this song is about in relation to my life. It's a song for everyone who thinks that their sins are too great or too numerous to be forgiven. Fortunately for us, Christ stills stands, right where we left Him. He's still waiting for us. He's already forgotten the bad stuff we've done. All we need to do is pick ourselves up off the floor and reach out to Him.

Blind Guardian – And Then There Was Silence Lyrics 19 years ago
Yes, it's all coming together now... You guys have it right, this song is clearly about the fall of Troy... but I just wanted to point something out for anyone who's interested... The line "Revenge will be taken by Rome" points to Virgil's Aeneid, where Aeneas escapes from Troy, and his two sons found the city of Rome. Later, the Romans attack the Greeks, and the rest is history...

Rush – Tom Sawyer Lyrics 19 years ago
uh...yeah. And Neil Peart writes for the most part, not Geddy Lee. sorry to burst your bubble. This song is absolutely amazing. Rush's ability to make excellent music and cover unique subjecr matter is what got me into them. Rush is cool, because with every other band out there, evn great ones like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, songs are reduced to either being about love or drugs. Rush has taken a typically uncreative lyrical genre and given the world somthing to think about.

A-Ha – Here I Stand And Face The Rain Lyrics 19 years ago
Wow. You guys should put more comments on this song. The song itself is amazing, but the whole song is something you FEEL. It's real to everyone, the pain of losing a friend, not necessarily a girlfriend, but a dearly loved friend who was once close and then drifted away.
