Blur – Parklife Lyrics 19 years ago
No it is "morning soup". I've got the Parklife alnum and inside the leaflet the lyrics say "morning soup". However, you are right on one thing, it makes no sense.
I know what this song is about, having a go at americanisation (like many of their songs), yet i have no idea what the lyrics mean. I assume "parklife" means "american life" but there arecertain lyrics which just don't seem to mean anything. e.g. "John's got brewers droop..."
There are lyrics however which can totally be adapted to the "having a go at americanisation" like the "gut lord marching" line, obviously taking the piss out of obesity which seems to be popular in america.
I think the second verse talks about what english people should be doing, e.g. "have a cup of tea..." (a very english thing to do) and "feed the pidgeons".
But as i said before, most of this song doesn't make direct sense.

Looking at it again, i can see a few lyrics are wrong.
The following are taken from www.coldplaying.com, so i doubt they're incorrect:

how long before I get in
before it starts, before I begin
how long before you decide
before I know what it feels like
where to?
Where do I go?
if you've never tried then you'll never know
how long do I have to climb
up on the side of this mountain of mine

look up, I look up at night
planets are moving at the speed of light
climb up, up in the trees
every chance that you get
is a chance you seize
how long am I gonna can stand
with my head stuck under the sand
I start before I can stop
before I see thing the right way up

all that noise, all that sound
all those places that i have found
and birds go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand

ideas that you'll never find
or the inventors could never design
the buildings that you put up
Japan and China... all lit up
the sign that I couldn't read
or the light that I couldn't see
some things you have to believe
but others are puzzles, puzzling me

all that noise, all that sound
all those places that i have found
and birds go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand

all those signs I knew what they meant
something you can't invent
Some get made, and some get sent
ooh
words go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand
oh, when you see it then you'll understand

I love this song. It's very clocks-esque.
Although, the lyrics on here are written wrong.
Its "And birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you how it all began."

Blur – Song 2 Lyrics 19 years ago
I think they may have been high when writing this, because the lyrics are totally random (.....head checked, by a jumbo jet). But there is a lyric in the song which could make some sense;
"Well, I lie and I'm easy
All the time but I am never sure"
But still, it could be referring to when they are high, but maybe by the time they came to write this line they may have come back to "the real world", because it makes much more sense than the other lines.

"Jackanory" is cockney rhyming slang. It means "story".

I agree with most of the comments made, but something just gave me the urge to express what i think a certain verse means;
".....used to do surgery for girls in the eighties, but gravity always wins".
Now you may call me a perv, but when i hear that i get the impression that he is talking about breats implants, and the man did the surgery. The lyric "gravity always wins" means no matter if you get a breast implant, gravity always pulls them down, i.e. they're still going to be saggy in the end.
