Beirut – Elephant Gun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
For me, this is about being young and discontent, growing old and being discontent. Throughout life you take down your "elephants" one by one (to paraphrase). For me, this song is heavy with disillusionment and disenchantment with friendships, relationships and dreams. Is there something better out there if you abandon what people expect from you? Here's to finding what that better something is. |

Cat Power – Say Lyrics | 17 years ago |
maybe its about learning to really be true to what you feel and think instead of fooling yourself into feeling and thinking what you think others want you to... maybe? its an insanely beautiful song and an insane topic |
The Long Winters – New Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"twice you burned your life's work once to start a new life and once just to start a fire" I love that lineee. This song is really cool, its like hes met someone he really respects and hes just singing her praises for what shes done with her life. Its like shes sucessful without being wraped up in it all. |

Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The first time I head this song, I liked it, but didn't give it much thought. Then as I kept listing to it and picking up the little nuances. Ever notice how the paino sounds vaguely like a heart monitor? Brilliant. Gibbard’s words are so wonderful that I can see it all playing out in my head as I listen to it. And I get tears in my eyes. |
of Montreal – Nickee Coco and the Invisible Tree Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don’t know whether to feel bad for poor Nickee for being torn from her lovely tree or happy that she was found. I wish they had given Nickee's perspective on being found. This song puts a smile on my face. |

Neutral Milk Hotel – Everything Is Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song makes me smile. It's so happy compared to most everything else Jeff Mangum does. Its just got that relaxed, content feel to it. I love it. |
Ani DiFranco – To the Teeth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
