Peter Gabriel – Solsbury Hill Lyrics 17 years ago
I used to think it was about suicide, but that was my own morbid interpretation of it.

Muse – Sober Lyrics 17 years ago
I think there is a very interesting parallel in this song with regard to the lyric "And you're the only reason / That I remain unfrozen." Alcohol happens to freeze at a much, much cooler temperature than water (-173 degrees fahrenheit to be precise). It's why you keep vodka in the freezer -- it keeps it cold, and it won't freeze solid.

Matt's certainly clever enough to have intended a connection.

VAST – Dirty Hole Lyrics 18 years ago
I see Crosby equating a "dirty hole" (I.E., a grave) to a woman's, er... "dirty hole." Whoever this woman is, anyone that apparently sleeps with her "dies" of a broken heart, or is poisoned by her. Whether it's STD's or not is irrelevant, it's about the almost suicidal act of giving in to her, and having sex with her.

The Killers – Midnight Show Lyrics 19 years ago
One word: MURDER.

"I took my baby's breath beneath the chandelier of stars and atmosphere, and watched her disappear?"

Somehow I doubt it's simply kissing her breath away. And the synthesizer background mimics the distant sound of sirens, just like in "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine." This band is clearly fixated on death, jealousy, and murder.

Also, at the very end, you can hear the distant and enraged lyric, "She said she loved me!"

Great song. Surprised it hasn't gotten more comments.

Jimmy Eat World – Just Tonight... Lyrics 19 years ago
I think the intensity of this song derives most from the idea of that one moment, one night, being driven by uncontrollable lust; and then being completely disgusted afterward.

Completely opposite poles of emotion right there, and I think it's very strong.

Jimmy Eat World – Night Drive Lyrics 19 years ago
I doubt it's what the song is about, but parts of this song, for some reason or another, make me think "date rape."

Muse, as always, exhibiting exceedingly clever and articulate lyrics. Truly an amazing song, in both the musical and lyrical sense.

The Who – Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics 19 years ago
It's the anti-revolution song.

New boss, old boss, all governments are the same: full of shit.

The Who – Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics 19 years ago
Pete Townshend has always been a man obssessed with finding himself. He was always confused about his own meaning and significance, and this song simply reflects that.

Another interesting thing to consider -- Pete could never write a sad song without it also being vicious at some point or another. Just listen to the song's bridge.
