I just thought today that the song reminds me of the Shrike character in the "Hyperion" books: "Terrifying scream ... He's half man and half machine ... Rides the Metal Monster ... Planets devastated Mankind's on its knees A saviour comes from out the skies" Shrike is a metallic-like creature (though it is described as living-metal). It has a giant metal tree on which he impales his victims, they bleed there, unable to die and agonized and screaming every second. Strangely though, the Shrike was sent from the distant future as a savior of sorts. It fits in a way. |

I wonder if they're sarcastic: "Late at night I find myself again wondering and watching tv." He sings about the lazy people that spend their lives in front of TV, watch pretty pictures and dramatic news and think about how they must save the world and why don't nobody do something. All that while lying in front of the TV. Just a feeling maybe... But I think it is not the FOREST METAL song people think it to be. |
