Gary Numan – Telekon Lyrics

Numan stated that he was on the verge of a nervous breakdown at the time, which is why the lyrics don't make a lot of sense. |

Excellent song. Seems it's about leaving the past behind or maybe just simple river boat travel?? |

Visage – Visa-age Lyrics

Travelling from one place to another, never in one place too long. Crossing paths with people you've met before but never really got to know.
The first time I heard song this I freaked out completely. The beat...the insane sounding synths. All of the songs on the album are incredible but Visa-age is just completely off the hook! |

Ultravox – Cut And Run Lyrics

Song about suicide. Great song too. No other electronic band could rock out like Ultravox could at that time. The only one that came close was Gary Numan (listen to his live albums Living Ornaments '79 and '80). |

An ode to the Clint Eastwood 'spaghetti' westerns. There's some seriously wicked drum playing in this song. Alright Rusty. |

Gary Numan – I Die: You Die Lyrics

damrat, I've noticed the same thing. On the album it's very clear that he's saying "does everything stop when the old tape fails." Maybe there was a last minute change. |

Adam Ant – Wonderful Lyrics

Great song. THe lyrics are self-explanatory. I agree with the other posters that this is Adam Ant being more mature and serious. Gone is the make-up and outfits. Just a very well written down to earth song. |

Kraftwerk – Trans Europa Express Lyrics

Kraftwerk did not get rap started. It just kicked off the electronic/rap connection...like Afrika Bambatta and The Soul Sonic Force and the song 'Planet Rock'. After that loads of rap artists began lifting Kraftwerk's sound. |

Then again, it could be a about a little boy is calling information to find out about the little girl he was in love with. The happy home could have been an imaginary one for the author and little Marie. |

I agree with Tiger and deranged. Seems to be a man trying to contact his daughter after a divorce where the wife got custody of the little girl. Awesome song. |

Yes. Their sound has The Beatles written all over it. |

The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics

I've listened to the Sgt Pepper version over and over again. I don't hear, "cranberry sauce"...I hear, "I buried Paul". Just turn your stereo up loud towards the end of the song. The 'I', the 'b,' and 'P' are very audible. It's part of the Paul is dead gimmick. |

Warren Cann has stated that he wrote these lyrics about a particular person. As far as I know he hasn't revealed who it's about. |

Ultravox – I Remember (Death In The Afternoon) Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I picture a dreary post-World War2 Europe. Perhaps the song writer is reminiscing about the times he had just before the war.
If there is such a thing as the perfect song then I Remember [Death In The Afternoon] is it! |

Gary Numan – Cars Lyrics
|
Cars didn't ruin his career in America. One thing about Numan is that he was just too strange for most Americans, even though Cars was a hit. It's kind of like DEVO's Whip-It. It was a hit but from what I remember most people thought they were too odd and goofy. The album Telekon itself was even darker and weirder than TPP and there was no catchy single to top the charts (in the US). According to Numan's autobiography, the record company wanted Numan to hold back the new release 'Telekon' because they felt that The Pleasure Principle still had a lot of market value in it. I distinctly remember buying Telekon from Sears in October of 1980. I also remember Cars was still getting a lot of airplay in the fall of 1980. That's also radio's fault. Most stations would only play one hit song off of the album. |

This is NOT an Elvis song. This is the late Arthur 'Bigboy' Crudup's song. Elvis covered it. Crudup also did the song Rock Me Mama which is a blues classic. Check him out if you want to hear some classic blues...that's ARTHUR BIGBOY CRUDUP. |

The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored Lyrics
| 17 years ago

This song is self explanatory to me. It's about how the singer doesn't feel the need to sell his soul to the devil because the devil is already in him. The " I wanna be adored" line is his desire to be famous I think. |

Replicas was reissued back in the late 90s with a bunch of b-sides. The story behind the music is also included in the booklet. I sure with VH! would do a Behind The Music featuring Gary Numan. |

Love song...but I'm not sure if it's a person he's referring to or something else. Excellent song...it always reminded me of the Sisters Of Mercy. It was a big 'goth' club hit back in the late 90s. I'm surprised that there aren't at least a few comments here. |

Type O Negative – I Like Goils Lyrics

Any straight guy who's been hit on by a gay guy can appreciate these lyrics. It's happened to me a couple of times, so I can relate. I had to let them know right away, I'm not interested at all.
Goils = Girls. I met a guy from Hoboken, New Jersey who actually spoke like this. He would say 'joik' for jerk, 'toin' for turn and so on. |

John Foxx – Endlessly Lyrics

Dreamy lyrics about a woman the author is in love with. She moves towards him endlessly. But they never actually connect. Maybe he's just dreaming. This song was originally released as a single and is available on the album Modern Art, The Best Of John Foxx. I highly recommend it. |
