Suicidal Tendencies – I Saw Your Mommy... Lyrics | 16 years ago |
these lyrics are not complete whole sections missing more than provided on the album though "i wonder how much you had to pay to get your mom killed in such a bloody way" i believe is one of the other parts |

Jethro Tull – Christmas Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is "Christmas Song," not "Christmas Story." |
The Beatles – Act Naturally (Buck Owens cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
OOPS! John and Paul didn't write this song at all. I've been told Buck Owens recorded it circa 1962. The Beatles version is from 1965. It's credited to Morrison/Russell. But it fits Ringo's persona perfectly. |
The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I was born on June 25, 1967. The same day that this song was performed live and transmitted all over the world to TVs everywhere, in the first international simulcast in history. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and everyone was there. That's what this song means to me. |
The Beatles – For No One Lyrics | 19 years ago |
God, this is depressing. I've transcribed it to guitar, and I sing and play it, with lachrimose results. |
The Beatles – Two of Us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I Dig A Pygmy" by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf-Aids! Phase one in which Doris gets her oats! |
The Beatles – It's All Too Much Lyrics | 19 years ago |
However, the movie version is not longer, excising other portions of the song. As to the meaning of the lyrics themselves, it's simply a love song to his wife Patti Boyd, perhaps misplaced. |
The Beatles – Come and Get It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Paul recorded a demo of this song (see Anthology 3) and gave it to the Apple prodigies Badfinger to record as the theme to "The Magic Christian" starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr. |
The Beatles – In My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I forgot to mention the bizarre drum beats. Ringo is too much maligned. |
The Doors – Back Door Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is an old blues song by Willie Dixon. A back door man helps women cheat on their men, undetected by neighbors who can see the front door. Choice of song may have double meaning. |
The Doors – Five to One Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Five to one" and "one in five" are two contradictory ratios and/or percentages. "No One Here Gets Out Alive" is a biographical book on Jim Morrison, based on the next line of this song. I can't find either of my copies right now, due to the clutter of books, CDs and DVDs piled high between the paths in my house. The book offers several possibilties of statistics contemporary to this song. Can anyone here find their copy? 5:1 is a ratio that would agree with one in six or five in six. 4:1 is a ratio that would agree with one in five. |
Iron Maiden – The Wicker Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The title is obviously inspired by the cult movie The Wicker Man. I say this because that is how Iron Maiden chooses to write their songs. However, this song seems to have little to do with that movie at all. Everyone should see this movie and make up their own mind. About a lot of things. |
Iron Maiden – Back In The Village Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Number Six always ends up Back in the Village, no matter how he tries to escape. One of the best shows ever. |
Iron Maiden – Murders In The Rue Morgue Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Incredible song from their best album! Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story, which is recognized as the first detective story, hence the Edgar Awards for Mystery. It's told from the point of view of the companion of M. Dupin, who used the deductive method of ratiocination to solve seemingly impossible riddles. Obviously the model for Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and his friend Watson. Perhaps even Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. The song has little to do with the actual story, with references to the plight of the accused, but nothing about the OurangOotang, as I believe is the original spelling. |
Iron Maiden – Twilight Zone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Another great Di'Anno song, usually unappreciated by later fans. It shares the same title as many other songs released in the early 80's with the TV show name. It also mentions Purgatory, another song on the same Killers album. |
Iron Maiden – King of Twilight (Nektar cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
If you like this song, seek the original by Nektar, which is far superior, featuring harmony vocals. Of course, Iron Maiden is much better than Nektar, but they obviously were inspired by their music. Nektar only has a handful of good songs, but this is one of the best I've ever heard. |
Deep Purple – Smoke on the Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Strangely enough, this song was written about its own recording. They were making the Machine Head album when their hotel burned down. It was a time when bands wrote and recorded songs simultaneously, with no idea how it would result. |
Led Zeppelin – The Lemon Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is definitely a reworked, renamed "Killing Floor" somehow symbolizing a slaughterhouse sluice. All apologies for the alliteration. |
Led Zeppelin – Trampled Under Foot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song always reminded me of "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers. The lyrics are obviously sexual metaphors in the form of automotive terms. |
Led Zeppelin – No Quarter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
All I know is that whenever it snowed when I was a kid, I'd secretly smoke a joint out my bedroom window with this song soothing my ears. |
Led Zeppelin – D'yer Mak'er Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In response to OceanOfChaos over two years ago, can you imagine the lyrics printed without the Oh's? The first verse would read: You don't have to go You don't have to go Baby please don't go Unfortunately, most of the lyrics in this song are Oh! |
Led Zeppelin – D'yer Mak'er Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I remember people asking me if I liked the song Die-er Maker. I didn't realize at the time it was pronounced Jamaica. And no, this is one of my least favorite Zep songs. But it is intended to sound like Reggae, hence the title, which is based on a very bad joke. |
Yes – Roundabout Lyrics | 19 years ago |
As etherial as these lyrics may seem, I have heard they are very grounded in a mundane reality. It's simply a description of the geography on the road, touring away from loved ones. |
Yes – I've Seen All Good People: Your Move/All Good People Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song contains two quotes from John Lennon songs: 1. "Instant Karma" 2. "All we are saying, is Give Peace a Chance" |
The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The real name of this song is "Paint It, Black" with a comma. |
Billy Joel – Only The Good Die Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The name Virginia is an obvious choice. |
Billy Joel – Only The Good Die Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great double meaning: "You didn't count on me" count on = consider or rely on "When you were counting on your rosary" counting = saying a prayer at each rosary bead |
Pink Floyd – Empty Spaces Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always heard "Congratulations. You have just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to old Pink, care of the funny farm, channel 14." |
Pink Floyd – Empty Spaces Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song appears on the album, but not in the movie. "What Shall We Do Now?" sounds like this song in the beginning, but in a different key, and is in the movie, but not on the album, although the lyrics are included. |
Mercyful Fate – Into The Coven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Mercyful Fate and Metallica are both excellent. Metallica recognizes how great King Diamond is. If you don't respect either of them, then you can keep that to yourself, or continue to hold yourself up to further ridicule. Metallica and Mercyful Fate both were struggling together to gain commercial success while neither would compromise artistic vision. |
The Beatles – Baby You're a Rich Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Baby You're a Rich Fag Jew is a popular misheard lyric. This is most likely a myth. |
The Beatles – Happiness Is a Warm Gun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
John definitely wrote and sang this song and probably played the intricate guitar parts. This song is one of my bizarre favorites. |
The Beatles – Something Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I know that this is mostly about lyrics, but I'd say that the chord structure in this song is the work of an absolute genius. Yet another perfect song. |
The Beatles – Act Naturally (Buck Owens cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great humorous performance by sad sack Ringo. John and Paul probably wrote this expressly for him. |
The Beatles – Why Don't We Do It in the Road? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hey, pkjun! Knew she would! Knew she would! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat! |
The Beatles – Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It is ironic that this song was not banned by the BBC. So many of their other songs were, for the wrong reasons. This song has a prominent joint-toking sound and a background chorus that says, "Tit tit tit tit..." |
The Beatles – Glass Onion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And yes, it IS still funny. |
The Beatles – Glass Onion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yet another song with absolutely no meaning, designed to torment our minds with self-references to the "Paul is dead" myth, invented and perpetuated by the Beatles themselves. |
The Beatles – Michelle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The French passage in the second and subsequent verses is merely a translation of the English passage in the first verse. |
The Beatles – Things We Said Today Lyrics | 19 years ago |
One of my favorites, makes you think of personal relationships. Who doesn't remember things we say? |
The Beatles – Taxman Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Paul played the bizarre guitar solo on this song. The same recording of the solo is repeated at the end. |
The Beatles – Nowhere Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
When I was a kid, I thought this song was about Jeremy the Boob from the "Yellow Submarine" movie. I had no idea the song was years old by the time it inspired that character in the screenplay. |
The Beatles – It's All Too Much Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The version in the movie "Yellow Submarine" has an additional verse not included on the album: "Nice to have the time to take This opportunity Time for me to look at you And you to look at me" |
The Beatles – Doctor Robert Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well well well he'll make you. Great manipulation of words. |
The Beatles – I'm So Tired Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a companion piece to "I'm Only Sleeping" meant to continue the musical diary of John Lennon. His sleep patterns have obviously changed since the earlier entry. |
The Beatles – She Said She Said Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is about a conversation with Peter Fonda tripping on acid at a party. John was rather depressed about what he was hearing and probably said so. "He Said" became "She Said" because it sounds more compelling when sung by a man, suggesting a conversation between possible lovers. "She Said" became "She Said She Said" most likely because of the arrangement of the ending. |
The Beatles – In My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Another perfect song. But the best part is the piano solo by George Martin, truly the fifth Beatle. In the boys' absence, Martin took it upon himself to slow down the empty solo sequence to half speed and record a piano track. Upon restoring the tape to normal speed, the piano sounded almost like a harpsichord, matching the nostalgic mood of this piece. The returning Beatles loved the sound of it, and another chapter of musical history was written. |
The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is simply another perfect song by the Beatles. Every word is perfect. Every note is perfect. And the ending, combining the two vocal themes on top of each other, is the perfect icing on the perfect cake. |
