Boy Meets Girl – Waiting For A Star To Fall Lyrics 19 years ago
While I fully realize that the lyrics are overly sentimental and cliche to the point of absurdity, I just can't help myself...I love this song. The trumpets in the finale at the end are great, and though the meaning is lacking the tune and overall mood of the piece always seem to have me singing (ashamedly) along...

Paul Simon – Under African Skies Lyrics 19 years ago
his entire 'Graceland' album holds a special place in my heart as I was actually born in Africa (and hence, under African skies!) ... the melodies and background vocals in this song are musically some of the finest ever produced; and though I'm Canadian I can't help but feel a stirring in my blood whenever i hear the drums and beats of my "home"

Scorpions – Wind Of Change Lyrics 19 years ago
Hey Simonlee ... I think you're a little confused there buddy(unless you're being facetious on purpose). In the context of the song, I'm pretty sure the moskva is not a nazi night club, its simply a transliteration of the russian word Moscow, and is the name of a large river which runs through the former Soviet capital. Gorky Park, again, is a famous landmark in Moscow, as it is the main amusement park for the city, and is situated along the Moskva river. The Scorpions simply wish to portray the changing of times surrounding the fall of the Iron Curtain, as one meandering down by the Moskva towards Groky Park would be able to hear the sounds of people and amusement-park activities going on; the "wind of change" spreading the newfound feelings of freedom to those who previously may not have been able to enjoy the simple pleasures of playing games or riding a ferris wheel.

Custom – Hey Mister Lyrics 19 years ago
This shit is so funny ... if you haven't BEEN the guy in the song, then you sure as hell have a buddy who has. And I'm sure Murphy's Law will come back to bite all these these type of guys in the ass ... they'll ALL end up having beautiful teenage daughters and go through all the same shit this girl's dad had to!

Ashlee Simpson – Shadow Lyrics 19 years ago
Boo hoo ... poor spolied rich girl who has SUCH a hard life living in the shadow of her sisters fame. Let's all feel deep sympathy for the toils and turmoils she has had to endure. We should boycott radio stations who play anything by this talent-less hack.

Lagwagon – Train Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree ... the lyricist seems to have a lot of respect for the individual who's now the "scraps they've left behind" ... probably this person was once a source of inspiration or creativity for the other band members, but was sucked dry and left blowing in the breeze while the rest of them "jumped a train" to fame and success. It sounds to me almost like an apology to an old friend/band member; who is envious of how well the rest of them have done. The writer has had some time reflect on how this guy was treated ("distance between has given hind sight"), and he's realized this guy has been left in the gutter while "I'm on a train" to the good life

Better Than Ezra – Under You Lyrics 19 years ago
... this song is as elegant as it is moving. I don't get any "death" overtones here, he seems simply to be inundated by the feeling of "seeing" someone you truly care about everywhere, even if they're not there in the physical sense. This girl must have been an actress-wannabe, as they all tend to be drawn toward the hope and possibilities behind the neon lights of hollywood. It takes on a very "personal" feeling ... like I'm listening to a private conversation that I shouldnt be ... and seems to give me a little lump in my throat whenever I hear it

Better Than Ezra – Good Lyrics 19 years ago
This is my "packing" anthem ... when I'm about to take my leave from a place I've grown close to (ie. university dorm), this song seems to find a niche with me. The meaning itself is not difficult to comprehend ... a roomate/significant other has left, and he's taking stock of the physical/emotional void thats left, he's "just to frightened by the sound of it"... 'it' being the lack of the life and presence of the person who was once there. The second verse is him making those pseudo-plans we all do when we're about to leave ("we'll get together sometime for sure) and want to emtionally detach from the fact that we'll never see someone again. In the end, all that can be said is that it was "good"... which definitely has fesitious overtones considering how much of your life and yourself you share with those who you live with. In essence, a tribute to roomates and others you share your life with. One of my favorite songs, the chorus is too damn catchy!!!
