School of Seven Bells – Windstorm Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song is about the pressures society puts on women and the struggle to reject those expectations. Trying to act lady like and mild mannered ect. When she sings "spin my weight around begin the windstorm" she is obviously rejecting those lady like behavoirs and turning around and farting on somebody she doesn't like.

I don't think this is the weakest song on the album. I think its the most original from the rest, actually. It's unlike the other tracks on the CD in its construction and lyrcis (the music is A Sort of Homecoming slowed down and played backwards) and there are no lyrics (Bono is addlibbing), at first this was my least favorite on the album as well. But new music requires new ways of listening to it. You can't approach listening to this song the same way you do the rest of the album. Its total mood. Play it on a chilly, drizzling, overcast morning.

I love the atmosphere in this song. Its a story all to itself. Whenever I play this cd and it gets to this song I play about 3 more times before moving on.

U2 – Deep In The Heart Lyrics 19 years ago
Next to Elvis Presley and America... this is one of my fav u2 songs.. and one of the best 'B' side track on the Joshua Tree single.

The music is so... I can't describe.. its feels very spacious and almost spontaneous. Edges guitar solo also carries that signature 'edge' sound.

Apparently, the song is about Bono remembering a sexual encounter he had in his fathers house when he was a kid.. Bono remembering this as he was walking through the house one last time (it was being sold).

I really like this song...

"We run like a river to the sea"

A metaphor for all the living (river) and how we have an appointment with death like all humankind before us (the sea).

It doesn't get much more poetic than that.

U2 – Elvis Presley And America Lyrics 19 years ago
This has been one of my fav u2 songs of all time.

From what I can recall... the reason the lyrics are hard to understand is there are no lyrics for this song. Apparently Bono was singing lyrics off the top of his head (or from partially completed lyrics) while facing a large painting of Elvis.

u2 did not like this song but Brian Eno urged the fellows to put it on the album arguing that the song captured a great mood.

This song is perfect to play on a cold, grey, rainy day.
