Hey Red army. Oasis is a good band, well, actually they were pretty great, but you have to admit they are losing their touch, and the same goes with Radiohead. It is the same with all bands. They do leave a legacy that is something grand, but evantually the song machine starts to get rusty. Now that I am older they just don't have the same effect. Oasis and Radiohead were just my baptism into the world of good music, but since then I have found way better artists. Now when I listen to radiohead it sounds like some different mutation of teenage angst, I guess you could say it is the "more" intelligent teenage angst, but what's the point because your just post another message that says Oasis and Radiohead are great without even letting anything I have said soak in. |

He did good job on this. It's a very cute little song with very easy chords that have been used a million times by other artist in the same progression( G - G/F# - Em), but it doesn't matter how difficult the chords are and all that bullshit.
The lyrics are corny and very nice at the same time.
At first I was expecting him to sound like Lennon, but his voice is so good on this track. He sounds like Richard Ashcroft to me on this tune. His voice is very clear and less scratching. He is actually singing really well. He hasn't sounded this good since the first album. |

I am liking Liam's songs, but we all know he is a Beatles freak, or actually a Lennon freak. He likes to sound like the Beatles. I was annoyed how he seams to steal little tid-bits of Lennon's lyrics, but he did pick the right man to steal from, one of the best song writers ever. Liam knows that we know he is trying to sound like the Beatles. So who cares and let him write how ever he wants. His tunes are not that bad at all.
As for Noel. I must say the "chief" is losing his touch, but he has proved himself with millions of albums sold, so who gives a shit. You can't expect artist to write brilliant songs for the rest of their lives.
I still like Oasis and will buy their albums even the critics say they suck. |

Fuck ya! dave 1987, your awesome! That line is so great! and I don't even know why. It just rings so well with music and the way he sings it. Alot of Oasis songs don't really have a deep meaning. Come on now! They are just some lads from Manchester. I doubt they give two shits about deep meanings in songs. Usually Noel is playing with words. |

I got to say is that "when you whispered in my ear, and asked me if I was leavin' with you or her. I didn't realize just what I did hear. I didn't realize how young you were." is such a fantastic line. It really clicks with me and I love it......and in the liner notes you see a photo of a girl whispering in Bob's ear. |

I heard the song was about a haunted house Thom was staying in, but with Thom you never know what it could be. Anywho.....I love the chords. They are so very simple (A - C#m) and so haunting. Kid A is just so interesting to listen to, because it sounds like it was fookin' recorded on Mars. Just when you thought every experimental idea in music has been done, Radiohead then comes along and makes something so original. Now all they need to do is record an album in Area 51. |

Ereinion is totally right. Lennon himself has said the song is meaningless. These artists get off so much on us people analysing their songs. We look like fools to them, and they are just laughing at us as we try and discover hidden meanings to their tunes.
Lennon probably did not write this when on one of his "trips", cause you cannot write good songs when your high. He was probably sober and just reflecting on a trip he had. He was probably laughing his head off when writing the lyrics as well. If your a musician or songwriter you already know that not everything you write has a meaning to it. Some songs you just right for fun, and to be odd. So people get this stright! Not every damn song The Beatles write has some hidden meaning. |

Well, I don't really feel like discussing the meaning, but I think it is a just a grand song. At first I found it quite corny and odd for Noel Gallagher to write a song like this but it has grown on me. I think it is a just a very cute love song. My two fav parts are when he sings "I don't sream out load and wake up on my own".......and "your singing shangri la". The back up vocals come in and it sounds so tender with lot's of love. That part get's me. Should have been on an album, but they probably left it off because, come on! it's Oasis. They have to still live up to the bad boy image of not caring about love, and being all tough. |

You know, JumpyJack is right in a way. Alot of Noel Gallgher's songs are quite meaningless, but for some reason I really like Oasis. I just think he is a songwriter who doesn't have much to say, but really likes to write songs, so he just pulls stuff out of his ass. You can't blame him.
As for this song.....there are many good lines but they are not tied together to make any sense, but who cares because there is no rule saying songs have to be about something all the time. So just sit back, get stoned, relax, and listen. |

Not many people have alot to say about the song meaning. We all know the song is good, so stop going on about how good it is.
Well, in this song he talking to alot of people. He is basically saying, what is wrong with you all? what happened to love? who "bought and sold" you?
He is telling everyone to open they're fookin' eyes. He almost downgrades himself as well. He talking about very deep things then simply says "while my guitar gently weepes", as saying....."I'm just sitting here watching all you shit heads, but I'm just a musician, and can only tell you with a guitar and song". So hopefully you all know what I mean. If I made my interpretation of the song meaning clear enough.
So start writting, and give me something to argue with....hehee. |

I can never get over this song. Why? Because it is a total love song that does not even mention the word love. It's not sappy at all like most love songs. The imagry he use's just set's my nerves on fire. LIke think about it......what a way to praise a woman. Smashing! Perfect! Alot of people say the song is too long, but they are all wrong. The time is perfect. YOu need more than 3- 4minutes to describe your lover in a song. YOu need around 11 minutes...hehehe. When I get high I could just listen to this song over and over again....hehehe. |

I agree with Itsakyle. His lyrics are far from the best ever, cause we all know that Bob Dylan is the best living user of the english language in songwriting, but that's beside the point. I think Badly Drawn Boy is one of the best going artist out there right now, but I find his lyrics are lazy at times. It's almost as if he just throws words in to finish a song quickly before going into the studio, but that's how it sounds to me. "Have you fed the fish" is a really great album mostly because the muzak...hehehe, but the lyrics are so very dull. He only manages to hold my attention on them because they are tied to such beautiful melodies.
Now everyone sit and think then type something up to argue with me...hahaha. |
