ok Orion their are a few mistakes with ur statements that id like to adress. firstly do not criticize Morrissey's english skills or education for that matter. He has never made a grammatical mistake in any of his lyrics, quite the contrary actually the line "I just wish you'd stay where you is " seems like it doesnt make sense, but it is actually proper english... if u look at any english songs u will notice that it has always been done in an odd way like that... if u dont believe me look at 1800th century church hymns. You are saying that it is wrong for him to say "America" instead of USA or united states of America, but doesnt ur country constantly say "God Bless America" duhh, obviously America is a common name assosciated to the USA. This may be purely speculation but i guarantee if u ran a Black or gay candidate for president u would lose quite a substantial amount of votes. It would be political suicide for a party to do such a thing, and that is why it is not even considered. Most of us find it quite disturbing that so many american citizens are so shallow, dont you? And don;t say i have no evidence, i wish a gay representative would run for the republicans tomorrow, hed received less than 30% of the popular vote i guarantee it. I wont even touch on your 'Macarthy'esque anti communist comments. i am not a communist and im not sure if morrissey is. But one thing for certain is that he opposes greed, and the selfishness involved in it. i think uve all had great ideas, but i think i have a the best interpretation. First and foremost, i dont care how religious anyone can be, but their is nothing worth dieing for. Once u are dead its as if u never existed in the first place. So take advantage of your random existence. The Martyr in this song is Jesus, but maynard does this song in a clever way so that at first he may be speaking of any martyr even a terrorist who blows himself up for his faith. until he mentions the cross this could be any religious psycho's eulogy. so then what is it that all martyrs have in common? they are destroying themselves for a belief, not knowledge, meaning it is illogical. Atheists such as myself see this as the absolute stupid. The most extreme thing anyone can do since life is a precious bundle of random science, why would any man (terrorist/Jesus) kill themself for something so meaningless in the first place. What you must realize, is that maynard is proving that if a Historical Jesus did actually exist, he must have been Insane enough to actually convince himself that he was some sort devine being. If jesus wasnt crazy and was faking his divinity then he wouldnt have allowed himself to die like that. In other words, jesus is just as insane as a suicide bomber, thinking that he was doing something godly. |

This song is amazing, you can learn so much more from it, by noticing how it was created differently the depeche mode version. If you compare the feels of both songs. ull notice that maynard is making somewhat of a mockery of Gore's lyrics. When Al gore sings the song he leaves it with a sad whiny feal, as if it pains him that ppl hurt him etc... like the little homo he was.., As maynard sings the same words, he changes the fealing into a tone which somewhat Mocks Gore's intentions. As if to say that it is Naive to think that humans can go without violence. it focuses around a realistic concept. That human nature can never be fixed and that violence is there to stay. |

Radiohead is also known for giving tribute to its influences, for instance, knives out is a tribute to the Smiths, so i wouldnt be surprised if they honored another Manchester Rock Band, Damn does that city rock or what. But one thing for sure, is that radiohead has not attempted the Squire like guitar stylings of Fools Gold, which in my opinion make this song one of the funkiest of all time. Squire has some amazin guitar on this track, too bad its produced so that u can barely hear it, this song could be done so much better with a focus on the guitars. anyways, the song is just Ian Brown's true self without the Cocky self indulgent Bs that he usually sang about, its his way of showing that hes more insecure then he'd leave you to believe from his "i am the resurection" and other self promoting songs. it sort of reminds me of the weakness and need for love that the Smiths express in "How Soon is Now" the line "I wanna be adored" links to "I am human and i need to be loved" in my opinion it may very well be a tribute to the influence the smiths had on them. |
