HA-I TOLD YOU-People are so silly, they think since they can play a song & sing it "almost Perfectly" their own interpretation has got to be right- Well, I can play the simple guitar song too & I can sing it half ass-so take that- 6 years later I Win! |

This is an all time classic in my mind. I don't know if this song was a hit back in the day but what a wonderful song about dying love. Listen to it let it take you away. I'm not kidding! |

Mazzy Star – Flowers in December Lyrics

This song has always been my second fav song behind Look on Down. so sweet & melancholy. I used to crank this up & dance around the room with my baby boy when he was like 4 months old. It's embedded into his personality. |

LOL-That is Funny jazzy88, I've done the same thing before-it's even funnier knowing the dates are way apart. But, at least you weren't disagreeing with yourself. But yeah this song as well as the whole album is incredible & almost unherad of. When this album first came out I rushed out to get it-too bad it was the last from these guys. |

Elliott Smith – Whatever (Folk Song in C) Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
Of course this song was about dope. It was during his classic doping period as well- "just came to use", "if your all done"-DOPE!, also the chorus should say "I HAVEN'T wanted to do anything for a long time-DOPE! People can interpret his songs however they choose but this song was blatantly obvious if you've experienced the highs and lows of the drug life. |

This was the song that got my hooked on Erics Trip, back in 1996. It must be about getting stoned, one way or another. All acoustic- which is their best material IMO. Their electric stuff wasn't my cup of tea. |

Pearl Jam – Yellow Ledbetter Lyrics

I've never been a pearl jam fan, & in fact I thought most of their 90's hits were annoying to hear over & over again. This song is the exception- This song is one of those rare beauties that actually give me chills. I especially like the lines "Yeah, can you see them on the porch- Yeah, but they don't wave--I see them around the front way yeah, & I know & I know, I don't wanna stay". This song has made a fan out of me, I'lll admit it. I've hear some of their newer more acoustic albums & I much prefer them over the older harder stuff. |

John Lennon – Whatever Gets You Thru the Night Lyrics

Elton John & Lennon were good friends, they co-wrote this song. In 1974, after they recorded it, Elton wagered with Lennon that if the song made it to #1, Lennon would have to appear on stage with him. Lennon accepted convinced that the song would not do that well. When the song reached #1, Lennon made good on his promise by appearing on stage with Elton John at Madison Square Garden in New York. It would be Lennon's final concert appearance. Also look for the song "Empty Garden" by Elton John. It's a tearjerking tribute written for Lennon after he passed. |

HaiZuKi is exactly right-It was about people trying to motivate him to re-enter the music business when he was perfectly content just staying at home raising his son. |

Chris Isaak – Forever Blue Lyrics

One of my all time favorites. If you like sad albums then you must buy this one for sure. It was written after the breakup of him & his girlfriend. None of his other albums compare to this one, which Makes me wish he would have had at least one more drastic breakup so as to serve my needs. |

Elliott Smith – Needle in the Hay Lyrics

This song was about Elliott's stepdad in texas-or at least alot of it was. The getting good marks means nothing more than getting good grades-Elliott had mentioned in the past the references to his stepdad who he despised. Now whether the entire song was about him I'm not sure. |

Lou Reed – The Kids Lyrics

|
My favorite Lou Reed album. One of his best songs-just heartbreaking- the chorus & the way he sings it is just amazing. The screaming kids adds to the effect dramatically. Not for the faint of heart or those who don't like the sound of screaming children. I've pissed off quite a few people having this song full blast out of the speakers. |

Elliott Smith – Somebody That I Used to Know Lyrics

Exactly briar. What makes this song so phenomenal to me is his guitar playing. I find it a shame that a guy like Elliott will never get the credit he is due for his skills at plucking those strings as well as his tunings & chord changes-all because he's not top 40.
As for his lyrics-well as far as I'm concerned he's second to no one. |

The Moody Blues – My Song Lyrics
|
I'm amazed no one has ever posted on this song. The feeling you get out of this as well as certain other Moody Blues songs is why so many people back in the late 60's & early 70's thought they had the answers. Mike Pinder's songs are so sentimental & self realizing it seems he actually did have the answers. |

Hayden – I Should Have Been Watching You Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard-gives me chills & not many songs do that. My take on this song has always been the viewpoint of a dad in retrospect watching his child frolic through the field, & as he's watching he slips into a daydream losing his attention for a moment & then his child is gone. Maybe this is a stretch but it's what makes the song so sweet to me. It can be interpreted in only as many ways as ones imagination can come up with. |
