Sarah Brightman – Winter in July Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a beautiful under appreciated song. Its sound is not typical of Sarah Brightman's work. It is not an opera or classical song. It is instead a pop song, with a good consistent beat. For whatever reason, I seem to listen to this song only in summer or winter! I first heard this song in Feb, 2003. If there is any song that comes close to what my conception of life is it is this song. This song does not contain my philosphy of life, but it comes close. Every word of this song could be mine. The point of tgis song is although we may not understand life and although it is never happy for long, we should try to make the best of what we have, although it might not be much. Some it seems are given everything they want. Others have only have ever known a lonely heart and troubled mind. It seems to them that life is dark and bleak, and that the only escape is either death or if they have had past happiness, to live in that. That you should not live in the past is a generally accepted saying. In some ways, its been the theme of my life. This song says that'' future dreams canl never last/ when you find yourself still living in the past''. When you live in the past, you find yourself stagnant forever the same, emotionally. If you want to preserve a experience living in the past seems a good option. You can have your lost happiness even if everything else is gone. I think people shoudld be given time. Eventually everyone will let go of the past, for the most part. I don't think I ever will, because I know I've had my happiness. But otherwise, you shoudn't live in the past. I love love this song. It is tragic, optimistic, and meaningful. That's what life is.

Hole – Playing Your Song Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a wonderful song, brimming over with bitterness. The meaning I find in it is probably not the meaning most people would, however. I like the anger and strength of this song, along withthe cynicism. I think the song is about appreciation after the fact. When someone is gone and dead, the people who in their lifetime were treated badly are now idolised with false admiration. Yes, they are playing your song but what did they do to you?-''they sold you out''. Of course, you rarely can appreciate something until it is gone. Then you idealise it and call it better than it was, though of course it iprobably was better than whatever you have right now. This song has echoes of Kurt Cobain's life.

Switchfoot – This Is Your Life Lyrics 19 years ago
IThis is a nice meangful song. It is melancholy-but upbeat too. This song asks you if you are happy with your life right now, is it everything you thought it would be? Has life lived up to your expectations or let you down? This song points ou that whatever you have today good or bad, it's all you have. You cannot have the future before it comes. You can live in the past if you want to, but you cannot have the past either. The past as this song says is dead and over. Some people think there is something wrong with living in the past. True, it's not a good thing to do, but sometimes it's your only relief when all you have is an emptiness because of things you have lost. I think you ought to live in the past sometimes and I think you should cherish and remember the past always. I have lived in the past before and will again. It is very comforting, although it is a dead end. I first heard this song on a snowy winter day against the background of snowy farm fields and huge cemtery. Not quite the atomsphere to cheer you up.This song is really haunting.

Lifehouse – Just Another Name Lyrics 19 years ago
I like this song. It is in terms of subject matter my favorite Lifehouse song. It is about how if you're there that's fine-if not, fine too. It is about how sometimes you feel worthless to others. As long as you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, no one cares. You don't matter, or have an identity and you aren't important. That is how this song could realate to anyone. Most specifically, however, this song is about a young girl who loses her identity in Hollywood. She is just another star, just another sexy figure and beautiful face.
It is about how famous people loose their identity. They're just known for being a name. Whenever I hear this song I think of Marilyn Monroe. She was a famous woman who lost her identity in Hollywood. She is probably the icon of making yourself over and loosing your real name, identity, and any ties to a former life iin the glitz and glamour of fame. Though this song is not about Marilyn Monroe, it could be.

Hole – Reasons to Be Beautiful Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a nice violent grunge song. Courtney Love screams all the way through it. It is one of the harder rock songs on Celebrity Skin. It doesn't have much melody, so it's not one of my favorite songs. But I do like the pure anger and sadness of her voice singing about love, death, suicide. She puns on her name at the begining of this song. This song is probably written to Kurt Cobain as are some other of Courtney's songs. It describes a lover that she would do anthing to save but can't. This song has lovely images in it. The most signifigant part of this song is the part where she replies to Kurt Cobain's suicide note where he wrote ''It is better to burn out than to fade away'' quoting someone. She writes ''When the fire goes out you better learn to fake/It's better to rise than fade away''. That contradicts the begining where she says she cannot find 10 good reasons to stay alive.By the end of the song the speaker realizes it is better to survive.

Hole – Heaven Tonight Lyrics 19 years ago
This is about love and how you will go to heaven tonight metaphorically speaking just enjoying love. It is about fresh, innocent, wild love. This one of the most cheerful Hole songs, threre is no theme of death mixed in with that of love. This a very pop Hole song, with barely any rock or grunge in it. My favorite line of this song is ''Summer will come again, I can be happy''. It is winter, either real Winter or just a winter of the mind. This love with make that summer be happy, or perhaps will even make that summer happen. This song reminds me of a November night when I believed that ''Summer will come again, I can be happy''. That November night had nothing to do with love, it was just that I was really cheered up by someone from the depths of depression. It is amazing what kind words can do. The abandon of young love fills this song. My brother who hates Hole likes this song. Thiat says a lot for the appeal of this song.

Hole – Use Once And Destroy Lyrics 19 years ago
The lyrics of this song are beautiful, some of the best Courtney's ever written. This a very grunge song, with a sound heavier than most of the others on Celebrity Skin. This song sounds like old school Hole. The theme of this song is most likely drugs, but it could also be about being used in a relationship. Of course, it has some references to Kurt Cobain for those that seek them. The themes of addiction, love, and drug use are very Kurt Cobain, but they are also very Courtney Love. This is a song typical of Courtney's life. It just sounds like her. The Lyrics of this song are so gorgeous.I love singing along with the song, just because I love the lyrics. Only Courtney could come up with a song that ombines the themes of drug use and being used with that of love. Nice Nice song!

Hole – Northern Star Lyrics 19 years ago
This is wonderful, austere song, where you can just hear Courtney's voice against a simple musical background. Some people don't like the howling on this song, but I think it is beautiful. Listening to this song you can just feel Courtney Love's pain and also, if you have any, your own. This song combines a mood of sadness ''cherish my misery alone'', with a power that you can feel in Courtney's voice. This is a good song to listen to if you are in a mood of despair, hurt, loss the kind she mentions in the song. You can scream out your pain, and perhaps anger with her. This song is proabably about Kurt Cobain. My favorite memory of llistening to this song is from Dec '03, on a cold winter evening. It was cold and I was in a mood of sadness, and perhaps anger, over something that had happened a while before, but which still hurt me. So I just sang alone with Courtney, screaming out my own pain. This song is good for that kind of mood.

Hole – Celebrity Skin Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a classic Hollywood song. It is about Hollywood wannabes who have been everything in their quest for stardom. It is about starlets who just can't quite become stars. This song questions whether they will like it if they do become stars. But this song says that it is better to be a star than a faded wannabee, because the picture this song gives of a faded wannabee isn't a good one.Courtney Love as done other songs with themes like this, especially on her new record. This a great song that has good music and a well handled theme.
