R.E.M. – Me In Honey Lyrics
|
"A fly in the honey" is the perfect metaphor for an unwanted pregnancy. The fly doesn't want to be there; the honey doesn't want the fly there. Yet the fly is compelled to find its way into the honey and become trapped, damaging both the fly and the honey.
The girl doesn't want to be with him. He feels like she's taking a part of him away. "That's a part of me." |

Bob Dylan – Isis Lyrics

To summarize this song: Some guy is offered money to kill Dylan.
He said "There's a body I'm trying to find
If I carry it out it'll bring a good prize"
It was then that I knew what he had on his mind.
He proposes that they rob a tomb, they get there, Dylan realizes the guy wants to kill him. So, he kills the guy and leaves him in the empty casket. |

Now Scott with the sling-shot finially found a tender spot
and throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-menot whispers daddy's within earshot save the buckshot turn up the band
those are the lyrics toastah missed
It's a new grown chaperon standing in the corner
watching the young girls dance
and some fresh sown moonstone messing with his frozen zone,
only reminding him of romance
moonstone = coke, this guy is not coming down off anything he's on it which is "messing with his frozen zone" which sounds like hes an older guy...haha. new grown chaperon = now getting too old to be there. |

Pink Floyd – Hey You Lyrics

blingincracker, "The Wall" probably is a hair on the overrated side, and I can see where you are coming from. "The Wall" is easily Pink Floyd's most depressing album, and it does get a little tired after a while. But Pink Floyd's entire career will easily out do anything a modern rock band could ever accomplish. Check their earlier work from the 70s.
Also does anyone else hear how the instruments between 2:05 and 2:35 seem to say "we don't need no education"? |

This song was originally was a much different instrumental used to link "breathe" and "time". It still serves the same purpose. It's about the transition portion of one's life. It links "breathe" (childhood) to "time" (adulthood).
That's my take on it anyway. |

Pink Floyd – Money Lyrics

hometown boys, to answer your question the mutterings are reponses of various people gave when asked about the last time they used physical violence.
"HuHuh! I was in the right!"
"Yes, absolutely in the right!"
"I certainly was in the right!"
"You was definitely in the right. That geezer was cruising for abruising!"
"Yeah!"
"Why does anyone do anything?"
"I don't know, I was really drunk at the time!"
"I was just telling him, he couldn't get into number 2. He was asking
why he wasn't coming up on freely, after I was yelling and
screaming and telling him why he wasn't coming up on freely.
It came as a heavy blow, but we sorted the matter out" |

Pink Floyd – Eclipse Lyrics
|
As much as I hate to sound like Nick Burns (your company's computer guy), and not that i matters, but a lunar eclipse is actually when the earth eclipses the moon (this occurs at night). The eclipse you described is called a solar eclipse (this occurs during the day). The moon's angular size is significantly smaller than the sun's, from the earth, so the moon can never complety eclipse the sun. Looking directly at a solar eclipse is not a good idea. All you see is the sun with a small black circle over it which is of course the moon. For some reason you're not supposed to look directly at the sun. If you were to look you would not be looking at the dark side of the moon, you'd be looking at the same side of the moon that you always see. Only now it's complety dark as it is once every 30 days of so. The moon is never light as a result of light reflecting from the earth. Half the moon is always light as a result of the sun, this half changes as the moon's position changes relative to the sun. The reason the moon has phases is a certain portion of the light half of the moon is visible from earth. As stated in my earlier post, what we refer to as the dark side of the moon (the side we never see), get as much light as the side we see. We never see it because its always facing away from the earth, not because it doesn't get light. Hope this clarifies the astromony :)
Now that I'm done boring the hell out of everyone, I would say that DSOTM has nothing to do with insanity. Waters is simply using sarcasm. He's insulting the idea of people being considered "luney" for not following all of society's conventions. The moon represents common sense and basic instincts that all of us have, and the sun is what we have been trained to do and how we have been trained to act. Everything will be in "tune" when you listen to your basic instincts, as opposed to the conventions you've been taught. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the lyric: Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun. But Mama that's where the fun is. Around the 4:30 mark of this song?
I'd say it's about drugs, based on the lyrics "Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun. But Mama that's where the fun is." The fun would be in doing something dangerous, that you're not supposed to do. Example LSD or coke. |

kristina009, I just don't like this song, sorry that's all there is to it, it doesn't mean its a bad song. I have practically ever floyd album, and do know my pink floyd. If that bugs you, then i really don't know what to say.
I would guess that songs most songs off of "The Division Bell" or "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" only made "Echoes" for the purpose of marketing. Those are by far the worst two albums floyd albums, and they both have more than their fair share of songs on "Echoes". Also keep in mind that Waters had nothing to do with "Echoes", they're still a band without him, but not the same band. |
