Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill Lyrics 14 years ago
The line after 'what about them, I'm all about them' is clearly 'six sets straight, ace' as in tennis.

Cursive – From the Hips Lyrics 15 years ago
It seems pretty straight-forward... sometimes you hook up with someone and wind up fuckbuddies and things turn into a mess when you try to take it seriously.

The Mountain Goats – In the Craters of the Moon Lyrics 15 years ago
In March in New York, Darnielle told a story that, to paraphrase, "sometimes you just don't want to leave the house for days... and your friends come over and say they brought groceries. Don't let them in! It's a trick! They're not really your friend. When you lock yourself in your house and all you need is daytime TV, and a pencil, to keep track of the days that you've been locked in the house. This song was written, with that pencil."

Adele – Chasing Pavements Lyrics 15 years ago
it's pretty obvious that it's about how she wants to give out rimjobs but people are skeptical to the idea

The Replacements – Kiss Me On The Bus Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's a more subtle tongue-in-cheek expression of the Peter Pan syndrome that is so prevalent in other 'Mats songs; it's about the kind of things that seem sooo important when you're 13 years old.

The Replacements – Can't Hardly Wait Lyrics 17 years ago
I originally thought it was about suicide, or the acceptance of death.

However, it seems like the film named after the song takes a broader interpretation: acceptance of leaving something behind or a readiness to move forward.

I think I prefer that, because there is a paradoxical sense of optimism shining through.

Pearl Jam – I Am a Patriot Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is in response to those who say "well if you don't like it then get out!" It means, this is my country, too, and I have every right to be here, don't tell me to shut up or leave.

BTW, written by Steven Van Zandt.

Bruce Springsteen – Born in the U.S.A. Lyrics 20 years ago
This wasn't meant to be his experience. It's about what the soldiers came back to experience. They were Americans, they fought for their country like they were made to. Returning to America, the soldiers were spat upon and hated for doing what they were forced to do. Look where they've gotten, is what he's saying. Today, one-third of the homeless are Vietnam vets. Bruce is asking, what are you doing for us; where is the heroes' treatment?

Iron Butterfly – In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida Lyrics 20 years ago
As the story goes, Doug Ingle was under the influence of several substances when he wrote the music. When asked what it should be called, he slurred "In The Garden of Eden" and someone else wrote it down as they heard it.
The real meaning in the song's name goes beyond that; they obviously could've changed it. Eve was supposed to be the perfect woman and lived in the most sacred place: the Garden of Eden. "In-a-gadda-da-vida" replaces "In the Garden of Eden for a reason; it's about being with the most beautiful woman without morality getting in the way of things. In short: Sex.
It's one of the top 10 songs of all-time.
