From Autumn to Ashes – Streamline Lyrics | 18 years ago |
What a beautiful fucking song! I think it's sort along the lines of meeting someone new and being totally blown away by them, but without that person realising. And you just create this fantasy of what could happen, and what you would do. Something along those lines... But dammit, I love this song. Fran Mark has got such a great voice! |
InMe – Chamber Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No comments on this song? Fuckin' ellllllll...This song is just so fucking beautiful, although quite tragic. I get the feeling someone close to him has died, and he still feels he loves this person, but because theyre no longer alive, he can't be, so he's "fooling himself" I don't know...But man, this song hits all the right buttons for me! |
Funeral for a Friend – Recovery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Matts not even sure what this song is about himself, he said there were original lyrics written for the song in weird periods when he was "totally fucking drunk". But he re-wrote the lyrics, in total train of thought style, and it came out like it has. |
Funeral for a Friend – Monsters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is going to be the next single released from "Hours" |
Funeral for a Friend – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yes, I understand that and I'm not disputing it. At the time I posted the Lyrics though I did not have the album right in front of me, so I referred to Kerrang! |
InMe – 7 Weeks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, I think it's about the difficulty of seperation which doesn't need much working out lol Maybe he's like struggling to let go, or he's having difficulties breaking up with her, hence being the thorn in his side I love this song, really catchy, and Dave's guitar work just gets better and better! |
Funeral for a Friend – Roses for the Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Thought they might be. Some of the live version lyrics sound slightly different to the album version, just changed it, thanks man! |
Funeral for a Friend – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Just like on Monsters/Monsters Ball, it was listed in Kerrang as "Drive On" in the album run down with the band.... You're probably right on the lyrics thing though, changed! |
Funeral for a Friend – Monsters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In Kerrang it was noted as "Monsters Ball" when they had a run through of the songs with the band. |
Funeral for a Friend – All The Rage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The beauty of music though, is although a band can write a song relating to one particular thing, people can relate to lines and a song in general in so many different ways |
Funeral for a Friend – Roses for the Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Matts screams at the end are great, he's got such a versatile voice. One of my favourites off the album by far |
Funeral for a Friend – History Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The album has got everything, and considering the 2nd is always the hardest they've done a brilliant job. This is about Matts heavy drinking of the past and some tough times, it's supposed to be "An old Welsh drinking song"...It also touches on the Media cover the band has got at times before too... "Raise your fingers for one last salute" - Brilliant! |
Funeral for a Friend – Hospitality Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's about Matts time in hospital from working so hard, and his recovery and how he realised what he was doing with his life, and he felt that he was letting some of the other band down, but it was from situations that were out of his hands. I agree with you Zedzed, they've changed their style quite a bit, but they've still got the old FFAF traits in their music. They've matured, and I think they've gone onto another level |
Funeral for a Friend – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
All bands move on, if they brought out another carbon copy of 'Casually...' then everyone would have criticised them. I love the new stuff as much as the original stuff...It took a while, but it's really grown on me |
Funeral for a Friend – The End of Nothing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well spotted man, changed it. You can get this song on a free download off the FFAF site for anyone insterested http://www.funeralforafriendmusic.com/audio/ffaf_end_of_nothing.php |
Emanuel – Make Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Totally addicted to this song, bought the album today and there's not a bad song on it...Although this is my favourite. Reminds me of being totally infatuated and hooked on a girl as well; "she puts her lips to a bottle of cola. i watch the kiss and it turns me on". The detail yet simplicity of the words is great... This song is damn horney! Can't wait to see them at Leeds Festival! |
Eighteen Visions – I Should Tell You... Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Fooking love this song It kind of makes me think of being near to a really close friend, they've gone through a bit of a rought time, and they've kinda fell back onto each other, even though the circumstances means that nothing can really happen in the long term between them both, even though he maybe kinda feels more than her. And maybe he should tell her, but he can't, because they've been through so much together in the past as friends. And the 'Don't let her down' maybe like a kind of future gesture to whoever picks her up next. Thats how I percieve the song anyway, Obession is a brilliant album, just like Vanity |
Funeral for a Friend – Streetcar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Matt Davies was saying that for a band that's supposedly 'Emo' that there's very few songs on 'Hours' that's about girls. I've only heard a few of the songs from the new album, it's certainly different, but if they brought out another "Casually dressed..." then they would have only been criticised. I love the new stuff |
Bullet for My Valentine – Curses Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Brilliant! This song show's B4MV slightly more softer and thoughtful side. I think it's about growing up, life, and changing, possibly into something you didn't neccesarily want to change into. Certainly with me leaving school about a year ago, and seeing how yourself and other people change, it's certainly something I can relate to... Got the mini album, just waiting for the full album now They're on the main stage at Leeds as well...Fuck yeah, can't wait!! |
Funeral for a Friend – This Letter (Acoustic) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is by no means as good as the acoustic version of Juneau, I really like the lyrics though, and Matts voice is just folking amazing |
Athlete – Yesterday Threw Everything At Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Best song on the album!! |
Funeral for a Friend – Roses for the Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is is about the death of close friends. In the Kerrang mag Matt says how he saw everyone else grieving but he felt weird because he wasn't crying and he just took everything in. He payed to tribute to those people with this song It's one of my favourite ever FFAF songs ever. It has to be released some point after Streetcar, possibly around the same time as the album is released |
Funeral for a Friend – Streetcar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song kicks ass, took me a while to get into it actually, there new stuff is a bit different from their old stuff, but it's amazing all the same. This song doesn't compare to 'Roses for the Dead' though, that's one of the best songs they've done so far. Eagerly anticipating the new album now, and seeing them Live this year at Leeds!! :D |
Funeral for a Friend – Juneau Lyrics | 19 years ago |
You'll get a better understanding on the 'Juno' thread, people seem to have gone more into on that one. The acoustic of this is fuuuuuuuuuucking amaaaaazing |
Funeral for a Friend – This Letter (Acoustic) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Pretty accurate although it's not "the letters are only" it's "The letters you wrote me" other than thats it's spot on I think. Brilliant song this, can't help thinking it's possibly something about suicide or self harm, brought on by a relationship. Like somebodies hurt this person "Leave me with this scar". They're having a shit time of it and don't care "Does it seem to matter anymore". He's reading over old letters "The letters you wrote me". Eventually this person is having suicide thoughts, he can't get over this person and it's the only option. "I'm letting go, but I can't let you go" "This Letter" may also be the suicide note/letter, if you get me. I may be wrong, feel free to shoot me down in flames...But that's what I get from the song!! |
Funeral for a Friend – Streetcar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Matt Davies: "This was one of the easiest songs on the album to write because the subject was so fresh. It's about being so far from friends and family that you feel disconneted from them, which was our experieience while we were recording the album in Seattle. All the feeling and sentiment was inside me, I just had to get it down on paper. It's a cliche to say we've grown, but we have, and this is about making sense of that." - Kerrang issue 1054 |
Bullet for My Valentine – Cries In Vain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Agreed Dragoncharmer |
Bullet for My Valentine – Hand of Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's a song about the pure mental emotion and anger someone can make you feel when it all fucks up. Probably about all the shit that goes on in your head when someone messes you about... Absolutely love the riffs and solo's |
Bullet for My Valentine – 4 Words (To Choke Upon) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Pretty good song, lyrics are mostly correct but I think apart from Betreaded one more time, But to many times that time I think it's Betrayed one more time But somewhere down that line Pretty good song, already awaiting b4mv's full album. These guys kick serious ass!! |
Funeral for a Friend – Juno Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I learned when studying one of the Shakespeare plays The Tempest in college, that Juno is also the 'Queen of Gods' in Greek Mythology. I thought that may have some kind of bearing on how Matt kind of felt about this girl, and thought she was really special. But then again it's most likely to be just a small coincidence! :) |
Funeral for a Friend – Escape Artists Never Die Lyrics | 19 years ago |
That's quite a nice take on things actually Nightfreak, never thought about it in that way before.... And I think you may be right actually! |
InMe – Otherside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The lastest song from the White Butterfly album, this a whole lot more melodic than some of there older stuff, Dave really showing that he's got a broader vocal range. I'm not quite sure about the meaning, I think it could possibly be about a girl who's mentally quite fucked up. He know's that somethings wrong, and she may be on the verge of killing herself ("She's slipping through my hands, and she begins to cry"). And he knows the next time he see's her may be on the otherside, which you'd assume is heaven or something like that. And the only comfort he can gain, is by closing his eyes and pretending that she's there with him. Well that's my thoughts on it, I just can't wait for the rest of the White Butterfly album now. It's due out in early 2005 I think now that InMe have got their record deal sorted out. And maybe another return to Middlesbrough when they're on tour...I really hope so!! :-D |
Silverstein – Last Days of Summer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No comments on this song? I love this song, so much emotion and some very relatable lyrics. Some of the lyrics I think are quite self explanatory really. For me this when the reality of someone leaving you really hits you. And you've fallen for somebody so badly, that you need them, and you rely on them to be there for you. And when it fucks up and they're gone, you feel like you have nobody else, and you need them so bad. I think the last verse is suicide. He can't get over this person, and feels like he has nobody and kills himself and he's going through his last moments. Brilliant song!! |
Jimmy Eat World – 23 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Adkins* How dare I mis-spell his name!! :( |
Jimmy Eat World – 23 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm just blew away by this song everytime I hear it. I also think this could be seen as letting go of your first love. Maybe not your first girlfriend, but the first person you ever think you have fallen in love with. Lines such as "No one else will have me like you do No one else will have me, only you" I think that could be like losing your virginity to that person, and he doesn't want anyone to 'give away the ending' because it's so close and meaningful to him. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying Jimmy Adkinds wrote it with the attention of the song meaning that, I just think some people may relate to it in that way. Anyhoo...This song is just brilliant, it's up there with Kill from the new album, still gotta love the old stuff though. "No one else will have me like you do No one else will have me, only you" Love those lines!! |
Soil – Unreal Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah I thought this was about some kind of relationship until reading the lyrics just then. I think it is about God. I think it's about life, he's maybe been hurt or something and he decides to blame it on God. Everytime something goes wrong though, he goes back to God. I'm not usually one for going to the God meaning kind of thing, but anything else just wouldn't sense. 'You Fuck with me, behind this garden'. I think he's talking about the Garden of Eden, it wouldn't make sense otherwise. Anyway, I also can kind of relate to this from somebody always playing games and fucking with you, maybe like in a relationship or something. Brilliant song though, in the top 3 along with Halo and The One |
The Used – Blue And Yellow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so damn good. I first heard it when me and my mates were sat around in his house drinking, and it just hit me straight away. It's just one of the best written and meaningful songs ever. Very few bands will be able to create anything such as this again. I get many things from this song. For me it could be about love, "You'll never find it if your looking for it". But then again the chorus strikes me as being about friends maybe. "Rather waste sometime with you". I left school and started college a few months ago, and some friends I don't see anymore, or we don't spend time together like we used to. That's the whole part of growing up I suppose, and how life and your relationships with people change. But sometimes when you're on your own or something, sometimes you just wish you could 'waste some time' with your friends like you used to. I get lot's of things from this song, but this is one of the best ever songs anyone will ever ever heard in my opinion. This song is just something amazing...Word's can't sum up it's quality |
Matchbook Romance – My Eyes Burn Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Brilliant song, one of my favourite Matchbook Romance songs. "Take Take everything, and leave me scrambling, reaching for something that wasn't there in the first place" Dammit...This is like when someone just kinda shits on you and leaves you, and sometimes as much as you want to hate them you just can't. And you always reach out, or hang onto the hope of that person rekindling something for you...even though you know that 'something' (love) wasn't there in the first place, and never will be. This song speaks volumes to me, the more I listen to these guys the more and more I like them |
Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It doesn't actually matter what the true meaning of a song is though. People relate to different songs in all kinds of ways, and people just state what they get from the song and how it relates to them. The real meaning doesn't matter, it's what you get from it that's the important thing |
InMe – Her Mask (P.A.) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is just the best InMe song ever. They played this when I went to see them live, and at the time I could relate to it so much. Amazing show, this was just a nice change from the usual InMe stuff which is also extremely good. "Laying stars you make me dream of bliss, And ive loved you all the time" Beautiful... |
Funeral for a Friend – Novella Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I still quite haven't figured out a meaning for this song, it makes me think of possible political views with all the 'Self Lies" "As we tear down there disguise" etc. But on the other hand the chorus reminds me of being on a night out. "I can see the headlights and pavements, My legs can't carry me that far". This being like when you're totally pissed and can't walk. And then "If this distance isn't enough they'll cry another river to see you drown". This reminds me of all the times when there always ends up with some girls crying. But I'm not sure the verses match up with the chorus. It's all intertwining and confusing. I love this song though, I personally love the ending where it all mellows down and then builds up into an instrumental crescendo, absolutely brilliant. Great end to the album, can't wait for the new one in 2005!! \m/ |
Funeral for a Friend – Bend Your Arms To Look Like Wings Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song so much. It totally reminds me of that phrase; 'Love is a battlefield'. Which may be where some of the idea for the lyrics of this song came too. I think this is pretty self explanatory. I love the line 'Just enough to cut the air from your lungs' Brilliant!! |
Funeral for a Friend – Kiss and Make Up (All Bets Are Off) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is one of their best ever songs, up there with 'This years most open Heartbreak'. So gutted they didn't play this when I went to see them live, but nonetheless the rest of the set was amazing |
Jimmy Eat World – Kill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I totally love this song, this also reminds me of my last serious relationship. No matter how much you try, you can't get over a particular person, you just can't stop loving them, and you really want to but you can't, and you feel like you're putting a burden on the other person. "You kill me, you build me up but just to watch me break I know what I should do, but I just can't walk away" This to me is like giving false hopes. Like somebody leading you on, make you think there's still a chance and then they do something and totally mess up again, and they can see what they're doing but they don't seem to care. But still you can't help having feelings for them. A situation lots of people have been in I'm sure, brilliant song one of my favourites off 'Futures' |
My Chemical Romance – Hang 'Em High Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have to say now, I'm totally addicted to this damn song. Gerard's voice is absolutely crazily amazing and emotional. I love the last two chorus bits at the end where he repeats; "don't stop if i fall and don't look back oh baby don't stop bury me and fade to black" Just after the instrumental bridge, it sounds amazing when he sings the first line "Don't stop if I fall" and then the drums kick back in again. Totally love this song, and all MCR songs but this in my top three favourite MCR songs. I really hope MCR do the festivals next year in England!! |
Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this is about having to split up with someone because one or the other has to move away a fair distance, which would mean it's impossible to continue a relationship. "To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we said our long goodbyes I nearly did" This to me is saying that because they still really love each other, it really hurts having to say goodbye, but in this case they have no choice. For me the chorus is basically saying no matter what happens, there'll always be a place in my heart for you, and I'll always think about you. "Louder, louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say" I think that is the dude's thoughts on like running away together, but really deep down they know that they can't do that, as much as they'd love to. Pfff...Totally love this song, brings back good and bad memories for me. Still not bored of it, never will be |
Jimmy Eat World – Pain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Ferking love this song. Can't wait to get there new album!! I think this has a pretty obvious meaning, I think it all relates to drug dependancy, and overdoses, and the all the mental fuck up it causes the person and there loved ones around that person. |
My Chemical Romance – Hang 'Em High Lyrics | 19 years ago |
she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down so get your gun and meet me by the door she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down so get your gun and meet me by the door she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down so get your gun and meet me by the door she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down she won't stop me put it down so baby... don't stop if i fall and don't look back oh baby don't stop bury me and fade to black don't stop if i fall and don't look back oh baby don't stop bury me and fade to black That needs to be added on the end of these lyrics |
My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What a great fuckin song!!! Ever since I heard this song, I went out and bougt both MCR albums and I've been hooked ever since. Really can't add anything more to the meaning, I think everything that's needed to be said has already been said in previous posts. |
Anberlin – Readyfuels Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I totally love this song. I first heard this the day before I started goin out with my ex, and it just reminds me of all the good times we had together. As for the meaning. It seems to be in 3 parts. The 1st Verse seems to about getting stood up, and all the anger that comes with that, "Feel everything on fire and I'm dressed to kill killing for your dress goodnight". And at the end he's saying help me to wait on you, and then he goes into the chorus, "Your arm in mine here near midnight and it feels so right". Basically I think he's saying that when they're together everything clicks, and it feels so right. But then the last verse seems to be him moving on and forgetting about that person and telling her to do the same, "I turned away So look the other way tonight". Well that's my take on things, might be completely wrong but that's how I perceive its meaning to be |
