Matchbox Twenty – Real World Lyrics 20 years ago
To me this is written from Rob's point of view, or another type of rock star. The star is just accepted that now they are famous they have to give up the real world and wish it would stop hasseling him. Then the chorus is about a female (or male pending the sex of the rock star) who wants to be with the rock star once he became a star. Hence the line "If I was someone else would this all fall apart?" meaning if I werent a star would you still be with me? Then there was "Strange where were you when we started this gig?" as in where were you before I hit it big? About everything else excluding the chorus he is pondering life not being a star. That is what it is to me. I think alot of people try and see the song in a way they can relate to and miss the meaning.

Jet – Rollover D.J. Lyrics 20 years ago
All those people who don't like Jet because they sound like other bands should think this through, now this only applies if you liked the bands they sound like. Those bands are old and not many people care anymore and the old rock sound was dying. Jet came along and revived it and if anything spread it to new crowds, such as me who has never heard of any of the bands you are talking about. So think of it as revival, not as stealing.

Five for Fighting – Bloody Mary (A Note on Apathy) Lyrics 20 years ago
wow indeed, NO idea where vampire came from, but I'll tell you what I got. There is three people involved in this song, female 1 female 2 and male. The male is going out with, married to, in some kind of relationship with female 1. Though he doesn't love her. He is actually in love with female 2, though for one reason or another he can't leave female 1 to be with her. My reasoning is in the beginning he is with female 1, and she recommends that he stay the night with her, bad weather I'm guessing and he can't leave. Take this pillow for your head, as in lay down, and ill take you, you see when a boy loves a girl and...you get where I'm going. Back against the beast has one of two meanings, NONE have to do with vampires. In many forms of literature back against the beast is the connatation for sex, or it could be to go up against something you would rather not want to. I'm going with the first one given the whole "and Ill take you" thing. They finish their business and the sun see's him through to the morning, letting him leave to work, perhaps where female 2 is. Let me translate the chorus in terms we have already set "On and on female 1 takes male, from female 2". Happily I leave her fed, he pleased her enough, (this is all in the same night). The whole sun thing again and leave with the chorus. That is how I got my idea, where vampires came from I haven't the slightest clue. Though you are up to believe whatever you want.

Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this is a great song. Obviously it can be interpeted many diffrent ways. What I got out of it is the life of a love relationship. I get this by looking at the the song, and not just the chorus (which many have the bad habit of doing). My reasoning is like when he says he is 15 he is dreaming wondering where his love is, nearly all 15 year olds haven't met the one they are going to be with forever. At 22 they are on fire making their way back from Mars, at 22 you are in the state of meeting each other and are head over heels and giddy, much like fly through space. At 33 you are married and are still a single person, yet considered a "they" as in he and his wife. A kid on the way and a family on his mind, self-explanitory. At 45 the sea is high, things are getting rough, heading into a crisis, mid life crisis, chasing the years of my life, wondering where all the years have gone. At 99 he is dreaming counting the ways to where you are, what I got was his wife has passed and as his own death nears he wonders where she went and he is going. That is just my intrepetation.
