Pink – Cuz I Can Lyrics 16 years ago
This song has absolutely retarded lyrics. They suit Pink - sorry, P!nk - to a tee.

"I'm trying to school you dog
Roof roof roof roof roof roof roof"

Yup ... she just barked in a song. That's not my imagination.

z_gimp is on the money. Pink needs a dosage of bullet therapy.

Ryan Gosling – Put Me in the Car Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song. It's just ... relaxing, calm, and with surprisingly good lyrics. I fall asleep to it :)

Radiohead – 2 + 2 = 5 (The Lukewarm) Lyrics 17 years ago
Invader Z?: "I think, in continuation of the 1984 allusion, that the alternate title (The Lukewarm) refers to how everyone in that world was neither hot nor cold towards the government. There were not anarchistic activists nor government lovers, everybody just complied to what Big Brother told them to do."

... have you /read/ 1984? You say you have, but you seem to have missed a vital point.

There was no 'lukewarm' in emotions towards the government. You loved Big Brother, period. The only other choice was hatred, and you either died or were turned.

Jakalope – Feel It Lyrics 17 years ago
It may sound weird to say, but this became a bit of a BDSM anthem to me. Not that it's the subject matter of the song, but that's what it came to mean to me. I'd started getting interested in it, and whenever I was doing any sort of session, I'd just put this song on repeat. It soothes, and pretty much puts you in the mood.
So ... yeah. Song about sex. Kick-ass though.

Gary Numan – Crazier Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm going to second that. I /love/ this song, but I really want to know what the hell that part says. Its a bit easier to hear in the Rico version that's on Gary's MySpace ... something about a tortured scream? Fuck, man.

Awesome song though. Found it through a fanmade Christian Bale video. Great video - highly recommend it. Recommend this song too :P Simple meaning: about going/being crazy, and liking it.

Depeche Mode – Master And Servant Lyrics 17 years ago
To everyone who's saying "S&M song", do some research on BDSM. This has little to do with sado-masochism, but very much to do with domination and submission. RobbyRaccoon was on the money with that.

Great song, very sexual/sexy lyrics. Blatant, if not especially insightful, view of the controlling element of BDSM.

Wonder if he's got a collar :P

Silverchair – Spawn Again Lyrics 17 years ago
Allow me to start off by saying I'm not vegan or vegetarian, though I tried it and still support the cause.

Now, for the idiot above me who said eating vegetables is stupidity: what the hell? If nothing else, what of all the herbivorous animals? And what of the intensely stupid people who eat meat - are they secretly geniuses, hmn?

Neither side of this argument is right or wrong, and neither side should be telling the others to kill themselves. That defeats the point.

That said ... Wikipedia reports Daniel is a vegan no longer, come down to vegetarian. Whether its true or not, who knows.

Silverchair – All Across The World Lyrics 17 years ago
Bite me UNKNOWIT88.

Personally, this song has really grown on me. I like this new theme of acceptance, it feels healthier.

Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics 17 years ago
Damn obvious what this is about. Society right now.

Silverchair – Straight Lines Lyrics 17 years ago
It's not a direct comment on sobriety or drugs, or religion. It's simply about being content in your life, accepting where you are and walking straight ahead.

Hinder – Lips of an Angel Lyrics 17 years ago
It's funny. Both myself and pretty every female I know think the fellow who sings this song comes off as a massive prick. If you don't want to be with your girlfriend, don't string her along. Fuckstick.

Silverchair – Straight Lines Lyrics 17 years ago
While I don't think silverchair have become commercial, I do think they've lost their edge. I classify this song as alt-pop, not rock whatsoever. I don't know, maybe his happy music just doesn't suit me. I adored the Dissociatives, and I adore silverchair even more - especially Neon Ballroom and Diorama - so I can hope that there's something on this album to give me hope.
While the song has beautiful sentiment and lyrics, I simply don't like it that much. I think his singing has certainly been better, that Ben and Chris don't really get to do very much, and that there is far too much keyboard for a silverchair song.

My two cents.

Nine Inch Nails – My Violent Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
Very impressive song. I can see what Spin meant when they said the new stuff was minimalistic.

Very, very open about the whole political agenda of the Year Zero thingie. Me likes.

Puscifer – Rev 22:20 Lyrics 17 years ago
I love the blasphemy, personally.

Great song; amusing that both of the songs of Puscifer that I know are about predatory women.

Puscifer – The Undertaker (Renholder Mix) Lyrics 17 years ago
Love this song; prefer it to REV 22:20 actually. Very NIN-feel, as someone pointed out - blame the Lohner influence, if you must. Fucking awesome song though.

Seems like he's in a nuthouse, really. Might be a metaphor for childhood in some way, impossible to know really.

The Tea Party – A Slight Attack Lyrics 17 years ago
Saw him back in 2004 I think it was, put on a great show. He's got new stuff in the works, so hopefully he'll be touring again.

And R.I.P. The Tea Party. Bastards.

JoJo – How to Touch A Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't relate. Pfft. Some sixteen year-old singing about giving it up if a guy's nice enough; not something I relate to, thanks all the same.

Hoodoo Gurus – What's My Scene? Lyrics 17 years ago
The start of this song just gets to me. "And another thing". Who starts a conversation like that? Like, sorry, do I know you? Were we speaking?

That's my little grammatical rant. Move right along.

submissions
Placebo – Commercial For Levi Lyrics 17 years ago
Don't read into this too deep; Risky's quote pretty much sums it up. Brian says it's about warning a friend and being saved himself, so that's what it's about. BDSM references and so on are inconsequential to that central meaning.

submissions
Scissor Sisters – Laura Lyrics 17 years ago
I like the interpretation of it being about the band starting, but leaves us with the question - what is the goddamn relevance of 'Laura'??

Depeche Mode – Waiting for the Night Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is gorgeous. Every time I hear it, I just relax, want to curl up and sleep. Beautifully written; and I'm with Ratgirl - it has really strong imagery.

submissions
Duran Duran – Girls On Film Lyrics 17 years ago
It's either about models or porn, but either way, it's the same thing: exploitation and regret. I love that line - "she wonders how she ever got here as she goes under again". That's beautifully sad.

VAST – Flames Lyrics 17 years ago
It's not just about sex, it's about love in all forms. Love is naturally a physical, mental and emotional thing, and this song captures that brilliantly.

I'll admit, at first I wasn't a fan. But it's grown on me over the past few years, and now I love it. I have it stuck in my head, and this sombre mood, that's enough to make my eyes a bit wet.

submissions
UNKLE – Rabbit In Your Headlights Lyrics 17 years ago
This video scares the crap out of me. I can't watch it properly, I keep flinching and looking away. Guh.

As for the meaning ... haven't seen the movie, can't judge. Maybe, who knows. Tea Party have written a heap of songs about movies or books, bands do it a lot. It's whatever inspires the songwriters, and anyone who's made music or lyrics knows that other people's works of creation inspire a hell of a lot.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Phenomena Lyrics 17 years ago
lmfao, I came here to point out that thing about 'phenomena' being a plural. As an English student, that bugs the hell out of me.
And if Grandmaster Flash says it, he needs grammatical lessons too.

Hawthorne Heights – Ohio Is for Lovers Lyrics 17 years ago
Eh heh heh ... I got referred to this song by a friend who does a metal/punk/rock radio show with me. He called it the "Emo Anthem" ... eh heh heh. Wasn't wrong.

Sorry, I prefer real rock. And if you want music about depression, go Radiohead. This stuff scratches the surface.

Faith No More – Easy (Commodores cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah ... definitely seems abnormal for them. I mean ... Christ, put this song against pretty much every other song of theirs, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I get the feeling it was fairly tongue-in-cheek, as tomauto said.

Radiohead – Pop Is Dead Lyrics 17 years ago
Even they know it's not that good. Kind of disowned it. Still, I kinda like it. "Jack him off!"

Radiohead – Anyone Can Play Guitar Lyrics 17 years ago
Obviously sarcastic. There's no contesting that. Plus, Yorke's made it damn obvious he holds no affection for Morrison. It's just his way of taking the air out of the "rockstar" stereotype's tires. And oddly enough, seems to take a fair stab at grunge, which is funny when you consider that Radiohead were lumped in with grunge at first.
I'm utterly new to Radiohead fandom, but I'm really liking them. I've only seen a couple of videos - Street Spirit, and the one with the explosion and the car ... damnit, can't think of the name. Anyway, like them for their music /way/ more than their videos.

Audioslave – Sound of a Gun Lyrics 17 years ago
Huh. That verse being in two songs on two different albums is weird.

I find this album better than Out Of Exile on a whole, but still not to the par of the debut album. There's less tracks on here that I've really taken to though, in comparision with Out Of Exile. That had Dandelion, Doesn't Remind Me, Drown Me Slowly, Man Or Animal, and above all, The Worm. So far all this has is Original Fire, One And The Same and Revelations. Tch tch.

submissions
Audioslave – Jewel Of The Summertime Lyrics 17 years ago
Definitely relates to youth, and the innocence that gets lost. Reminds me of Dandelion too.

Chris seems to be getting rather nostalgic on us.

Favourite off the new album. Fucking awesome shit.

And lay off Cornell.

submissions
Audioslave – Broken City Lyrics 17 years ago
This entire album's more funky than the previous ones, just as Out Of Exile was funkier than the self-titled. Me likes.

And to me, Cornell just sounds like Cornell, always. I don't like Zack; certainly don't want RATM back. *shudder*

Marilyn Manson – (s)AINT Lyrics 17 years ago
Reznor influence ... duh. Every song of his has a Reznor influence, as far as I'm concerned. It's impossible to escape. It's just more mainstream, and more screaming.

Good song. Video scared the shit out of me.

Audioslave – Original Fire Lyrics 17 years ago
Omgwut pretty much read my mind. Perhaps not specific, but how can you write a song about musicians in 1984 without thinking to yourself "hey, I started up in my internally successful band that year!"

And I like this song, and the album. Seems like Morello's guitaring is being played on as more of a strength with it's funky feel. Before it was more simple rock, though Out Of Exile improved on that, but this one has a good mix of rock and groove.

Sandi Thom – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) Lyrics 17 years ago
This song makes me laugh, and not in a good way. Can anyone imagine the Sex Pistols, for example, with flowers in their hair? Funny indeed.

As for the person who said punk and hippie are synonymous in their mind ... what?? How can you even possibly approach that? I'm only 18, and I'm not that oblivious to past social trends.

And as for living in "simpler times", punk wasn't exactly a simple, carefree movement. It was quite aggressive; doesn't call to mind simple times at all. As Johnny Rotten put it, "I am an anti-christ . . . I want to destroy the passer-by". It wasn't about hatred, but it certainly wasn't peace and love either.

This song ... geh. Frankly, in the bargain bin. And dear Miss Thom needs to realise pop stars /were/ around - don't flatter David Bowie too much. The man was one of the original pop stars dressed in trisexuality and space-fiction. I'm a fan, and I can admit it.

Nine Inch Nails – Suck (Pigface cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Thanks for getting it in before me AnarchistUK, was coming down to tell people they were stupid. Not cover. That simple.

I'm rather divided between the drug and sex option. I'm happy to settle for both. And this was awesome live: I fell in love with the slight variation of "I'm Jesus Fuck on ecstacy"; somehow that just exemplified sacriledge to me.
