| I think it`s very easy to point out that a person (probably Davie himself) is focusing in on another person and just the way they are as a person and that person is either someone he is not or hasn`t seen the light of day when it comes to real emotions, or being himself and letting everyone know who he really is. 'Let's tap your heart so we can paint the walls and see if anybody likes the tone or the pain' - Basically saying let`s let everyone know how your heart really feels and see if anyone accepts you for that. 'Open your veins so we can make a pool and bathe and see if anyone complains of the stain' - Also saying the same thing but not fixating on the heart as the heart refers to feelings. | |

Well I think that people are missing the a very obvious clue, the word 'dream'. As far as comparing to a film I`m guessing it`s a very good guess by the rest of the submitters but I as well as all of us have had dreams where it involves another dealing with love but we wake up thinking it wasn`t real and it was just a tease `cuz not all dreams are as great as we want them to be. I think he was writing a girl in a dream he had but it was just a tease and never could get this girl. Comparing it to a film was a just a good way of twisting up the song metphorically but I think some key words point out my point like 'All midnight eyes' - means to me that he is falling asleep 'Oh, if I could remain, but it's just a visit' - i fell that its just him escaping to his dream and he wants to stay but he can`t of course cuz reality hits when he wakes up maybe im just overstating the obvious but I really relate to this song cuz I have had a lot of dreams that tease me and I think a lot of the lyrics is referring to like experiences I have had. please respond and tell me what you think. |
