i agree with what kaatrien is saying however here is a more detailed analysis (some of it's pretty obvious but i'll chuck it in anyway): "Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey" Back in the atmosphere means she's been off in her own little world, and now has flung herself back into his. Drops of Jupiter through her hair means that he can see how she's changed and grown while away. "She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey" To act like summer meansthat she is always bright and happy, and that he feels good around her (like you feel good in summer in the sun) and to talk like rain is a reference to "relaxing to the mellow sounds of the rain". the next bit is kinda obvious: she's changed and he hasn't, and her being around him reminds him that there is still time to be that guy that she wants "Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey" Hmm well this ones interesting the return bit is obvious but to "listen like spring" i think means to be very inquisitive and open to new ideas, to be willing to leanr and grow. To talk like june is again a summer reference (he feels good around her and listening to her). "Tell me did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated" Basically he's saying that wherever she's been and no matter how much fun she's had he knows she'll be happier with him. "Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar And did you miss me while you were looking at yourself out there" I'm not sure about the permanent scar line...possibly a reference to his own imperfections? falling from a shooting star might be an ex-boyfriend who thought he was too good for her? "Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey" Obviously she's back...but to trace her way through the constellation means that everyone was watching her (attention from other guys?) etc. "She checks out mozart while she does tai bo, Remind me that there's time to grow" OOOOO i like this line...basically the first bit means that she is very diverse in her attractiveness, she's interested in all sorts of different things... from mozart(classicly classy) to TaiBo (modern and stupid (my opinion)). i like dark the 7th's interpretation...love the grey guitar line.....personally (i know the painting and the reference) but i think grey is emotionless, and his "grey guitar" is how he has emotionally disconnected himself from stardom and therefor it has no meaning to him. This song, as much as i like it, represents the problem with modern skateboarding. Ok i'm gonna come right out and say i'm an Aggressice inline skater, if you don't know what that means look it up. Modern skateboarding, and BMX, has turned into nothing but a tool used by FUCKING EVERYONE to sell their product. I mean what possible fucking place does a skateboarder have on a fucking fruit juice add....or in a video clip like "Complicated" There is nothing worse than seeing a once pure and beautiful underground art form being chewed up and swallowed by these bigt arse corporations who're coming into the industries, and exploiting them in every way shape and form in order to further their financial cause. I have no objections with people's interest in skating (when i say skating i mean boards, bmx and inline), but in before you involve yourself in the world of skating, you first need to understand that it's not something that can be controlled and harnessed and used for your own purposes. Skating is about freedom, the freedom to do whatever the fuck you want. It's a rebellion against the makers of our great cities the same way that surfing is a rebellion against the might that is our oceans. The reason i have such a huge problem with what skateboarding is, is this: The whole industry has sold out. Like i already said, its fucking everywhere. They're using skateboarding to sell all sorts of shit, and when something goes from rebelling against a city to becoming a tourist attraction within it, that's selling out. I don't blame people like Avril for getting in on the act. Since the boarding scene is being screwed, why not put your foot in the arse of the corporations and push them in a little further, while making a shitload of money? All that said i actually like her music, its nice to hear something on the radio that isn't complete crap |

This is for everyone that's claiming to be punk. Modern punk is bullshit. The closest thing you're gonna get to punk rock these days is Pennywise. To all you wanna be little blink bitches out there, wake the fuck up. Punk is dead...what you have today in its place is this happy pop i got the fucking girl bullshit. Today's idea of rebellious is to say boobies in the middle of a song and not censor it for the radio. Having said all that, i really like ths song. While most of what i listen to is old school punk (sex pistols rancid bad religion and PW etc) i can appreciate the new talent and the way that what used to be punk has progressed into what it is today. That and i'm an aggro inline skater and so many people, mostly chicks, don't seem to understand exactley what that means at first and then when they do they run for their life. Long live aggro inline, one day we will rule the world. |
