The Residents – Judas Saves Lyrics 18 years ago
This is easily one of the Residents' finest moments. Simply amazing.

It makes one wonder... who really founded christianity as a religion (or fervent cult); Jesus or Judas?

Matisyahu – King Without A Crown Lyrics 18 years ago
Look folks, I'm about as Atheist as they come, and I love both this song and the albums it is on ("Live at Stubb's" and "Shake Off the Dust... Arise"). Whether or not you agree with his message, this is some damn good reggae with beautiful, eloquent lyrics. Who cares what the guy looks like; It's the music that's important, right?

The Residents – Bach Is Dead Lyrics 19 years ago
My best guess on the meaning: True music is dead, killed by the death march of brainless, shallow pop. Of course, I am probably a little biased (just a little!).

C2B3 – Junior Lyrics 19 years ago
Two things:
First; yes, 10-40 is a viscosity rating of oil.
Second; "You must be pink adam, because you're (in my opinion) ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about what this song is trying to convey. Yay, you!

Barenaked Ladies – Helicopters Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, Kayla, it's a good theory, but I'm not quite convinced. Some of the things they say in the lyrcis seem to suggest an event that occurred during WWII. For example:
"This is where the Allies bombed the school, they say by mistake."
"Just another three-day foreign tour we'd never forget."
Both of which seem to suggest that the song is written from the perspective of someone else at the sight of WWII bombing sites, not necessarily themselves at Columbine (although they could be making a comparison between that event and their Columbine concert request).

Tom Waits – Hoist That Rag Lyrics 19 years ago
I somewhat agree with doubleoh, but I think there might be a little more to it (I'm just not sure what that is...)

In addition, bass-god Les Claypool (Primus, C2B3) plays the bass on this track.

Primus – The Air Is Getting Slippery Lyrics 19 years ago
The second verse refers to Jerry Garcia ("Jerry sits on high"), Pink Floyd, and the Residents, an awesome band that Primus has covered (and even performed with!) on occasion.

Primus – Power Mad (feat. Tom Morello) Lyrics 19 years ago
This song contains a number of references to the Presidents of the United States and how they have all been "power mad", from Washington (I didn't chop the tree down, dad) all the way up to Clinton (military show is blastin' off to Kosovo). In addition, I personally love the comparisons of the Commander in Chief to Pinnochio (a wooden marrionette, so true...), or the metaphor of a Broadway show to the American political scene.

Also, Tom Morrello (sic?) of Rage Against the Machine is given co-credit for this song, and his influence really shows.

Rammstein – Ohne Dich Lyrics 19 years ago
Just to clarify what some of you have already caught on to: "Ohne Dich" was actually written for Mutter. This explains why it has a more distinct instrumental sound (listen for that mandolin!) that is different than the rest of Reise, Reise (which, although it isn't quite as good as Mutter, is FAR from "really sucks", Mr. sonne). All in all, a beautiful song.

Good Charlotte – Once Upon A Time: The Battle Of Life And Death Lyrics 19 years ago
Hoo-boy, since when did these new-age Monkees up and decide that they were Tim Burton? This is an embarassment to music as a whole.

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 19 years ago
Ms. andcaitsaid, you really hit the nail on the head. Regardless of any of your pollitical affiliations, listening to rock stars (ESPECIALLY Green Day, the corporate sell-outs that they are) for your political information is one of the WORST ways to decide your own opinions.
Why, you ask? Most of these groups know about as much of our current situation as you do, often less, and they sing these jaunty little "rebellion" tunes TO MAKE MONEY! Do they practice what they preach? Some do, namely System of a Down, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Rage, etc. (and they started doing it YEARS before it was really acceptable, let alone TRENDY).
Sadly, "Bush-bashing" has become the flavor of the week, and every washed-up (Green Day) or corporate-produced (Good Charlotte) "punk" band is cashing in on the ignorant, middle-class teen, raging, dare-to-be -a-rebel-like-everyone-else trend and taking stabs at touchy political hot-spots.
That said, if you decide (rather than Green Day deciding for you) that you don't like how things are going, rather than sitting in front of your MTV (which is owned by Pepsi and by Coke...) chanting along with these morons, try STANDING UP AND DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. OK?

Rammstein – Kokain (English) Lyrics 20 years ago
Ummm, hey... Mr. Wilhelm... Let's stick to the music, okay? This isn't SNL, and Chris Farley is dead. Get over it.

Alien Ant Farm – These Days Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song, great video.
As for a meaning, I think it's just a fairly straightforward love song. The music is great though. Easily one of their better songs.

Monster Magnet – Doomsday Lyrics 20 years ago
This is, quite possibly, the most awesome song ever. (I could be wrong, though...)

System of a Down – Census Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is now called Theta Waves and is on the album entitled "Steal This Album". 'Nuff said.

Ozzy Osbourne – Crazy Babies Lyrics 20 years ago
After hearing this song for the first time just now (thanks Kyle), I have decided that it is not Ozzy at all, but a music-wreaking gremlin that tried to end Ozzy's career by slipping a crappy song onto this album. FIGHT THE GREMLINS!!!

Rammstein – Adios Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh, by the way; if you listen carefully after each set of three "Los"es, someone (Richard?) says something that sound like "bop bop shu bop". Turn up the volume and listen closely; it's really there...

Rammstein – Adios Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree; it certainly has drug-use overtones, but I am more inclined to say that the actual meaning of the song lies in the hopelessness and meaninglessness of life. The chorus lines (Nothing remains for you) seem to support this. Also, the "breakdown" of the music that occurs just after the midpoint of the song, like the one in "Rein Raus", is simply the most awesome sound ever made by anything.
