i think its their interpretation of marilyn monroe's suicide. its supposed to be her talking to herself. she feels lonely. she's a little bit insane or drugged up. she keeps taking pills but she doesnt remember how many she's taken. and maybe she didnt really intend on killing herself.. she was just so depressed. i think its really cool how they did that... even if its a bit morbid. but its genius to understand a persons final thoughts. |

i dont think he's asking her to marry him. i think he's actually asking "how can you throw away everything you live for" THe girl means something to him because theyre so similar. because of this connection he feels he has to confront her as to why she's ruining her life or maybe their life. but this is a confusing song, i could be wrong. |

this song could be taken as a person talking to a bf or they could be speaking of themselves. the second line should be none of the pieces would talk to you. i see it as someone coming to a point in their life when they dont understand themselves. they are many different things and those things contradict eachother. its lonely i suppose cause u cant relate to yourself anymore. the third line is actually "wouldnt u want to be who u had been" return to simple picture of urself. if this is written for a bf than the next stanza.." take the keys and drive" is a warning that theres no fixing theyre relationship. but if its to herself than she saying she needs to get away cause the place where shes at now is not providing anything for her. her dreams are broken so she must move on make new ones i guess. fav line: "bring me up to zero" same thing as breaking even. i guess she has lost a lot and nothing seems like it could bring her out of the ditch. haha "sinking is all i had planned" is funny... i guess. the rest of the song is pretty self explanitory. this is such a cool song. |

I love norah jone's voice. that and the melody make this song... otherwise... the lyrics really suck. "empty as a drum" "house of fun"??? soooo bad. but i do the love the part where she says "I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand Catching teardrops in my hand" thats fairly good. im interested to see what her other songs are like. |

i seriously hope anthony didnt say this as hard as theyre gonna get, cause they make some awesome fight songs, altho the slow stuff is good to. im not too sure about this song... whether i like it or not. they usually have deeper lyrics, this . nope, dont think i like. STILL CANT WAIT FOR THEIR TOUR THO! hopefully they'll continue playing lots of stuff off the other albums. |

favorite line: Dont you think the joker laughs at you? it could be a reference to john's distaste towards the over-analyzation of his work. to say that john simply wrote songs to baffle listeners is trash. every song john wrote... even if only one line makes sense, has at least one amazing philosophy. If john really wasted his genius to write songs that were bullsh*t he was a petty man. but ive never seen a song that didnt have some intellectual worth... "I am he as you are he as you are me..." i take it as we are one and connected spiritually. In his songs he either puts forth an astounding philosophy like the one above or he creates really cool images. this song in particular contains some of those cool images. |

I love how he uses "You glide through my head.." cause thats exactly the effect this songs produces. Everything slows down and flows... thats kinda how love is actually. a good reason to keep it in the dark would be that drug use wasnt socially accepted in the 60s, just like it isnt now. he prolly just wanted people who could connect with him to get it. to everyone else... they didnt need to know. so if any of the conservative americans made a fuss, what could they do?? there's no proof, just press comments that wrap around eachother and lead to nothing. BiteMe, i guess i'd have to say i agree with you... and by the way, nice try at inspiring an uprising... yea... that backfired. So basically this is an AWESOME SONG, whether you take it to be about drugs or not. personally i think it would be wonderful if you could get to a world like this without drugs... i guess john kinda does that with this song. ok said to much, later |

shit, this song blew me away. i can see where ur coming from jimmy. I read it a little differently but maybe its just cause im relating it to my life. the references to a lover make me think that this song is about a person falling for someone they cant have. Now the persona is feeling the strain..."time to pass you to the test." can they continue on like this?? the person they love is the only thing allowing then to "hang on." but the object of their affection finds love in other places. Now as the persona contemplates finding answers in death, they hope they can just get through this night and overcome the lonliness. Because after all, once you take your life, "there are no second chances." When he says "these bonds are shackle free" it could be that loving this person is painful but its something he willingly chooses for himself. The lust, lunacy, jealousy... all things that come with loving someone you cant have. F i love this song!! whatever it means its unbelievable. But I think there is some truth to what i have to say. The rest is just what i want the song to mean. |

This is really just a Lennon song. its beautiful. on the anthology they took a recording he did himself at home and fixed it up after he died. it really adds a natural touch to the song, free from any major production. of course this must be for yoko. |

i love this song. def under-rated since only 6 people have checked it out! George Harrison had some great philosophies and when they actually let him right he came out with some good stuff. I think this song shows some influence from his study of eastern philosophy. "it doesnt really matter what chords i play etc..." Just doing what ur called to do... being part of the universe... not disturbing it. i love it how he can make chords sound a little off but still harmonize. |

ive never actually heard this song... but i remember reading about it in book by Ray Coleman, (a close associate with the Beatles), "Lennon." supposedly this song was "dedicated" to the late Brian Epstein; originally titled "Baby youre a rich f*g jew." If u wanna check it, the title and author of the book are there. The song def shows Lennon's disgust of the "business type." But i always thought him and epstein were friends. maybe its some of John's dark humor?? |
