Something For Kate – Pinstripe (acoustic) Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
okay, I had a thought about this. Just listening to it and then trying to connect it to the title, could it possibly be referring to a prisoner? Ya know, prisoner uniforms were once referred to as pinstripes, and several things in this remind me of a sort of prisoner moitf (concrete, walk in a straight line, no need to throw your arms around). If not a direct song about prison, perhaps it is more indirectly about wanting freedom, or something like that. |

I'm pretty sure that the title comes from the Alfred Hitchcok film North by Northwest (ya know, the one with the scene where cary grant gets chased by a crop duster in a corn field) |

um, yeah paulcole, it's probably more to signify that the guy is japanese or something like that. Notice his girl was named Yuko. And it's no secret that karaoke is pretty big in japan. What relevance this has to the song, I have no idea... |

too right, this is a bloody good song. It too reminds me of driving in Australia. i think it's kind of a call to forget all about the things that hold us down, and to not worry about the bad things happening to us, because it's going to be alright... |

Powderfinger – Passenger Lyrics

i think this got on Triple J's hottest 100 a few years back, and with good reason. It's a bloody good song. I 'm not entirely sure about the entire song, but it feels like they're trying to lend a hand to someone who is stuvk in a place when they would rather see the world... |

Powderfinger – Over My Head Lyrics

just a few corrections: ideas should be "ideals", and the first line of the chorus should be "it all 'went' over my head".
A nice, simple song, all things considered... |

Ben Folds Five – Your Most Valuable Possession Lyrics

i thought this was such a cool thing to do. I'm not too sure about Ben's relationship with his dad, but this just seems like such a special thing to have about your dad to share with the world. His dad seems pretty coherent for just pretty much waking up, so that is cool also. |

Metallica – The God That Failed Lyrics

I do believe you guys have pretty much made the two main points about this song. I would just like to comment on the harmonies on this song in particular. It has a pretty cool dynamic of James going slightly first and Jason almost answering his words. To me, this has a subtle tone of James questioning God and God answering back. but that's just my opinion... |

Silverchair – Luv Your Life Lyrics

I just saw the video for this song. It's pretty cool, sorta like "yellow submarine" type animation, only with better graphics. I really enjoyed this song, and hippypippypunkska sounds like a troller to me. But then again, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I would have to agree on the whole with what's been said above. It isn't a typical love song... |

jaydw11, if that was ture, then what would be the connection to the title of the song. Would that mean death is what is needed?
I personally don't think it's all about death. I think it's probably deeper than that. Maybe it's more like a release from death, or the fear of death. I don't know, i just might be talking out me arse, but that's my .02 |

The Who – The Song Is Over Lyrics

this is a really great song. nice chorus, good melody, just good all around. I like to think it's about a guy who's just broken up with this girl and he's kind of regretting it. He has this great song about her that he would sing to her, but the only thing he can sing it to is himself and to his environment. It also feel's like a moving on song... |

Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics

Actually toolucky, I believe there would be more influence from Norse mythology than Celtic, at least in LOTR. Tolkien was very heavily influenced by both cultures, but Norse took more prevalance than Celtic. If I remeber correctly, the elvish language was based on a mixture of Finnish and other languages. But back to the song, It doens't neccessarily have to be exclusively about the lord of the rings, it could just be any battle between good and evil. The vocals are extremely good, but I can't figure out who the other voice is (is it plant or jones?). By the end of the song, I just get this tingly feeling for listening to such a great song. |

Things could be bad, but if you take the time to look around you, life can be wondrous and exciting, a beautifu mixture of events that shape our lives. Al Stewart – Roads to Moscow Lyrics

This song is about the german campaign "Barbarossa" during WWII, told through the eyes of a soviet soldier. Stewart tells it with such passion and imagery. I love the the lyric "Two broken Tigers on fire in the night, flicker their souls to the wind", because you can just picture it so vividly. great song. |

As far as I know there are at least two versions to this. The other version is great too, but instead of the second and 3rd decrees he just goes on more about legalizing drugs and then torturing the lead singer of the goo goo dolls. It's a real toss up to decide which one is better... |
