Its really sad, how bands like SOAD work their as*es off to write such a great song, and in the end (almost) no one gets the idea behind it. Wake up!!! Deer Dance is clearly about the WTO anti-globalization protests, ''Behind the Staple Centre u can see America...'' and the brutality shown by the police. By the way, the ''peaceful loving youth'' are the protesters (mostly students), and the ''plastic existence'' is the commercial superficial shallow life we live in our capitalist societies. I know no other explantion that fits the lyrics and the political standpoint of the band. Comments? |

IMHO its a song against using biotech in humans. He's not a test tube baby ''Der Mutter, die mich nie geboren habe ich heute Nacht geschworen'' It could be about a kid with a surrogate mother. Consider this too: ''gezeugt in Hast und ohne Samen'' clearly biotech is involved here. BTW, Hast = haste or speed, and not hate like some ppl say, hate = Hass. But i think this is the beauty of rammsteins lyrics: they can have a thousand meanings. could have been born in hate as well, not just born in haste. :) |

Well i have to say this is about the best song Tool ever made. And i really dont think 'Sober' has anything to do with alcohol, you really shouldnt take Tool's songs at face value! Consider this: (Jesus, won't you fucking whistle something but the past and done?) and (Mother Mary won't you whisper something but what's past and done.) Its somethin to do with religion. As we all know Tool arent religions best friends. Its like theyre using Marx's statement, religion is the opium of the ppl. And so they ask: Why cant we not be sober?. In other words: WAKE UP! its all a lie. Well i might be wrong ofcourse and this is just IMHO, but it all fits in well with the jesus and mary and 'i am just a worthless liar.. i will only complicate u' parts. Any comments? |
