Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – Under the Hedge Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Twice I've seen the first verse written as: "Oh I've been sometimes under your wall. PEEPING AT ALL where I'm not welcome. I've seen you one time stumble and fall but I still love you, you see? I've been five times back to the well seeking to TELL myself WE'RE something. But you can't teach what you can't sell and I'm not the only one it seems." That seems more accurate to me.... |

Simon and Garfunkel – He Was My Brother Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't know the story behind the song lyrics, but I read that the song was later dedicated to murdered civil rights activist Andrew Goodman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Goodman |
Dar Williams – The Christians and the Pagans Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Great song! It has so many subtle messages in it. I had an awesome college prof who would play it in her sociology of religion classes. Best line: And where does magic come from? I think magic's in the learning, 'Cause now when Christians sit with Pagans only pumpkin pies are burning. |

Great song...why is it called "Post Script"? Any thoughts...? |
Pinhead Gunpowder – Life During Wartime Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Green Day has just released this song in protest of the Gulf War II. It really is a great song and I think it sums up how a lot of people are feeling right now: -How can I rationalize my life during wartime lie? These lines are the best part: But war is going on right now/ And I'm not doing anything about it/ Without a crowd I'm not so loud/ I can't do anything by myself/ **But that's just another lie** That is exactly what is going on in America. We're being told that dissent is unpatriotic and that since our president has chosen for us to go to war that we should stand by the decision (right or wrong) because we're Americans --that anti-war sentiment will do nothing. But, as this song says, we *can* do something. And we *should* do something. It's time. |
Rage Against the Machine – Guerrilla Radio Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ChrissyTina -you can't be more wrong!! You said: "If you don't like the USA get the fuck out of our country...instead of trying to change things." How are things supposed to change for the better if there aren't people "bitchin'" about injustices around this country? Isn't democracy a gov't Of the People, By the People and For the People? And those People can't just idly sit by and let things happen. The voice of dissent is patriotic. I hate to break it to you, but America isn't perfect. We need social change to happen now, and one person can make a difference. That is exactly what this song says: It has to start somewhere It has to start sometime What better place than here What better time than now All hell can't stop us now And by the way Fuck Authority is the stupidest issue I've ever heard, especially in relation to this song. Rage isn't against authority per se, they're against unjust authority and exploitation. There is a difference. |

Madonna – Frozen Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I think it means that this person that we assume is a lover doesn't want to look deeper. They don't want to see what's really there. They want to see what they want not the truth. She doesn't want to let him go but she just knows that something isn't going right in the relationship. She cares for hkm but his heart is frozen and she's waiting for"it to melt to it's original form. |
