Tom Waits – On the Road Lyrics

I was about to comment that nobody had commented this song, but whatever, this song is still very great. I'm thinking of the Tom Waits/Primus version here, but the version with the piano is good as well. This is one of the ultimate road songs for me. I'm currently reading On The Road, so I'm constantly reminded of this great song. |

Queens of the Stone Age – You Got a Killer Scene There, Man Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
For some reason, I feel that
"What's the fuckin difference
We all gonna die
You gonna do something killer
C'mon give it a try"
could be about drugs. Like, what does it matter that we fuck ourselves up, we're gonna die anyway, wanna do something wild, do a line. But I don't know how much QOTSA sing about drugs anymore.

The 'coffee shop' line is good, but does it mean anything? I presume it's not about the marihuana coffee shops in Holland, so anyone care to explain? |

Yeh, I read about that too. But I choose theme for this song, the 'impossible love because of other things than pedophilia' one. *pling* |

This is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard by Tom Waits, and I've heard quite a few by now. The way he sings it, the way he plays the guitar, the way it is recorded... awesome. |

OHM not funky? OHM is an heavily underrated album, and as for funky; Walkabout, Aeroplane, Falling into Grace?
If John had been playing on this one, well then maybe it could be on MM or BSSM, but it is Dave and therefor I disagree with you that it shouldn't be on this album. |
