Pink Floyd – Sheep Lyrics 22 years ago
The rise of the commoners against the dictatorial (is that a word?) tyrants who selfishly take disgusting advantage of the people, to a point that it is anmost like devouring them, while deifying themselves as to justify the horrible acts of injustice they commit every day. The people excitedly take charge against the "Lord" (the deified leaders) as they "march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream", a dream of freedom and equality, with leaders no longer selfishly exploiting the people.
Once the people have taken over, they establish a new world order. But, ironically and sadly enough, a NEW tyranny is esablished ("You better stay home and do as you're told, get out of the road if you want to grow old", almost EXACTLY like the situation that they fought so adamantly and sacrificed so much to abolish.

A theme is that history repeats itself, be it good or bad...

Brilliant...one of the greatest pieces of music of all time.

Corporate Avenger – The Bible is Bullshit Lyrics 22 years ago
This song...oh man, I just read the lyrics, and I had to stifle a truckload of uncontrollable laughter. I mean, the line "The Bible is bullshit" is just, well, could they put it in any different way?

I have to admit, Christians did kill Indians. But remember, they were the first European settlers on North America (or are they talking about the country India?), and quite a paranoid, superstitious bunch they definitely were. So you could bet they freaked out; had a violent momentary lapse of reason. I don't know, it was the wrong thing to do. Well, we shouldn't dwell on the past. I think that saying that a religion is "bullshit" because some members of the religion hundreds of years ago did some abominable things just hates religion, refuses to give second chances, and is seriously stereotypical. I know, there were these so-called holy wars, like the Crusades in which medieval Christians decided to slaughter muslims in a "holy quest" to capture Palestine, since it is the land in the Christian religion where Jesus had lived and died, and the Church was established there by the apostles. Also, the situation that the world is going through now with Muslim terrorism, sadly, is very much like the idea behind the Crusades: Kill the infidels! is the message behind these religious radicals. And this idea goes starkly against the teachings of the Bible and the Qu'ran. Both religions condone peace with all people, even though the Qu'ran condemns infidels. People who do these things are making up their own rules to religion, and are simply stereotyping.

If someone says that the Bible, or any holy book, is "bullshit", they have no evidence to back up that pathetic statement. There is no proof that the Bible is false. But as well, there is no proof that it is true. That's one of the points of religion: taking everything by faith alone.

Radiohead – Permanent Daylight Lyrics 22 years ago
Amen, Amen. Genius is right. This song sends chills down my spine just thinking of it.

The easiest way to live is to believe that you don't exist, and that nothing you do matters. Also, it's the easiest way to decieve yourself. Basically, the people who think this way are seen by others living their life like they had their heads on backwards.

Think the lines

"Fodder for the animals
Living on an animal farm"

has anything to do with the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell?

Radiohead – Subterranean Homesick Alien Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree a lot with kaisute and PA on this one. The guy feels so bored and so different than everyone else that he just wants something drastic to happen, something to cure him of this insatiable urge for soemthing to happen. And if something happened, i.e. a UFO abduction or whatnot, and he told his friends about it, he wouldn't mind if they thought he was crazy. He knew that it really happened, and he could live knowing. Probably like an insane person, ironically.

Another negative utopia caused by high technology and the ideal lifestyle being empty. Basically the underlying theme of OK Computer.

Basically, when all these physical ailments and numbing medications are pressed into us, we lose the intuition and humanity that makes us the way people are, and we seriously miss out.

Radiohead – Kid A Lyrics 22 years ago
I like this song and Radiohead. Lots and lots. Freaky song.

Oh...get two copies of Kid A, and fire up this song. About--what is it?--13 seconds, start up the other copy of Kid A on this song. It blends together very well...very strange. I dont know if I got the times right or anything, but something like that. It's cool.

Radiohead – Trans-Atlantic Drawl Lyrics 22 years ago
Now this be a funky one, like lots of Radiohead songs. I think the first part is the struggle to become famous, hence the wailing of the speaker that "I was born for your magazine". But, basically, the last part stumps me completely and utterly. I like Radiohead.

Staind – Epiphany Lyrics 22 years ago
Well...I guess my interpretation is quite a bit different than most of the people who've posted here earlier. First of all, I think this song has nothing to do with a girl. However, whenever I hear this song, I think about a girl I have fallen deeply in love with. Just don't know why.

First of all, the song starts with

"Your words to me just a whisper
Your face is so unclear
I try to pay attention
Your words just dissapear"

As many of us know, Aaron's parents had divorced when he was a kid. He probably never experienced a true, loving family, with a supportive father and mother. A kid absolutely NEEDS his parents. Now he's completely grown, and he's gone into the world. Troubles have been fired into his life, and he has nowhere to lean. He never knew how a real father should be, so he's searching for something to depend on. The world gives so many answers through religion, through drugs, through occupation, etc, etc...There are so many things in this world used to take our minds off of the bad things in life. Well, he is searching, but he can't get an easy answer. He can't hear anything clearly, and all these choices are clouding his judgement. He's trying to listen to the voices spaking to him, but to him they're worthless advice that could not help him at all; their words just disappear.
Okay, moving on.

"'Cause it's always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said"

Basically, what he is saying here is that his life is ridden with despair and sadness, and problems. He's asking that we forget that he's not a perfect person, and just listen to what he has to say.

"So I speak to you in riddles
'Cause my words get in my way
I smoke the whole thing to my head
And feel it wash away"

As somebody mentioned earlier, he speaks in riddles through his songs. Sometimes, I feel the same way: I can't express the way I feel through measly normal words. Sometimes, riddles or poetry can be more expressive than thousands of prosaic words. He says "I smoke the whole thing to my head and feel it wash away". He's had to resort to drugs to escape the agony of everyday life.

"'Cause I can't take any more of this
I wanna come apart
Or dig myself a little hole
Inside your precious heart"

He just has no desire to face his life anymore, and one of the most looming solutions to his pain frightens him the most: suicide. But if he could find something else to ease his pain, he would bury himself so deep into it as to be completely surrounded in it, whatever it may be.

"I am nothing more than
A little boy inside
That cries out for attention
Yet I always try to hide"

He's facing the same situation that he faced years ago. He's screaming and crying for someone to listen to him and to care for him, but he's so afraid of what may be a reply to his pleas that he runs and hides before the truth can come out.

"'Cause I talk to you like children
Though I don't know how I feel
But I know i'll do the right thing
If the right thing is revealed"

I dont exactly know how the first two lines interpret in my mind. But the last two lines: He knows he would do whatever the right thing was without hesitating, if he only knew what it was. He wants meaning in his life.

Love this song. Much. And oh, by the way, the lyrics are right. They match the lyrics in the little Break The Cycle CD booklet.

I don't know what to say. Song leaves me speechless, ever since the first time I heard it.

Radiohead – Lewis (Mistreated) Lyrics 22 years ago
Well, I'm thinkin' that this song is about some guy named Lewis.

Yeah.

Ok, there's more. Lewis is just so sick of just being another "worker ant" in the daily hustle and bustle of work and life, being just treated like dirt by everyone and told what to do (being crushed to fit), and all of the illusions of happiness that run through the media every day (take for example, most "popular" music is about love, but they're so fake that they seem like they're "under anasthetic). But no matter what he thinks he SHOULD do, the speaker coaxes him not to end his life, since we never even noticed or understood how much Lewis was going through. Now it would be the best day of his life, since now that they knew his problem, they can help him.
I believe that this song is about how we ought NOT to commit suicide, and that many people are good. There is a great meaning to everything. It wasn't just **POP** there's the universe; there was a master planner in charge of everything. There is just too much proof to say there is no God. He definitely exists.

Radiohead – Cuttooth Lyrics 22 years ago
I'd have to say this as the correction to the lyrics:

I will lead a wallpaper life
Or run away to the foreign legion
I will lead a wallpaper life
Or run away to the foreign legion

And as the tanks roll into town
As the tanks roll into town
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you

As the tanks roll into town
As the tanks roll into town
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you

I dont know why I feel so tongue-tied
I dont know why I feel so skinned alive

Run until your lungs are sore
Until you cannot feel it any more
Run until your lungs are sore
Until you find an open door

I build you up to pull you down
Tie you to your feet, and watch you drown
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you
A little bit of knowledge will destroy you
I build you up to pull you down
Tie you to the stake and watch you burn in hell

I dont know why I feel so tongue-tied
I dont know why I feel so skinned alive

I'll find another skin to wear
I'll find another skin to wear

I'm gonna have to say that I cannot stop listening to this song. It ... ahhh, the indescribable harmonies and melodies...just awesome...

I just wish I knew what the heck it is supposed to be about.

Radiohead – Fitter Happier Lyrics 22 years ago
Very weird song, but good. Immediately, you notice that speaker is actually a computerized voice, which lets you know that the lifestyle it describes is too scheduled and perfect according to examples set by "experts" and such that it couldn't possibly be real. He goes on, desribing how fit, happy, and productive he is, and how he's kind to all animals, has a very safe car, is a patient and better driver, eats well, etc... As the song goes along, you notice the tone of the music getting more ominous and sad, hinting that there's still something missing in this "ideal" lifestyle. He says "Concerned, but powerless" which reveals that the speaker can do nothing and is, basically, as he proclaims later like "a pig in a cage on antibiotics". Apparently, living the so-called "Ideal" lifestyle is so dehumanizing that it basically rots your soul into an oblivion, and you basically become a shell of a person, not feeling or loving, which is a fate even worse than death. Man...

Radiohead – You and Whose Army? Lyrics 22 years ago
Some people (the one with the cronies) seem waaaay too overconfident of their abilities, and would just love to try to overtake and drive crazy the other, obviously extremely stronger ones. The speaker, obviously very confident himself, taunts and makes fun of the other side by sarcastically calling them the "Holy Roman Empire", and he also asks them "You? And whose army?" making fun of them, saying that their "Army" is "You and your cronies". So, the speaker is gonna completely crush the other side. He's gonna ride out on ghost horses to completely and utterly decimate them.
