| This song is about Bjork's then and current boyfriend Mathew Barney. The crooked handshake part to me is him proposing. In Bjork's eyes he is wonderful, yet she can not marry him. To me this is the song that questions the album's motif of domestic. He wants to be married (domestic) well her being a pagan and connected with nature is the complete opposite, a force of nature. She wants to be free but still love this man. She comes from Iceland which is almost a frontier while he an Idaho native moved to New York to pursue art. This song is about being who you are in a relationship, and the same moral is found in Hyperballad as Bjork's character has to be destructive to be able to love again and she hides it from her significant other. | |
