| David Bowie – Where Are We Now? Lyrics

Having now heard the rest of the album it seems "where are we now" is the final question after reflecting on what has happened to Bowie and Europe over the course of Bowie's life, there's the holocaust, Normandy, love and death, escape, youth and fame, the pointlessness of it all. Bruges la Mort meets industrial with fixes of psychadelia when its all too much. |

A song does not necessarily mean what the songwriter says it means. Also a song does not mean what it means to you particulary if you don't listen so good. 50 Words for Snow is about how fleeting existence is and how the most beautiful things are the those that are lost so quickly, and lost over and over again, in different incarnations, and the tighter you try to hold on, the quicker they are lost again. |

The opening motif one of the works of genius of the 20th century, a closer look ...
the first two notes wide apart and dissonant, its a C then a B more than an octave apart, moving closer together, finally resolving on A. The whole meaning of the song captured in those descending converging tones. |

No, the line is ironic, it shows contempt for the judgemental line before it, but most lines in the song should be read as ambiguous since that is the whole point of the work, (also, whenever you use the word should you should stop writing about glam, they thought the concept of should was hilarious.) |
