this song to me is about a person who is priviledged enough to think about the fact that life is more than just what it seems...it is not only about living from day to day and making ends meet...it is about discovering what the meaning of the time we have on this earth is truly about...it can def feel like a chore bc it is so hard to decipher why we were put here and what our purpose is--but once one understands that we are essentially set free, bc we are no longer stuck in the rut "that the man in front of you" is stuck in...btw incubus rocks...no one else is as talented as they will ever be..from the lyrics to the music--THEY GOT IT ALL! |

ok this song means that no matter how shitty your life becomes dont let it overtake you...sometimes there are things in this world that none of us can control and even when they happen we need to "dance on that fire" instead of "going home and hiding"---like when it says "dont mourne the ebbing tide"--Incubus's songs are basically all motivational and this song is no different... Mr Boyd is about happiness and living life to the fullest possible...sure everyone gets down and we all have bad times BUT DONT LET IT CONSUME YOU |

wow...this really made me think! i too reflect on the lines from incubus songs and it has made me change how i view things. I have always known about them, but until recently, I never actually sat and really listened to their songs. The lyrics are just amazing, and Im so glad that I was able to hear them in this new light. I am happy that you conquered your fear of public speaking and Im glad that you shared this story! |
