Mumford & Sons – Winter Winds Lyrics 2 years ago
I think you are all wrong... but at the same time right on at least some, if not so many levels. Here's what I think this song is about:

There is a man and a woman (and aparently some brothers, or son's of Mumford... lol, but still on that same tangent... some friends, and perhaps family, or even children involved), and they are in love, this man and this woman! In love like the world has never or ever will know! They 'knew' what they were getting into, they knew it was going to be difficult... perhaps impossible. There may be distance, each living in an entirely different area (say 415 miles away from each other, am I being too specific?)... and as real and as profound and as mind blowing their love is/was... reality sets in...

And so there are four chords... two for the man, and two for the woman... each has a chord that is his/her heart... and each has a chord that is his/her head.

Now if all four 'chords' are woven together... or even running parallel for long enough, then their love will grow! but if even one of those 'chords' (her heart, his head, his heart, her head... it doesn't really matter which, all it takes is one) goes astray... then it all falls apart! Reality sets in, and at least one person's heart has to tell it's own head to stop! Stop! STOP!

It doesn't matter who does it first... it's inevitable. It's sad... and it's breaking my (I mean his) heart...

But we have to try to remember the true happiness that did exist!!! And our family... our friends... our children... all of those who whitnessed it... they get to live in that memory as much as we do. Perhaps even more so than than we do; because that man and that woman hurt so much to the point of moving on to something else that will just fill in the blanks... The others... the friends, the family, the children... "The ones who stayed" they remember it as magic. They remeber it as romance... as the man and the woman move on into the mundane. As they 'accept' reality... the others remember it as romance... let them see only that! Let them hold on to that! Please!

There IS true love in this world! And it's rare! But sometimes you have to wait until the next world to realize it. Sometimes it IS important that your heart tell your head: "Heah, head! As much as you want to be stubborn about this... I'm going to break... I'm breaking here, and I'm tired of breaking. I've been here before... so gimme a break already!"

... and my head told my heart:
"Let love grow!"
But my heart told my head:
"This time no... this time no..."

... so let us be respectful to one another as we break up... let us tell the children, the family members, the friends... that all will be okay...
