| No I reckon its "floes under our feet", floes as in ice floes. It is in keeping with the whole metaphor of the song :) | |

No, I honestly don't think this song has any relation at all to drugs and addiction. "Light up, light up" Is merely saying, be happy again. To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we said our long goodbyes I nearly did "I nearly did" means he nearly cried because he mentioned it makes it hard not to cry when they said good bye but he "nearly did". Louder, louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say Is followed directly by: Slower, slower We don't have time for that All I want is to find an easier way To get out of our little heads So its saying why didn't you tell us to stop wasting our time? Its looking back on the relationship and wondering why they did what they did. You've been the only thing that's right In all I've done Its just saying that she was the best thing in his life. And as mentioned above this song was written for a dying friend. Making the past tense and looking back at their lives becasue one of them is ending. Not drug related. Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess Especially this verse, it sounds like they have has problems in the past but now when they are confronted with the possible death, they want to spend the next few days together. And it will be "making up for all this mess" I think you can look at it from the perspective or drugs and addiction but it makes more sense in another :) |
