Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 4 years ago
I'll always think of just one person when I hear this song. (Even though I've loved this song longer than I've loved him.)

I saw this quote the other day that went something like this, "Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass. It is about learning how to dance in the rain". Maybe someone comes into your life and they are "the storm". You both wish things could be different, but they can't. It is an endless cycle that will never change because of the "same old fears". I think this song is about realizing that we just need to learn to live with the choices we make and our wounded souls. It's heartbreaking, but it is reality (and I hate reality).

This is without a doubt one of the best songs ever written. It is best when cranked up high.

Peter Sarstedt – Where Do You Go To (My Lovely) Lyrics 4 years ago
There are so many things I love about this song! It was a hit in 1969. The singer is from India. I love the crazy Euro-waltz tune. Paris has always been a favorite city of mine. The references to Paris, and to France in general, make me smile. I enjoy skiing and would love to go to St. Moritz one day in my life. The Stones are one of my all time favorites bands (which is saying a lot).

I can not relate to the part that she comes from poverty and is trying to live a life to make up for that. (From birth to my current age, I've always been fortunate enough to enjoy the same comforts.) What I can relate to is the connection the singer has with his subject (his love), the fact that he loves her, and that he knows some things about her that really no one in her current circle know. (Perhaps friends in his circle know about her situation. Maybe he is a talker. Who knows? That is another story, anyway.)

When he sings, "Where do you go to my lovely...." to me he is saying, "Do you remember? Who do you think you are now? Do you know that I love you and care for you? Do you give a damn about the past we shared? About our love and the potential you threw away? Do you care?"

He knows she bears the scar from their past, because he does as well. They both have "bruises on their soul", as someone said above, because they have hurt each other so much.

At the end, he is like a child taunting a friend. When he sings, "I can look inside your head", with that sing-songy ahaha or alalala that he throws in there- it is perfect. Like "Na-Na-NaNANA!" I know you better than all of these people. I TRULY know who you are. I am in your head and in your heart.

The moral here is if you choose a path that isn't true to yourself, you are simply cheating yourself. You will do your best to forget the other paths you could have taken (choices you had, people who loved you deeply), but you'll never "get over" them. They will forever tear at your soul.

How do we ever truly know that we made the right choice? I guess we just do our best and try and talk ourselves INTO it.
