  • Not the original order I want it in, and also missing Burnout Eyess by oOoOO (it's not on here yet! but neither is the new Within The Ruins album either!)

  • ok it's in order now, except still missing Burnout Eyess, which I put in between track 14 and 15. And sorry for the double negative...

  • It's impossible to comment because it depends on what kind of message you want to send her. Are you saying 'Look how diverse I am' or 'I want to make you smile when you listen to this'? What kind of girl is she... shy, funny, too perfect, way relaxed, scary smart? Whatever you put on the playlist, make sure she knows and likes at least 3 of the songs.

  • maharc....Thank you for your comment for which you thought was impossible to make. My request is vague, however, I feel you have misunderstood me.

I'm not asking whether or not you think a girl will like this particular collection of songs; I could tell you what kind of girl she is until I am blue in the face, and we could guess based on superficial characteristics whether or not she will like the 'message' I am sending with this particular mixtape, but I am really not interested in finding a correlation between personalities of young women and genres of music.

All I really want to know is how YOU feel about the songs. And your point about putting at least 3 songs that she knows and likes on the list; if she listens to the whole cd and gives it back to me saying "thanks, but I don't know any of these songs." I will take it back and simply say "Thank you."

I want to thank you, maharc, for giving me this opportunity to be more specific with my request.

  • I say take off "I like it" by Enrique. Some of his old stuff is fun and sweet, I'll admit, but I feel like this song doesn't fit with the mix at all and is also much more cliche.
    Just my opinion!

  • Yea so I gave this to the girl a while back and that pretty much sums it up. I gave her 3 or 4 more mixes until I realized that she is just not that into me, or she doesn't like any of the music. Fast forward a few months, I meet another girl out of random circumstance and hit it off. Her stay was temporary, but we had a good time and I enjoyed her company. I like giving people music, especially mixes of music that I like and that I think other people would generally like. I made about 6 or 7 mixes and went and bought a ten dollar CD travel case. The day she left, I drove her to airport, gave her the booklet of CDs and did not speak to her until a few days after that when she emailed me in response to my text messages. The email instructed me to forget about her and to not try to contact her anymore. Sure it makes sense in that we are a long distance from each other and all; perhaps she was simply not interested (although spending almost and entire week together, you'd think she'd tell me earlier). After this event, I have decided to never again make a mix for another girl (unless she's a good friend) and I will tell you why. When I share a mix with a girl, this is clearly a point in time that she realizes I may be interested in her. From that moment on, she becomes disinterested in me. Why? My opinion on the matter is that she realizes that they no longer need to try to win the affection of me when I am clearly handing it right over to them. So from now on, I will never just hand out a mix to some girl, much more a case full of mixes; I am going to choose the recipients of my musical affection with greater care. It is my firm belief that if you prematurely gift another with the grace of your favorite tracks, you're gonna get stepped on and over. While we're on the subject, don't even let them know you're interested, because once that is disclosed, the jig is up. I am not trying to say it will always be like this. And don't misunderstand me, this dynamic works both ways; I am not making any sexist insinuations. I am simply sharing my personal experiences. Good luck to you all.

  • ...nice mixtape.

  • I would ditch the rakes song- a little too edgy for something to give to a girl...
