This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
Jesus, I
Jesus, i've taken my cross
i'll leave and follow me
jesus, i've taken my cross
i'll leave and follow me
destitutes, despise, forsaken
i'll leave and follow me
i'll leave and follow me
jesus
perish every fool division
all i've sought and hope to know
yell out which is my commission
god and heaven i'm on my own
god and heaven i'm on my own
man mad trouble to distress me
to drive this heart to the cross
man made trouble to distress me
to drive my heart to the cross
resolute, reborn, reborn
reborn, reborn, reborn, reborn
jesus, i've taken my cross
i'll leave and follow me
jesus, i've taken my cross
i'll leave and follow me

i'm waiting for my man
26 hours in my hand

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Holiday
Bee Gees
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Actually, the correct lyric is "follow THEE"...it's taken from an old gospel hymn...Billy just made a new version. I find the numerous references to God on this CD really interesting...and I would love to talk to Billy about it, if I ever had the chance.
Yes, I believe it's also "God and heaven are all my own" if I'm correct.
Ah, the sign of a "true" fan...appriciates the musician no matter what they do...oh wait, that's not what drummerchick's doing...my mistake....
I think jimmy does a great job on Jesus, I/Mary Star of the Sea. He plays thru the whole song without any pauses.
It definitely does seem like a Christian song, it seems like alot of people are hesitant to accept that but to each their own and all that.
LOL. Ya think? If they're hesitant to accept it than they simply cannot read. I'm guessing anyone who does not believe in God would have little interest in a song like this one other than to ridicule it. And if they ridicule, it's because they are small-minded bigots, no different than if they were ridiculing a song about blacks; strong women; atheists; etc.
This song is about Billy coming back. He left the the "religion" (Smashing Pumpkins) and a new "religion" (ZWAN) is born.
It's nothing Christian about this song. Billy's old religion is Smashing pumpkin. He has taken his cross and started the new religion ZWAN.
lamby has an interesting point not sure whether it's right but something to think about. the person who posted this song got lots of the lyrics wrong. It's an obscure old hymn in an antique religious book that Billy bought. The song is awesome - 14 minutes of prog-rock perfection. JxPx i agree with you. I doubt Billy Corgan is a Christian, but if youre that anti-Christian that youd stop listening if he did, youve got problems

so perish every fond ambition god and trouble are all i've known yet how rich is my condition god and heaven are all my own god and heaven are all my own
rooms full of salt fault my pluck and a poets charm so far, ever far little stars that burn the holes in my soul
and everything just feels like rain the road we're on, the things we crave and everything just feels like rain the nights i sleep, what's left to dream when everything feels like rain
drift as i dive find the deep out of reach of all light stars, ever far listless tides along the changing shore
and everything just feels like rain the road we're on, the things we crave and everything just feels like rain if i should sleep, what's left to dream when everything feels like rain
Billy didn't actually write this song. some parts were taken from a lou reed song and someone else by the name "lyte". Remember, Zwan is not all controlled by Billy, and thats what he likes as opposed the pumpkins where he had almost all creative controll. I think of this song as more of a revolution within yourself, than conforming to a certain religion.
