One, two, one, two, three

2020 enemies
What a dismal odyssey
Hell bound the apathy
Is there any remedy?
'Cause we bicker over Listerine
With Twitter as our liturgy
What a crummy legacy
2020 enemies

If I were you
And you were me
Would we still be doomed
To disagree?
'Cause you'd be me
If I were you
And you never see
My point of view
If I were you
If I were you, mm-mm

Hey Romeo, it's Juliet
Are you Montague or Capulet?
Or some denigrating apathetic
Insult that we both forget?
'Cause fake is on the internet
And fear is on the TV set
Our rage is a habitat
For our 2020 novelettes

If I were you (if I were you)
And you were me (and you were me)
Would we still be doomed (would we still be doomed)
To disagree? (To disagree?)
'Cause you'd be me ('cause you'd be me)
If I were you (if I were you)
And you never see (and you never see)
My point of view (my point of view)
If I were you

Hey babe, we're the dinosaurs (oh-oh)
I get the feeling we've been here before (oh-oh-oh)
Ain't it clear what we're aiming for? (Oh-oh)
Hey babe, we're the dinosaurs
Yeah, but what if me and you
Were in each other shoes
Could we break through?
To somewhere different, somewhere new
'Cause if you're stuck with me
I guess I'm stuck with you
Could we rise above the scars
That we both put each other through

If I were you (I think I'm ready to try us)
And you were me (I think I'm ready to try)
Would we still be doomed (to put the past behind us)
To disagree? (Yeah, to put the past behind)
'Cause you'd be me ('cause it's already behind us)
If I were you (yeah, I'm sick of falling behind)
And all I see (I think I'm ready to try us)
Is what you put me through (maybe I'd be ready to try)

If I were you
And you were me, I would be you
And then we'd both be true
I wonder what we'd do
If you were me, I would be you
Would one plus one be two?
I wonder what we'd do
If I were you

I don't know what it is about this song that makes me just stop for a few seconds everytime I hear it. I don't relate it to god, not really sure what I relate it to exactly. All I know is that it's addicting, and even though this incrediable sadness falls over me every time I hear it I can't stop listening to it. It's incrediable

It's a shame that so many of these people have only heard of switchfoot because of 'A Walk to Remember'

wow this song is so sweet and true. one of their most beautiful songs. i believe its about having that special someone that you can find peace within, refuge from the world, when you feel confused... everyone has something that they have to get through, and this song just speaks about that special someone, be it family, a close friend, or that girl your searching for.

    =)

Even when we suffer, God is faithful to be with us. When things are "in the way", God still finds ways to get through to us. God gives us peace when we would otherwise be confused, and hope when we're discouraged. If we surrender ourselves to God, we will find our true identities through Him. Only through God can we have all of these many blessings and gifts because He has promised them to those who believe.

this song is heart warming, esp. when thinking about everything that God has done in my life, I'm thinking-I don't deserve all this! Coz i'm never gonna 'get through' anything without God helping me get through it.

This song was in the movie "A Walk to Remember" and when I first heard the song when it played in the movie, I lost it and started to ball, because the song is so beautiful and completely fits in with what was happening in the movie. So I love it because it's beautiful and has wonderful meaning.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
