@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Yo La Tengo
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I disagree. I think he's telling us that we spend too much time thinking about things that aren't important instead of opening our eyes and seeing what's going on around us. Lines such as "cause you don't see with your eyes, you percieve with your mind" point this out blatantly. Also the use of the words fictional and mystical help. "Hype shit" refers to all of the crap we meditate on such as what clothes we're going to wear or even what music we're going to listen to. I think that the guys are just saying that we're psuedo-simplifying everything and we need to stop. As for smoking marijuana... I don't see it. Could just be me.
@damionignis "sunshine in a bag" I know someone down the thread said something about that alluding to our soul being the sunshine and our body the bag. But I mean come on let's get real I think some will say something like that souley because they don't wanna acknowledge what he's actually saying. That's just my take on it.
@damionignis The song Clint Eastwood is a series of clues for anyone who is seeking greater meaning in their life. It is packed full of references to Carl Jung in relation to the psychology of the unconscious. See The Transcendent Function: Jung's Model of Psychological Growth.<br /> <br /> The transcendent function is the core of Carl Jung’s theory of psychological growth and the heart of what he called individuation, the process by which one is guided in a teleological way toward the person one is meant to be.<br /> <br /> For a deep dive journey into the unconscious process, read The Red Book or for a shortcut overview and introduction to the idea, read Lecture 4 in the book, Introduction to Jungian Psychology.<br /> <br /> ---<br /> Also...<br /> <br /> "cause you don't see with your eyes, you perceive with your mind" - according to Jung, the unconscious is the birthplace of thought and this is what, I think, this line is referring to.<br /> <br /> "fictional and mystical" - "mystical" refers to the mystical quality of the collective unconscious, which is an evolutionary memory of all that has passed and all that is to come. It's a universal concept. On the subject of the "fictional", I'm going to pass you on to a YouTube video called, "Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God". At some point in this lecture, Jordan Peterson covers the concept of Fiction as an abstraction that tries to explain meaning and purpose in the same way that numbers and mathematics are an abstraction that can explain the way the universe works. It's a very powerful concept and extremely enlightening once you have wrapped your head around it.
@damionignis Did some digging on the function of fiction.<br /> <br /> The function of fiction is the abstraction and simulation of social experience. Engaging in the simulative experiences of fiction literature can facilitate the understanding of others who are different from ourselves and can augment our capacity for empathy and social inference.<br /> <br /> See "The Function of Fiction is the Abstraction and Simulation of Social Experience" by Raymond A. Mar, Keith Oatley. It's available as a PDF online.<br /> <br /> Also see, "Why Fiction May Be Twice as True as Fact" by by Keith Oatley on the New English Review website.
Like all songs this has several keys to figuring out the meaning. Firstly there are sound clips from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" - the Clint Eastwood film, and the "sunshine in a bag" could refer to money in a bag - hence the name of the song.
However, there is another "sunshine" people sometimes forget. Rewind 30 years, "Sunshine Acid" was a particular potent form of LSD manufactured that was as high as 300 micrograms (that's about 3x as potent as a relatively potent tab of blotter these days) - it was commonly referred to as just "Sunshine"
"I ain't happy. I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag. I'm useless, but not for long. The future is coming on."
"Yeah, ha ha. Finally someone let me out of my cage." - Often when consuming psychedelics, people feel that something is "released" within them.
"Now time for me is nothing 'cause I'm counting no age." - Psychedelics cause time dilation, a minute can feel like an hour, or time can stand still completely for what seems like weeks.
"No, I couldn't be there. No, you shouldn't be scared. I'm good at repairs and I'm under each snare." - Psychedelics often make people afraid, even those who have never taken them, but they can be powerful healing tools - and the tripper just needs to remember that the psychedelics are only so powerful, they won't kill you or make you do anything stupid.
"Panoramic view, look I'll make it all manageable." - Psychedelics change perception, making it easier to analyse things, LSD in particular does this a lot.
"Chicks and dudes, who you think is really kicking tunes?" - Here they're talking about how much psychedelics have influenced music, they're saying it's not the artists that came up with the ideas, but the acid.
"You think it's fictional? Mystical, maybe. Spiritual hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy." - Talking about how some people don't understand psychedelics and think they can't help you, when really they're a very powerful aid. They can also "clear your view" as suggested when things are clouding up your mind, by removing the ego, or "mental chatter" temporarily.
"Priceless to you because I put you on the hype shit." - This is about how it has benefited him in his creative work - creating music.
"You like it? Gun smoking, righteous, with one toke, psychic Among those, possess you with one go." - This is the part that confuses people, as a toke is the inhalation of Cannabis smoke - however people often smoke while on LSD as it can heighten the trip and make it more intense, one toke of even the best Cannabis will do very little, but while you're tripping, that's another matter.
"The essence, the basics, without it, you make it. Allow me to make this childlike in nature. Rhythm, you have it or you don't, that's a fallacy. I'm in them, every sprouting tree, every child apiece, Every cloud at sea, you see with your eye. You see destruction and demise, corruption in disguise, From this fucking enterprise" - Anyone who has ever taken psychedelics will probably get a sense of deja vu when they first hear this song. This part in particular very much explains a large part of psychedelics. When the ego is lost you feel a strong sense of one-ness, that life is in everything, every rock, every tree, every bird, every person. It also gives a sense of duality, you see the love in everyone, but you also see the destruction and hate, the murder, the corruption in the government and corporate enterprises.
"Y'all can see me now 'cause you don't see with your eye. You perceive with your mind. That's the inner." - Do I really need to explain this part? Really? Just do a simple Google search for "third eye", or "inner eye", "inner mind" and "psychedelics"
"Bust a few rhymes so motherfuckers remember Where the thought is. I brought all this So you can survive when law is lawless. Feelings, sensations that you thought was dead. No squealing, remember that it's all in your head." - This whole last part is going on about how the song's basically a quick dedication to psychedelics and telling people not to worry and go with the trip, because it's just a drug and it'll be over soon - even if the experience is going bad.
@Royaltramp This is undoubtedly the best interpretation.
@Royaltramp gg wp! I agree, this is the best interpretation!
@Royaltramp - while I smirk at many of the comments and interpretations on here, I signed up just to say "good work", time was well spent ... most who get it, just get it and have no reason to look for an interpretation on the net.. <br /> <br /> "Okay google: Where do babies come from?" <br /> <br /> Protect the innocent, I get it. But .... I just hope nobody is taking one side publicly on the World Wide Web, while believing in another. <br /> <br /> For those that get this far, I'd add a thought just for you!:<br /> <br /> If you didn't catch it... There are multiple levels of story-telling and metafores. For example, there is a "PG" story to this "piece of art" and an "R" storyline as well. ... maybe not R, but PG-13.<br /> <br /> <br />
@Royaltramp @Royaltramp Wow, very in depth explanation. I still don't think it has so much drug related lyrics (nearly the whole song), but you may be right, especially since the the first lyrics (sunshine in a bag) which are almost certainly about drugs, Keeps being repeated over and over the whole time. The repetition may even be there to show what the focus of the song is.<br /> <br /> The flip-side is that the Ghost's rap seems to be more about social issues and how people perceive things, which is not reliant on drugs. He talks about how people don't always think or question things. He talks about music culture. The idea that famous rappers are successful because "you either have rythm or you don't.That's a fallacy." <br /> The lyrics "Spiritual hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy." sound like how people turn to music and look up to their bands for support when they are Feeling crazy, stressed, etc.<br /> But the ghost mock this, saying how all it takes it one toke (one song, just playing music) and then he's able to possess them. -Basically, people often become mindlessly in love with bands and artists and will support and praise them too much because of how much the music affected them. <br /> The power of music also goes back to the lyrics talking about a power being spiritual, or mythical, which is how some music can make people feel. And the band seems to those people as a "spiritual hero", regardless of the actual ethics or actions of the musicians.<br /> "Y'all can see me now 'cause you don't see with your eye.<br /> You perceive with your mind." This being said by a giant ghost rapping I think says how people don't see reality, but instead just create these huge, overblown ideas of what musicians are.<br /> <br /> "Bust a few rhymes so motherfuckers remember<br /> Where the thought is.<br /> I brought all this So you can survive when law is lawless.<br /> Feelings, sensations that you thought was dead.<br /> No squealing, remember that it's all in your head." <br /> To me, this seems like an egotistical statement, like "remember it was ME who's music gave you happiness". Maybe a statement on how some bands treat their fans, or some fans feel.<br /> <br /> And in the end, the main verse could actually just be about music. Music can make people happy and motivate them. (although sunshine in a bag is a weird metaphor for an ipod...)<br /> <br /> Your interpretation is very good though, and I think drugs has some part to the song.
@Royaltramp awesome intrepertation<br />
@Royaltramp I disagree.<br /> It seems to me that the chorus is about hope and confidence in self perseverance. Sunshine in a bag would imply that 2-D had caught a glimpse of "sunshine" (happiness and etc) and trapped it inside a bag so that he can keep himself going forward. When you continuously fail to be motivated it may feel like you're becoming useless, a complete waste to society. That small glimpse of hope is the only thing that could ever drive you to do anything ever again. When 2-D "captured happiness" it means that 2-D somehow found a way to get back on his feet and make it worthwhile.<br /> <br /> Your interpretation lacks strong defining connections to trips. Sunshine, for example, has a clear positive connotation attributed with it. It would seem obvious to me that someone would name a drug that. it also has major interpretations in literature, that doesn't mean it's all referring to that one drug..
Alright. I'm not a huge supporter of drug culture. Regardless, I think it's hard to deny that the lyrics of this song make references to smoking marijuana. Listen to other songs on the album. Track 17 starts with the sound of a lighter and a bubbling bong. 'Clint Eastwood' is an awesome song, but don't try to attribute innocence where it isn't due. In short... yeah, it probably has to do with using drugs.
Absolutely right - to a point.<br /> <br /> You have to look at whose singing it, and as perceived from the Gorillaz universe, who's writing the lyrics.<br /> <br /> 2-D (lead vocals) suffers from chronic headaches and migraines. I believe the song was not only a reference to drug use in general, but to his medication being his only solution, the thing he is ultimately dependent on just to live from today to tomorrow.<br /> <br /> Much of this song is character driven. Even the "rap portion" of this song, while obviously containing deeper meaning, frequently addresses Russel (the drummer) whose body the ghost (whom is rapping) he inhabits. <br /> <br /> So yes, definitely drug use with some deeper lessons to be spotted throughout, but from the characters' personal lives, too.<br /> <br /> :)
Not drugs.<br /> <br /> The video and song name is a reference to the famous western starring actor Clint Eastwood, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The yell from the film's theme song can be heard at the beginning of the video. Closeups of the bandmember's faces are featured throughout the video, something that is used often in spaghetti westerns. Midway through the film, Del summons a graveyard from the ground, which is a reference to the ending of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Although often mistaken for referring to drugs such as marijuana, LSD, or mushrooms, the song's famous chorus, "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag", is actually a reference to the money in the bag Clint Eastwood's character rides off with at the end of the film.
I understand where you get the whole drug thing. I do not think this song's complete meaning ends with drugs. It may tie in though. "You see destruction and demise, corruption in disguise, From this f***ing enterprise, now I'm sucking to your lies" Those lines to me describe a corrupt government and the drugs seem like a tool used by them to "subdue" or control the people. Basically brainwashing people so that they dont even consider other options.
MartinWIthers, I get how you got the movie references from the song title...but this song has a lot of reggae influence to it, so I always thought the song title was a reference to either the album "Clint Eastwood" by the Upsetters or to the reggae DJ by the same name.<br /> <br /> Even though it may not be the ENTIRE meaning to the song, theres absolutely zero denying the song is partly about weed. When Del is rapping you can hear the sound of someone taking a toke off a joint, then right after he says "With one toke your psychic"(at least thats what I've read on other lyric sites"<br /> <br /> "Sunshine in a bag" is another thing that just made me thing of pot, since it always comes in baggies.
"the essence the basic, without it you make it", without marijuana/other drug actually you can feel the sensation and see the spiritual guider that it's all in your head, so when the law is lawless you can remember that.
In response to psilocybintendancies:<br /> <br /> I think that part may be more in reference to the govenment's shitty marijuana policies and stuff.
In response to psilocybintendancies:<br /> <br /> I think that part may be more in reference to the govenment's shitty marijuana policies and stuff.
Although drugs are considered bad and I do not condone the use of drugs, this is not about marijuana. However, this is more related to the psychedelic DMT. This is a natural occurring chemical in humans and plants, however, very illegal. They reference "sunshine in a bag" which refers to its color, whitish-yellow, or straight yellow, bought in little baggies. "Gunsmokin' righteous with one toke, psychic with one go, posses you among those": one hit of DMT will make you trip, hard. You learn alot about yourself and the world you live in, with your inner 'guide' leading you. <br /> <br /> You can argue about drugs and whatnot, but talk to someone who has experienced a DMT trip and they could tell you these lyrics are spot on. To know what the definition of life is? Priceless for you, because I put you on the hype shit. You like it?
Uderp is spot on
this is not about drugs. This is them simply saying that all the things we have today are prostetic happiness. "i aint happy, im feeling glad, i got sunshine in a bag" in one of clint eastwoods movies he looks into a bag full of gold and calls it sunshine in a bag. This is them saying money controls us and makes us think we are happy when we arent, therefore being only glad. THey names the song clint eastwood so people could have a definite understanding of what they meant by sunshine in a bag...so technically it has nothing to do with him. This is just my opinion however.
@Stabone4 The song is a series of clues for anyone who is seeking greater meaning in their life. It is packed full of references to Carl Jung in relation to the psychology of the unconscious. See The Transcendent Function: Jung's Model of Psychological Growth.<br /> <br /> The transcendent function is the core of Carl Jung’s theory of psychological growth and the heart of what he called individuation, the process by which one is guided in a teleological way toward the person one is meant to be.<br /> <br /> For a deep dive journey into the unconscious process, read The Red Book or for a shortcut overview and introduction to the idea, read Lecture 4 in the book, Introduction to Jungian Psychology.<br /> <br /> It's easy to mistake the meaning of this song as relating to drug use especially since it takes one on a journey beyond the range of normal or physical human experience. But if you familiarise yourself with Jung's work, you'll see precicely what I mean.
2D says "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag. I'm useless, but not for long. The future is comin' on" because he's Stuart "2D" Tusspot and he's always on a combined sugar and aspirin high.
If you know anything about the characters, you know that the rapper in the song is a ghost (named Del) who lives inside Russel's head. The entire rap is all about Del's mammoth-sized ego, how he can alter reality as a ghost, and about the impossible existance of Gorillaz in general as they're cartoons.
"You think it's fictional? Mystical?" - Referring to the fact that the Gorillaz really aren't real and people refuse to accept them as a band
"Spiritual" - He's a ghost
"Hearable" - They're here just to play music. That's their point in "life," such as it is.
"Ya'll can see me now cuz you don't see with your eyes" - 1) he's a ghost and you need a 6th sense to see ghosts 2) the point of Gorillaz is pretending that they're real
All-in-all, it's a weird, darkly humorous song by a British group. No drug abuse. No dark meanings. It's Brits being Brits. End of story
There was an interview with Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett (creators of Gorillaz) and they said the song was NOT drug related. They said the "sunshine in a bag" represents whatever you want it to represent, because everyone gets their happiness from different things.
@MezDispenser
"Yeah... Ha Ha! Finally someone let me out of my cage" Something has been released, at this point in the song, there is not enough context to understand what that may be.
"Now, time for me is nothing cos I'm counting no age Now I couldn't be there" Introductory description, whatever this is, it is an infinite being or concept that transcends time and physical limitations.
"Now you shouldn't be scared I'm good at repairs" This is something positive (as its telling us not to fear), and something progressive (as its stating how it can correct the flawed)
"Intangible" Definition: "Unable to be touched or grasped; not having physical presence"
"Bet you didn't think so I command you to Panoramic view Look I'll make it all manageable" Its saying that you probably weren't even paying attention to whatever this was, but no worries, because he's going to break this down for you ('make it managable'). Panoramic view being a view that allows you to see everything at once.
"Pick and choose Sit and lose All you different crews Chicks and dudes Who you think is really kickin' tunes?" You really think that Gorillaz are the ones making music? You really think The Beatles were responsible for "Let It Be"? Pick any artist you want -- same situation. It is becoming apparent that whatever this is, it is something incredibly powerful -- implying responsibility as the 'true' source of any artist's talent.
"Picture you gettin' down in a picture tube Like you lit the fuse" Imagine yourself being a Rock superstar, a rapper, talking in interviews about your craft, like you were the one responsible for your artistic talent ('the fuse'/'the spark' is traditionally associated with initial inspiration).
"You think it's fictional Mystical? Maybe Spiritual Hearable What appears in you is a clearer view cuz you're too crazy Lifeless" You think this is all New Age crap? Maybe it really is truly divine, but it certainly is downright spiritual. You can friggin hear it, and eventually it flows through you if you allow it to. The end result, music or created culture, is more beautiful than your actual self ('cuz you're too crazy'), and he basically calls you out (as a person) as lifeless without the presence of...well...this inspiration.
"To know the definition for what life is Priceless For you because I put you on the hype shit" I've tuned you in and you can't put a price on that.
"You like it? Gunsmokin' righteous with one token Psychic among those Possess you with one go" This is basically bragging, really, just a really abstract way of doing so. He's basically saying all it takes is one listen (if you are listening to music/experiencing culture) or one moment of inspiration (if you are the one creating the culture/music).
"I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine, in a bag I'm useless, but not for long The future is coming on" This makes a bit more sense later on at the end of the song, but basically I believe this chorus is someone realizing the inspiration and creating a song, and tapping into that magical feeling and feeling unstoppable, (like Clint Eastwood) in the process. As a listener, you come to realizations within yourself that make you feel complete as an individual (feeling great, like fuckiing Clint Eastwood). Alternatively, Del could just be calling this insane inspirational concept that possesses all artists alike a force as powerful as our view of the fictional Clint Eastwood hero.
"The essence the basics Without it you make it" Anyone can tap into this. If you aren't already experiencing it, when you're bored you'll make it on your own. It is so natural to the human spirit, that if it isn't present, inspiration will take over on its own.
"Allow me to make this Childlike in nature" He's gonna break it down even further
"Rhythm You have it or you don't that's a fallacy" Pretty obvious, mainly repeating how anyone can tap into this.
"I'm in them Every sprouting tree Every child apiece" Self-explanatory.
"Every cloud you see You see with your eyes" When you see, you see the literal, the physical and to a deeper extent in the context of the song, the surface level.
"I see destruction and demise Corruption in disguise From this fuckin' enterprise" "Clint Eastwood"/Inspiration/This concept that's being described in this song sees the problems of the world and whatnot inherent in our current societal system.
"Now I'm sucking to your lies" On a literal level, this is saying inspiration/'clint eastwood' feeds off of your all the problems of the world and your personal insecurities because without them there wouldn't be any reason to create anything.
Through Russ, though not his muscles but the percussion he provides with me as a guide" Russel (the drummer of Gorillaz) is the vessel through which "Clint Eastwood"/Inspiration manifests itself through. Not Russel himself, but Russel's ability to allow inspiration to flow and music to come to creation. This concept described in the song is found in the cultural output of humanity once a human allows inspiration to flow -- basically stating, as previously stated in the song, that without 'clint eastwood', we are lifeless.
"But y'all can see me now cuz you don't see with your eye You perceive with your mind That's the inner" So now you get it. You are finally seeing beyond the surface. Some poetry here, really. He's saying we don't see anything anywhere with just our eyes, its really the mind at work perceiving on an individualized, inner level.
"So I'm gonna stick around with Russ and be a mentor" 'Clint Eastwood' is leaving now, but he'll be around for a few more bars, guiding Russ to keep the beat of the song. If you remember the music video for this song, Russel gets taken over and possessed by Del. This completely matches up with the interpretation of this song, and it causes the zombies to literally awaken from their graves (people waking up).
"Bust a few rhymes so mother fuckers Remember where the thought is" The whole reason he is doing this song is to give people a clue to the truth behind inspiration and creativity and its purpose in the world. The real thought behind humanity -- the driving force for progression.
"I brought all this So you can survive when law is lawless Feelings, sensations that you thought were dead" Whenever, ifever, everything falls apart and we are trying to rebuild ourselves, we'll need to remember how to be genuinely inspired and progress as a culture.
"No squealing, remember (that it's all in your head)" No complaining if things get really bad, or if you can't catch the fuse. Here's the twist, there is no divine power, there is no Clint Eastwood or personification of inspiration -- it's all you, if you allow yourself to.
Am I the only one who knows how to use psychedelics on this site? A few people have mentioned DMT, which is very close, but they haven't really explained it. This song is most explicitly about mushrooms, and the mushroom God that you contact when you take them for shamanic purposes. If you actually know how to use psychedelics properly, you can open your third eye, which is why he says "Ya'll can see me now cuz you don't see with your eye, you perceive with your mind." It also explains the line "Hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy." Mushrooms delete your cultural programming and force you to see the world for what it really is, as seen in the lines "Nah you shouldn't be scared, I'm good at repairs and I'm under each snare." and - "bet you didn't think so I command you to." The last line that proves beyond all doubt that the song is about the Mushroom (also called The Logos, The Alien, The Other, etc...) is the line where he says "I'm in 'em, every sproutin tree, every child apiece, every cloud and sea." Mushrooms teach you that all life is connected, that we are all one and that the gift of life is in all of us. I could go more in-depth, but I'm too lazy for now.
I've tripped a few times and know what your'e talking about. Your interpretation and my interpretation go similar places, it seems.
You guy. You got it guy. And the God thing is the inner animal spirit we have. I believe.
Cute..."inner animal spirit" and your user name is "monkey..." :) I don't believe the song is about God, but if I have to have someone contained within I hope it's Jesus. He looked pretty cool preaching barefoot on the hillside surrounded by the sick; weak; and powerless.
It could be both. DMT and Mushrooms are so similar but the last lines of the first verse as well as the first lines of the second verse point towards DMT. "One Toke" and "Without it you make it" as you smoke DMT and it's naturally in your body. A high mushroom dose is basically a DMT trip except it lasts hours rather than a few minutes.
The whole song is about how we dont perceive the world to be what it really is. Throughout the song its spoken in 1st person, who i believe to be the source/god 'pick and choose, sit and lose, all you different crews, chicks and dudes, who do you think is really kicking tunes?' i believe refers to how we make choices that makes us think we control our lives when really we every aspect of our lives is controlled. 'you have it or you dont thats a fallacy' were always told that your good at something or your not, or 'its in your genes' meaning you cant change it so the solution is to just accept what your given ( for example were now told there is a fat gene, so some people are fat and others arent, thats just life? ). 'Every sprouting tree, child apiece, cloud you see with your eyes i see destruction and demise corruption and disguise from this fkin enterprise' We are blinded by what we have been told, we see things in an innocent way or for our benefit when our lack of perception leads us to believe this, the world is all wrong! 'Yall can see me now cause you dont see with your eye, you perceive with your mind, thats the inner' He now talks about how you can see him now when earlier he was intangible, we observe things based on what we have been told/fed through the media and the lies that circulate; you have every power in you to make decisions for yourself based off your own experiences and instinct, you have to find it in yourself to see this. There are so many other references i believe people have overlooked, with this point of view in mind go back over the lyrics and see for yourself!
This is a song referencing awakening the self. You all aren't ready for the truth if you think this song is just about drugs or a simple reference to a Clint Eastwood movie. Sigh.
I ain't happy. (He isn't happy cuz life is miserable)
I feeling glad. (But he is under the influence of drugs. So he feeling glad.)
I got sunshine in a bag. (He got drugs in a bag)
I'm useless, but not for long. (The trip hasn't start yet. Without the trip, he feels useless. But not for long cuz soon the kick will start.)
My future is coming on. (Soon he will see things or something else.)
Finally someone let me outta my cage. (Finally the kick has started)
Now time for me is nothing, cuz I'm counting no age. (When you are high on mushrooms, you have no control about time.
panoramic view... (You see things like it is paranormal)
Y'all can see me now cuz you don't see with your eyes. (He can se a ghost now, in the trip.)
What the thought is I brought all this, so you can survive when law i lawless. (You brought all monsters and ghosts from your thought, so you can do what ever you want.)
-It's all in your head!!!
@banega I like the idea, but I have one comment. Panoramic doesn't mean paranormal in this context. In the context of panoramic view it basically means big picture. <br /> <br /> I know I responded 11 years later.
