Ring, my friend, I said you'd call
Doctor Robert
Day or night, he'll be there any time at all
Doctor Robert

Doctor Robert
You're a new and better man
He helps you to understand
He does everything he can
Doctor Robert

If you're down, he'll pick you up
Doctor Robert
Take a drink from his special cup
Doctor Robert

Doctor Robert
He's a man you must believe
Helping anyone in need
No one can succeed like
Doctor Robert

Well, well, well, you're feeling fine
Well, well, well, he'll make you
Doctor Robert

My friend works for the National Health
Doctor Robert
You'll pay money just to see yourself
With Doctor Robert

Doctor Robert
You're a new and better man
He helps you to understand
He does everything he can
Doc Robert

Well, well, well, you're feeling fine
Well, well, well, he'll make you
Doctor Robert

Ring, my friend, I said you'd call
Doctor Robert
Ring, my friend, I said you'd call
Doc Robert

Doctor Robert

i was almost positive that this song referred to Dr. Robert of Pala, in Aldous Huxley's book "Island". Huxley is on Sgt. Pepper album, so I know the Beatles were fond of him. Also, in the book, Dr. Robert is the administer and main supporter of "moksha medicine" (which is I believe psilocybin syntesized into a pill, it's either that or some other hallucinogen) for NATIONAL HEALTH.. "works for the National Health" Dr. Robert also empasizes the point that you can understand your whole self until you explore all your consciosnesses. Taking the medicine helps people understand. "you're a new and better man" "he'll help you understand"

Dr. Robert is also in the book in the process of making more advanced medicines and is pretty much spending all his time for the advancement of these ideas. "he'll do everything he can"

tell me with all those facts considered that Dr. Robert isn't Dr. Robert McPhail from the fictional Island of Pala

The DR. Robert the song refers to was a Doctor in the 60's who would supply the rich and famous with drugs.

Paul said in a book that when he thought about this song it was more about a doctor that solves all your problems via drugs...e.g. "If you are down he’ll pick you up, Doctor Robert, Take a drink from his special cup, Doctor Robert" anyway thought I'd throw that in...

This Doctor Robert was almost certainly German-born Dr. Robert Freymann, a 60 y-o German born physician with a practice on East 78th Street (the Dr. Charles Roberts cited in other places you may have read didn't exist. This was an alias used by Jean Stein to conceal the identity of another speed doctor.) "I can tell you in ten minutes", he said "probably 100 famous names who come here." John Lennon, the author of this song, was one of these famous names. He died in 1987.

The "Doctor" was actually a drug dealing art gallery owner named Robert Fraser who did indeed supply the rich and famous with drugs. He was arrested and charged with drug possession during the 1967 police raid on Keith Richards' Redlands home.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
