I light your cigarette, I bring you apples from the vine
How quickly you forget: I run the bath and pour the wine
I bring you everything that floats into your mind
You don't bring me anything but down (3x)

When you come 'round
You are a raging sea, I pull myself out everyday
I plead insanity, 'cause I can't leave and I can't stay
You say won't you come find me and yes is what I say

You don't bring me anything but down (2x)
Everything is crashing to the ground
Well, maybe I'm not your perfect kind,
Maybe I'm not what you had in mind,

And maybe were just killing time
Here with your silky words
And your eyes of green and blue
Here with your still beliefs that don't match anything you do

It was so much easier before you became you
You don't bring me anything but down (2x)
Everything just crashes to the ground
And you come around (2x)

Well, no more playing seek and hide
No more long and wasted nights
Can't you make it easy on yourself?
I know you wish you were strong;

You wish you were never wrong,
Well I've got some wishes of my own

The meaning of this song is pretty clear: it's about a one-sided relationship, in which the other half does nothing to satisfy Sheryl as she sort of carries him. He is unavailable, both practically and emotionally. I just have to say that while topic-wise and sound-wise this song isn't really unique or special, I just think it's one of the most perfectly-crafted rock songs ever. It's just...unbelievable how flawless it is, from start to finish. I especially love the end..."I know you wish you were strong/You wish you were never wrong/Well I got some wishes of my own.." The way her voice carries on "own"...::drools::

yeah, it's sad to realize everything you've ever done or said to a person has been totally taken for granted and really all you've been is used the entire time of knowing the person.

i've known people like that... they like to say they're "so understanding, so level-headed, so thoughtful"...but in reality, they're nothing but a self-absorbed ass who passes judgment on others but feels free to do the things they supposedly are against. it's always ok for them to do it, but not ok for anyone else to. the type of person who believes in voting but never actually votes themselves.

this is one of my favorites...and i love the end the most. for me, it's her summing up all of the times she's listened to him complain to her about things, as if she's singing the last part during her last statement to him before she walks out the door.

"well, I've got some wishes of my own" ... and that's her closing bit in this song...very appropriate. people are so caught up in what they want they don't open their eyes long enough to give a damn about how anyone else feels. it's disgusting, and i like to think that after saying those last lines she's walking out the door, slamming it, then gets in the car and leaves the jerk for good.
Edited by delial on May 28 2008, at 06:48AM

Funny that some of my favourite Sheryl´s songs are about her rupture with Eric Clapton (my favourite mistake, it don´t hurt, anything but down...). This proves that love is a great inspiration but losing love is even more.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
